Feeling the immense ocular power that had fused into your eye, you couldn't help but glance suspiciously at Setsuna.
He claimed to have used the Transcription Seal to seal the ocular technique, which resided in the Sharingan, into your eye.
[8:00 PM]
After some time, Setsuna gradually adapted to the transplanted ocular power. He said he was heading to the basement to retrieve something and would take you to meet the people from Root shortly.
Meanwhile, chaos consumed the Uchiha compound, and with the entirety of Konoha under martial law, you had nowhere to go. You stayed inside the wooden house, quietly trying to sense the power now sealed in your eye.
In order to avoid accidentally activating and wasting this precious dojutsu, you decided to rely on your existing knowledge of sealing techniques to slowly grasp the essence of the Transcription Seal. Fortunately, with the complex Fire Seal as your foundation, understanding the Transcription Seal wasn't too difficult.
Just then, the space outside the house distorted. A pitch-black vortex suddenly appeared.
Realizing the visitor was Uchiha Obito, you immediately suppressed your chakra signature and deactivated your Sharingan. You lay on the bed like a harmless child, idly twirling a kunai.
A moment later, Obito—wearing his mask—pushed the door open and entered. You quickly sat up and deliberately called out to Setsuna in an innocent child's voice.
As a battle-hardened veteran, Uchiha Setsuna instantly picked up on the change in your tone. He understood immediately—an enemy far beyond your ability to resist had silently infiltrated the house.
He pried open the wooden panel concealing the basement, holding a blade in his right hand and two silver brocade scrolls in his left. Locking eyes with the masked Obito, he slowly climbed out.
Seeing the unknown intruder, Setsuna instantly activated his not-yet-fully-evolved Sharingan. Taking two steps back, he stuffed the scrolls into your hands. Seizing the moment, you spoke up, using your childish appearance to subtly direct Obito's attention toward the idea of space-based abilities.
Setsuna gave a slight nod, just about to speak—
But Obito beat him to it. With an exaggerated, self-important tone, he called himself "Uchiha Madara" and invited Setsuna to join him in exterminating the Uchiha clan in exchange for the chance to follow him.
It was a laughably poor lie. It might have worked on someone like the young and naïve Uchiha Itachi, but to an old fox like Setsuna, it was full of holes. Not to mention, Setsuna had seen the real Madara with his own eyes—Obito's mannerisms were nothing short of childish in comparison!
When persuasion failed, Obito clenched his fists in frustration. But then he noticed the abnormal pattern in Setsuna's left eye. Just as he was about to strike, Setsuna seized the initiative and swung his blade in a horizontal slash.
If that strike had landed, Obito would've been split clean in half!
But of course, that was impossible. The blade passed through Obito's body without resistance. Even though you had warned him in advance, Setsuna was still shocked. Without hesitation, he used the Body Flicker Technique to leap out the window.
Obito paused, clearly savoring the thrill of "Kamui," which let him ignore physical attacks. Watching Setsuna escape the room, he didn't rush after him. Instead, he turned his attention to you, still sitting on the bed.
Knowing you stood no chance against Obito, you decided not to resist. You continued pretending to be an ordinary child in hopes of staying alive a little longer.
Obito grabbed you by the neck, intending to use you as a hostage to force Setsuna to cooperate. However, he seemed to have mistaken your relationship—assuming you were Setsuna's grandson.
But at that moment, Setsuna triggered the explosion tags he had hidden beneath the wooden house. The massive explosion could have sent any ordinary ninja flying.
But for Obito, with Kamui, it did nothing.
And you, held tightly in his grasp, were untouched as well.
Stepping out of the ruins with you still in hand, Obito seemed to want to use an overwhelming aura to suppress Setsuna. But though Setsuna was aged, his transplanted Sharingan and battle experience made him anything but weak. He flung his hands forward, relentlessly launching shuriken and kunai at Obito.
Still, Obito didn't bother to dodge. When he saw that Setsuna didn't care whether you lived or died, he simply tossed you aside.
But just as you were flung through the air, you shouted out the key intel you had figured out—that continuous attacks could force Obito to maintain Kamui's intangibility.
Mid-air, you exhaled a massive Fireball Jutsu directly at him.
The flames engulfed Obito. Setsuna didn't let up, throwing shuriken at regular intervals. You coordinated by tossing kunai to cut off Obito's escape paths, forcing him to stay intangible.
But the two of you had overlooked something critical—Kamui was an intangibility technique, not an invulnerability one.
Which meant... he could still move underground.
Suddenly, Obito burst up from below, wooden spikes erupting from his hands, driving straight at Setsuna.
Setsuna tried to evade, but even with his transplanted Sharingan, his aged body couldn't match Obito's Wood Release. After dodging a few of Obito's strikes, a wooden spike pierced his body. The Wood Release exploded from within, and Setsuna collapsed on the spot.
Just then—Izanagi activated.
Setsuna reappeared behind Obito completely unscathed, slashing his blade diagonally toward Obito's neck.
As the blade passed through, Obito spun around, and a black vortex appeared before his exposed Sharingan. From it, a giant shuriken shot out.
Setsuna quickly used the Body Flicker Technique to dodge, but tripped over the uneven tree roots beneath his feet. A deep gash opened across his neck.
Obito raised his palm. A wooden spike grew from it and stabbed toward the fallen Setsuna—
At the same time, you spat another Great Fireball at Obito.
He jumped back to dodge. Looking down at the badly charred body of Setsuna, even the single Sharingan visible behind his mask seemed confused.
You seized the moment. Grabbing a kunai, you used several Body Flicker steps to rush Obito, leaping forward to stab the kunai into his chest.
Obito sighed, looking at you like a fool. He reached out his right hand to grab your throat—
But just then, a flash of a blade streaked across, slicing the hand clean off.
With a splash of milky white and red blood, Obito's gaze locked onto Setsuna, stunned to find that the old man's right eye—once blind—was shining once more.
Setsuna's once grey-white hair had turned completely pale.
Ever since masquerading as Uchiha Madara and killing his teacher, Obito had rarely encountered real challenges. But today, for the first time, he had been met with true resistance.
Even though Setsuna had only a single, non-Mangekyō Sharingan, his battle experience was in a whole different league from someone like Itachi.
Caught off guard...
Obito's arm was severed.
...
At that moment, screams echoed from the heart of the Uchiha compound. Flames lit up the night sky. A towering skeletal giant wielding a sword and shield stood in the center of the compound. It ignored the attacks of fellow clansmen, cutting them down indiscriminately—people who just yesterday had been laughing and talking together as family...
From the mask's mouth hole, a trace of annoyance escaped.
Obito's lips moved as he murmured coldly:
"Wood Release."
