Alicia continued,
"Then what about saints, Sir?"
The Baron explained,
"The saints are the most powerful beings in this world. They all have the power of the divine. As you already mentioned, the first king of Visden was also a Saint, and was declared as such by the Church of Oricihin. The same Church also ridiculed the Visden and was destroyed by the first Emperor and sixth King of Visden. In the past, saints had the power to bring down a nation single-handedly. Hence, nobody dared to cross a saint. But as time passed, saints became more scarce, and right now, only our Empire has saints. Most of the saints in the Empire are from the direct line of the Imperial family or a Branch family of the Imperial family. Hence, the Imperial family holds significant power throughout the continent. "
Alicia interrupted and asked,
" Does every Imperial family descendant have divine powers?"
The Baron replied, " Yes, every descendant has at least a small amount of divine power. Which means even you might have some strong divine powers, Alicia."
Alicia asked,
" Wow, that's... that's incredible. Then, who is the current saint, sir? "
The Baron replied,
"The current saint is the second princess of the Empire, Abigail Augusté Visden. She is said to be as powerful as the first Emperor."
Alicia curiously asked,
"Does she also have the Great Healing?"
The Baron replied,
" Yes, she does. It is said that she can use it without limitations. But it is still not officially confirmed by the church."
Alicia, confused, asked,
" Wasn't the church destroyed by the Emperor?"
The Baron replied,
" Yes, but that was the Oricihin church, which worshipped God Temis, God of Knowledge and abundance. But the first Emperor established a new church, the Estandral Church, which worships Goddess Serandria, Goddess of Magic. The Oricihin church is still in existence. It is in the Otinis Theocracy. Theocracy believes in religious equality and has every temple present on the continent. But it mainly worships God Temis, and its laws are based on the Oricihin teachings. Theocracy is not ruled by a king, but by the Oricihin Church. The saints there hold the rights to make a law or deliver a judgement, and no one questions it. If they did, they would be considered heretics and would be banished. Right now, the Empire and the Theocracy are not on good terms, but there are no wars as neither wants to escalate the matter. Because the Theocracy doesn't want to get defeated by the Empire, as we have a huge army and the Empire doesn't want to waste money on an enemy that is easy to subjugate at any time."
