"Look at you," commented Sophie, "you're glowing. Is this the effect of maternal love?"
A teasing smile played on her face. She extended her hand, placing her around Lillian's shoulder and bringing her close.
Thinking about how Grace kept her under her vision the entire two days, Lillian felt awkward. The sincere affection and attention shown by Grace was new to her.
Lillian cleared her throat. "It was alright."
Sophie chuckled, noticing Lillian's heated up red ears.
It wasn't often she saw her friend show such emotions.
"But what are we doing here?" Sophie asked, staring at the elite club in front of them.
Amore was an exclusive club catering to the distinguished few. Both wealth and heavy connections are required to establish an entry to this club.
Sophie, being an abandoned daughter, did not have the permit to enter the club.
Lillian, on the other hand, showed her membership card to the entry guard.
Although the Chen Family cancelled her cards, they still did not go far enough to blacklist her membership cards.
As the pair of red heels clicked forward, matching the a-line dress worn by her, Sophie tagged along beside her in signature leather and silver accessories.
"To commit evil," responded Lillian, a smirk crossing her red lips.
Sophie trembled in excitement and held on to Lillian's hand tightly. Then, she expressed, "Baby, do you know you're so hot when you are being so mysterious and vicious!? I like it!"
There was amusement in Lillian's eyes as she shook her head.
Amore welcomed them with trendy loud songs, flashing colorful lights, and a fancy setting. Body collided against each other on the dance floor. A bar was set up at one side, offering exquisite drinks.
Then, Lillian climbed the glass stairs leading to the second floor, the VIP section.
Although the club wasn't her scene, the reason she had a membership happened to be due to Sophie's pestering. She enjoyed setting herself free in such rowdy and noisy environment.
The Chen Family, on the contrary, looked down on these clubs, believing they were established for bunch of good-for-nothings to waste their money and ruin their lives.
The VIP section had several private rooms. Most had to book those rooms in prior.
Lillian's eyes read the numbers on the door— nine, ten, eleven, twelve.
Twelve.
She steps halted in front of the glass door that had twelve carved on a golden metal plate.
Sophie was used to her friend giving her no prior explanation before acting out. She comforted herself, mentally saying how the element of surprise makes everything exciting.
As Lillian's hand extended, about to push the door, creases formed between Sophie's brows.
"Twelve." Sophie pondered. "Isn't that..."
As the door opened, they were greeted with the cool air-conditioning. The scent of alcohol wafted in the air, and rock music played in the background.
There were beautifully girls dancing at one side, entertaining a couple of the rich kids. Some were invested in playing competitive games of cards.
Lillian's eyes fell on the man sitting at the centre of these second and third generations.
His long, slender finger held a red heart card. As he leaned back against the couch casually, his arm rested on the back, and a gorgeous woman leaned against him.
The black hair was messily slicked back, few rebellious strands fell on his forehead, giving him a wild look. There was a sole silver earring on his left earring.
Few buttons of his black silk shirt was undone, giving a sneak into his well-sculpted upper body. The sleeves were pulled up, revealing his veiny arms.
On his face was a playful expression, adding on to his sensual allure. His presence had the attention of the women in the room, attracting them.
"Sebastian Xu," enunciated Sophie.
The eyes in the room snapped towards Lillian. Even amongst these prodigals, Lillian's name was widespread as an example to be followed.
Although in the past month her reputation hasn't been the best, it didn't take much away from her credibility.
"What are we doing here?" Sophie whispered, confused.
It was same for the rest in the room.
Although Lillian was from the Chen Family, her life never intertwined with these wealthy kids who sought out excitement every day, not willing to make any achievements.
"Hook a fish." Lillian's concise response followed.
Sophie could only get more perplexed.
Why was her friend getting more and more difficult to understand?
Although everyone had their eyes on her, waiting for her to make her next move and wondering if she entered the wrong room, Sebastian slapped down the card in his hand.
"I won," he commented, his hand reaching out for the glass of wine.
Lillian strode forward towards Sebastian.
"Mr. Xu," she called.
Sebastian finally turned towards her. His brow arched, signalling for her to carry on.
"I have a matter to discuss with you," she brought up. "Can I have a bit of your time?"
"Go on," Sebastian casually said.
"I would like the matter to be private." Lillian's voice was cold, but her dark eyes held a domineering urging in them.
Slight smile played on Sebastian's face. "I am sure the matter isn't something my buddies can't hear."
Lillian silently stared at him.
One. Two. Three.
"If not, it would be better if you leave. You see, you're disturbing us here." Sebastian raised the wine glass, taking a sip.
"I am pregnant," Lillian calmly announced, "with your child."
Her sudden words caught Sebastian off guard. He choked on the drink and stared at her with widened eyes.
She received similar looks from everyone else in the room. Their gazes shifted from Sebastian to Lillian, wondering when the matter proceeded so far between them.
"A kid shouldn't joke like this," Sebastian uttered through his teeth.
"Do you need me to show the pregnancy report?" Lillian's composed voice made it sound convincing.
Sebastian pressed on his forehead, standing up. Then, holding on to her hand, he pulled her out of the room.
Speculations and gossips spread throughout the room.
