Chapter 40 - Mausoleum of Sirius

A pillar with intricate carvings made from materials that one wasn't going to find on the lower floors, filled with details so incomprehensible that looking at it for too long might make someone dizzy.

A pillar such as this was standing in the middle of nowhere on the first floor, and KiRA was currently standing before this pillar with Uni.

"Will the combinations work as they should?" He wondered while looking at the pillar with his new Skill, the new ability to see the different nature of Mana.

[{ Try it out, master~. I'll pray it works~. }]

Uni was being optimistic right now. However KiRA had his doubts.

"Then we should give it a try first."

It was a complex creation made by an artist's hands. There was no doubt that whoever made this pillar was one of the most skilled beings the humans would have ever known.

The carvings were not the only attractive things about this monolith. There were carvings on it, magical carvings far superior to any magician's attractive spells.

There were micro paintings on the pillars for those who had the eyes to see it. Whoever had made this structure had made it as their life's work, a masterpiece that was left behind for the future generations.

"The Progenitors of the Green-eye tribe created this for the elders of his future generations as a final resting place."

KiRA placed his Holy energy and imbued a few paintings, a few carvings, and a few of the elements of the pillar with it.

His yellow energy reacted with the elements of the pillar and a brighter colorful light made up of all kinds of colors exploded from the pillar right as he was done…

-Zaaaaaaaaa!

The colorful lights covered him, blinding him for a moment.

[{ Master~! See! It worked~! }]

He heard Uni's voice before he even opened his eyes. He knew from that previous explosion of light that this pathway was at least working.

"Right. It's a great thing."

When he opened his eyes and looked around, he was transported to a place that, in fact, seemed like a paradise.

"At least this place looks like how I remember."

This was the second hidden piece of the 1st floor: The Mausoleum Of Sirius.

"It's pretty…"

Despite being a pocket dimension not part of the 1st floor, there was a bright sky filled with clouds above them.

There was warm sunlight here, the air was fresh and filled with Mana that rejuvenated them just by being there.

If one was injured, coming to this place alone would heal their wounds.

The way to get here wasn't commonly known by many. Even among the players, there shouldn't be many that knew the exact combinations of this special area.

There was greenery all around them, and one could hear the sound of flowing water from some distance away.

The wet soil's scent was reaching him all the way here, indicating there was a waterbody nearby.

In his sight alone, he could see some attractive magical beasts, creatures that, sadly, weren't real.

There was a fresh chirping of birds in the area as well, giving a feeling of a paradise frozen in time.

"Let's go see them." KiRA took in the familiar view and thanked the system for keeping this place the same as he remembered.

But then again, the pocket dimension was made by one of the best craftsmen in the world. There were very few similar pocket spaces around the tower, and perhaps this one was one of the least important of them all.

While it was made by a master craftsman, within the tower, there were many like him. And, there were also a lot more even better than him.

'The Craftsman who stands above them all, one of the Great Higher beings of the tower that resides on one of the top floors also completely redesigned one of the lower floors by himself, making it one of the most fun Resting Floors that we might see.'

But that was for later… right now, he calmly walked towards the lake that was present beyond a bunch of trees.

"Haaa."

The water that became golden after reflecting the artificial sunlight, the small creatures that lived within these waters, the animals that drank water from the lake, and a natural scenery right from a painting unfolded before him.

He could only sigh while taking in this new scenery. There was something special about it, it was more calming than the grassland beyond these trees.

"Vivi~!" (Wowy~! Soooo pretty~!)

The entire flatlands surrounding this lake were a resting place for the elders of the Dwarven kind of a certain tribe that retired after spending a long life on the higher floors.

'It doesn't seem like there's any other player here right now, but that doesn't mean none had arrived here until now.'

It was a common fact that there were [Three Hidden pieces] on each of the floors of the tower.

This place was one of the hidden pieces of the first floor and he wasn't the only one that was aware of that information. In the early game days, one of the players had accidentally found out about it and sold the information at a steep price.

'Even if there weren't many, there should still be a few people that knew about this place.'

But then again, since this pillar was now located in the 6th Zone area of the floor, a place that one cannot come to without passing through four other zones, the chances that someone else had arrived there before him were still low.

"There it is." He wasn't sure so he was being cautious as he reached a small settlement consisting of simple looking wooden houses on the other side of the pretty lake.

Most of the houses were without a door, with only two houses in the entire area having a door.

"Two… seems like it's not going to be the same thing after all."

KiRA stood before the two houses, waiting for the house owners to come out and greet him as they usually do.

However, even though he waited for a few minutes, no one threw any bombs at him.

There were also no swords or hammers flying towards him.

"Uni?"

"Viv." (I'll go check!)

He found it strange so he sent Uni to check in on the houses. However, when the little bird flew out of the first house's window, she did not go to her master.

Instead, she simply went to the other house.

"Hmm?"

He found it strange how she didn't say anything, but he still waited for her.

[{ Master… }]

When she finally came out of the house, there was a strange expression of confusion on her.

[{ They are inside, I guess sleeping. But… }]

She came and sat down on his shoulders, a certain warmth that should have been there absent from her.

[{ There aren't any furnaces inside, master. }]

"What…?"

He had noticed how she wasn't as warm as she should have been after coming from those houses.

If anything, she shouldn't even have been able to stay in there for more than a few seconds.

KiRA didn't approach the houses because despite their looks, the temperature around them, according to his experience, was not something a human of as low a level as him could ever endure.

Unity was an exception, so she could certainly go in to check… but, if she was right and there were no furnaces inside, the source of the heat, then, the current situation was more complicated than what he had expected.

"Let's go in and check once again."

If there was no heat blocking him, he didn't have to worry about anything.

He was anxious right now, but he still approached the houses, and out of basic courtesy, knocked on the wooden door.
