Chapter 6: New Student
The university buzzed with activity as students rushed to their next class. Li Wei sat in his lecture hall, listening to the professor drone on about ancient history. He couldn't help but think about the pendant and the mysterious world he'd stumbled into. The symbols on the pendant seemed to be etched into his mind, and he found himself wondering what secrets they held.
Just as the professor finished his lecture, the door swung open, and a stunning young woman walked in. Her long, flowing hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall, and her piercing eyes sparkled as she scanned the room. Li Wei's classmates couldn't help but stare, their whispers and murmurs filling the air.
The professor nodded at her. "Ah, welcome, Miss Yu. Please, take a seat."
Miss Yu's gaze landed on Li Wei for a brief moment before she took an empty seat nearby. Li Wei felt a strange jolt, as if the pendant on his desk had reacted to her presence. He glanced down, but it seemed inert, its surface calm and unremarkable.
As the class continued, Li Wei found himself distracted by Miss Yu's presence. She seemed to be absorbing the information effortlessly, her eyes gleaming with interest. Her notes were meticulous, and her questions insightful. Li Wei couldn't help but feel a twinge of admiration for her intellect.
After class, Li Wei gathered his belongings and stood up, accidentally knocking over his bag. The pendant slipped out, and Miss Yu's eyes widened as she spotted it.
"Interesting pendant," she said, her voice melodious. "May I ask where you got it?"
Li Wei hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. "I...found it," he said vaguely, trying to play it cool.
Miss Yu's gaze lingered on the pendant before she smiled. "I'm Yu Xiaoxiao. I'm new here. Nice to meet you, Li Wei."
Li Wei's instincts told him that Yu Xiaoxiao was more than just a pretty face. There was something about her that seemed...familiar. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but he felt a sense of connection to her.
"Nice to meet you too," Li Wei replied, tucking the pendant back into his bag. "What brings you to our university?"
Yu Xiaoxiao's smile grew wider. "I'm transferring from another school. I'm interested in ancient history, and I heard the program here is excellent."
Li Wei nodded, intrigued. "That's great. We're lucky to have some excellent professors. Professor Zhang is particularly knowledgeable about ancient artifacts."
Yu Xiaoxiao's eyes sparkled. "I've heard of him. I'd love to meet him."
As they walked out of the lecture hall, Li Wei found himself chatting with Yu Xiaoxiao about everything from ancient dynasties to modern pop culture. He was surprised by how easy it was to talk to her, how much they had in common.
As they strolled across campus, Li Wei noticed that Yu Xiaoxiao seemed to be...glowing. It was a subtle energy, but it was definitely there. He wondered if she was a cultivator like him, or if she had some other connection to the mysterious world he'd stumbled into.
"So, what do you like to do for fun?" Li Wei asked, trying to sound casual.
Yu Xiaoxiao laughed. "I enjoy reading, hiking, and practicing martial arts. How about you?"
Li Wei's eyes widened. "Martial arts? I'm more of a bookworm myself, but I've always been interested in trying some martial arts."
Yu Xiaoxiao grinned mischievously. "Maybe I can teach you some moves sometime."
Li Wei's heart skipped a beat. He couldn't help but feel drawn to Yu Xiaoxiao, both physically and spiritually. He wondered if this was the start of a beautiful friendship or something more.
As the sun began to set, Yu Xiaoxiao glanced at her watch. "I have to go. I promised my aunt I'd meet her for dinner."
Li Wei nodded, feeling a pang of disappointment. "Okay, nice meeting you, Yu Xiaoxiao. Maybe I'll see you around campus?"
Yu Xiaoxiao smiled, her eyes sparkling. "I'd like that."
As they parted ways, Li Wei couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. He had a feeling that his life was about to get a lot more interesting.
