After returning to the 18th Floor and walking a little further into the forest, I pulled up my status panel.

-----------------------------------------------------

I had levelled up to Level 11 and had an extra left over exp of 501.

Opening the notification screen as a separate pop-up window, I found the notification and exp gained by the two monsters I had killed.

---Notification ------------------

Killed a Hellhound [+426 exp]

Killed a Minotaur [+475 exp]

-------------------------------

It was quite a large amount, nearly a 1000 exp just for killing those two monsters, if I were to defeat a few more, I could go on a levelling spree.

----------------------------------

Level Up; [+ 2CON; +2 SPI]

-------------------------------

Another thing caught my attention was the level up notification, I had gotten two points instead of one point.

Opening my status screen again, I clicked on Level, opening its description.

-------------------------------

[ Level: You grow stronger as you level up, every level gives you 2 points increase in all your attributes and 2 free status points are given every 2 levels which can increase your attributes. (Updated) ]

-------------------------------

The stat points had increased from 1 point every level up to 2 points for every level up.

"Huh, then it may also increase when I level up to the twentieth level, like every 10 levels.".

I pondered about it, looking more it seems the extra 2 points per two levels remained the same, not increasing.

...

"The strongest slash that I can do using my wooden sword currently consumes 1000 SPI for a single shot. "

"And floating for about minute is also about 1500 SPI."

"Good, I'm not sure about other monsters but against Minotaurs and Hellhounds, I can easily defeat loners among them."

I tried to make an accurate guess about my combat power, and what monsters I could take on.

Currently I had only come across Hellhounds and Minotaurs, but the 17th floor was known for the stronger Ligerfangs and even stronger Wyverns...

...

After waiting for about half an hour for my mana to recuperate, I once again climbed up to the 17th floor.

[ A / N : Mana Regeneration Rate: 80 MP / min ]

This time my luck was not so good, there were a group of six Ligerfangs already spawned in the room adjacent to the Monster Rex's.

*grrrr* *rawr* *krrrrr*

Looking at the six tiger-like monsters moving about the room made me pause.

These six legged cats were almost as strong as minotaurs, but while those bull monsters had terrible agility and basically next to no dexterity, these oversized tiger monsters excelled in agility and dexterity.

This meant that Ligerfangs had no great openings for me to take advantage off.

They would just jump at me if I floated in the air, and I would be attacked from various sides.

'Can I take go against those six monsters with my current strength?'

The rational response to the thoughts going through my mind was an immediate no.

But I had a feeling growing inside me, a feeling of excitement, an eagerness to grow stronger, to fight them.

I could not describe the feeling, but it made me feel like I could defeat these monsters.

[ A / N : The author sending Light a message, ahem just joking don't take my comment seriously ~( ̄▽ ̄)~* ]

But more than that, till now I was only fighting in situations where I was certain I would win, this time I wanted to fight without that certainty...

...

Light stepped into the room on the 16th floor. His eyes fixed on the six liger-fangs in front of him, his Spatial Sense locked on them.

Those monsters similar to tigers on earth but more than twice their size, were walking around randomly in the room. Huge fangs sprouted from their mouths.

The moment Light stepped into the room, all the six Ligerfangs instantly looked at him, their eyes gleaming thought the light being emitted by the cluster of phosphorescent mushrooms growing in clusters everywhere in the room.

*ROAR*

Without even waiting for Light to make a move, the first Ligerfang's claws scrapped against the ground as it stretched out its limbs and lunged at him.

His spatial Sense flaring, Light dodged to the side just a step without hesitation, the monster's sharp claws passing by him with just an inch of distance between them.

"Hupp" *swish*

Turning around, Light, pouring mind into his wooden sword, shooting out a flying slash from his sword at the Ligerfangs now with its back exposed to him.

*crack*

The slash sliced through the monster's hind leg, and its huge body, fortunately striking its magic stone and killing it in a single attack. It's body immediately slumping to the ground

Sensing two more Ligerfangs lunging at his back through his spatial sense, he jumped from the ground using his magic to float.

Both the Ligerfang's collided into each other in midair, stunning themselves.

Light stopped his magic, falling from the 1-meter height and driving his sword into the head of the Ligerfang to his right, killing that one in a single blow too.

Before the other Ligerfang could return to its senses, Light once again poured a good quantity of mind into his sword, the wooden blade lighting up with a small white glow.

A slash at the monster the stunned monster tore through its innards, bisecting the monster in two.

*GRRRR* *GRRRR* *GRRRR*

By then, the other three Ligerfangs had become cautious, they did not attack instead they moved away from each other but still keeping Light in their line of sight, their elongated pupils in their eyes gleaming in the dark, waiting for him to make a mistake.

Seeing the three Ligerfangs not attacking, Light clutched his wooden sword tighter and sprinted towards them.

Activating the Accel skill while sprinting, he reached the Ligerfangs in just a second, his speed more than doubling.

The monsters were not able to react to Light's sudden increase in speed allowing him to take full advantage of that and create an opportunity.

Using his spatial sense to determine their current position, Light poured mind into his sword once more and attacked the monster in front of him, sending a white slash towards it.

The monster, reacting at the last second tried to dodge the slash, but the slash still tore off one of the monster's fore limbs.

*ROOAAARRRRR*

Letting out a painful roar, it once again lunged at Light, trying to skin him alive.

Light avoided the lunge by floating into the air.

The Ligerfang not leaving him, also jumped at him once again.

Trying to avoid the monster's attack, Light landed, only for Spatial Sense to prompt him that there was another Ligerfang already there, its limbs tensed ready to attack.

Bringing his sword to block the second Ligerfang's attack, its claws stuck his sword.

The result being Light sent flying with a loud boom, crashing into the wall of the room and raising dust to block the monster's line of sight.

Ligerfang's had strength similar to a Minotaur and were known to be deadlier than those bull-headed monsters due to their greater agility and dexterity.

All three Ligerfangs sprinted towards the wall where Light was blown against, trying to take him down before he got up.

Light climbed out of the impression in the wall, his body aching everywhere with blood flowing out of the corner of his mouth. His sword hand hanging limply against his body.

Just one direct collision had broken all the bones in his hand, the only reason he was not screaming out now was due to the Gamer's Mind dulling his sense of pain and the Gamer's Body healing his injuries.

The ache in his body was rapidly decreasing, the bones in his hand being reset to their positions and being healed automatically.

Picking up the sword which had fallen to the ground next to him, Light understood that he had to tread carefully, these were Level 2 monsters and he was only able to fight them due to the skills provided by his system.

If it were any other adventurer in his place, they would be dead by now, unless they had some impressive or broken skills.

But even in such a situation there was not a hint of fear on Light's face, only an excited smile which even he himself was not aware of. His spatial sense alerted him to the three Ligerfangs running towards him.

Shaking his hand to stop his lightly trembling hand, he used his spatial sense to lock on to the one whose one limb he had cut off and swung his sword outwards, sending a mind powered flying slash in it's direction.

*swoosh*

The flying slash did its work, bisecting the Ligerfang into two halves, its magic stone also cut into two pieces.

The other two Ligerfangs halted their dash upon seeing one of their comrades cut into two pieces.

*Grrrr* *Grrrr*

Waiting for the dust to settle, the two last two monsters growled towards the dust trying to locate what they thought was their prey.

What greeted them was another two flying slashes coming out of the dust which they dodged.

Seeing the two Ligerfangs dodge the flying slashes, Light took out a spare sword from his inventory.

Throwing the spare sword towards one of the monster to distract its focus, he himself sprinted towards the other one, his sprint powered by his accel skill.

Light faltered for a moment, feeling a small migraine in his head, a known side-effect of mind down, he had used mind without any care trusting his mana regeneration, thinking that mind would not be depleted.

But shrugging it off, he once again sprinted towards the other Ligerfang, reaching it just a moment later, and before it could even register him, he slid beneath the Ligerfang with his sword held straight-up above him, cutting the monster in two its bright blood splashing on him.

The other Ligerfang seeing the spare sword headed towards it, used it front paw to swat to one side, and then hearing the pained roar of the other one turned towards it only to see it being cut into two.

*ROAR !!!*

The Ligerfang let out an enraged roar, its voice full of fury, staring directly at Light who was soaked with monster blood.

Seeing the monster looking at him, he waved his sword at it, taunting it to attack.

The Ligerfang, now enraged, charged towards Light with all its speed.

Looking at the Ligerfang jumping at him, Light jumped into the air, and sent out a final weakened slash with his sword drawing his left-over mind.

The attack was aimed at the monster's limbs as Light knew that the weakened attack was not enough to directly kill the Ligerfang.

The attack successfully cut off the monster's front limbs, sending it crashing to the ground.

A direct stab from Light killed the final Ligerfang.

*ROAR* *ROAR*

Hearing more roars coming from outside the room, Light quickly picked up the magic stones from the Ligerfang's dead bodies and retreated from the room.

Light quickly left the room before the other monsters came in. He sped his way through the still empty Goliath's room and then into the corridor leading to the 18th floor.

...

Dragging my sore body to the 18th floor, I once again marveled at the dungeon, just a minute before I was in a deadly battle against those Ligerfangs and now, I was in a safe spot with no monsters.

Walking into the forest in a random direction, I leaned on a tree and enlarged the map screen, to see if I could find any lake or river nearby where I could wash off the blood on me.

I had yet to completely explore the 18th floor yet hence I was only able to find a small stream of water a little deeper into the forest. I started following the stream of water hoping that it would connect to a river or a lake.

It really did connect to a lake, except that there were people already there bathing in the lake. The Astraea Familia girls.

A / N : Tried to write a detailed 1 vs many fight scene.

P.S.: I know that the middle floors normally spawn a large number of monsters, but here Light is specifically searching or only fighting against a few monsters so as to check his ability against these Level 2 monsters.

I had another doubt, do Monster Rex rooms only spawn floor bosses and remain empty rest of the time, or are normal monsters also spawned? Except Udaeus who can summon more troops to help in battle.

Also, has anybody read Vol20 of Danmachi? I only got some spoilers OwO !!!
