Monday morning...
Jules woke up and stretched lazily on his bed. He turned to his phone to check the time and it was 6am.
"Oh, time to go to school" he let out a groan and stood up lazily, making his way to the bathroom.
Jules brushed his teeth, took a shower, and soon began putting on his school uniform which comprised of grey long pants, white short sleeved shirt, a cream coloured vest and grey jacket which he definitely didn't wear, one had to be inhuman to wear a jacket on a vest in this heat.
"Shoes and socks, all done" Jules said and stared at his well dressed figure in the tall mirror at a corner of his room. Afterwards, his eyes darted to the accessory on the small desk right next to his bed, the brown coloured wristwatch from on saturday.
'I haven't tested it out yet' he thought as he placed the watch around his wrist. He slowly lifted up the small transparent cover and immediately pressed on the big red button at the middle.
Instantly, a brown light engolfed him and his entire outfit transformed into his saviours uniform, black fitting short sleeved shirt with thick pants and long black boots. "Ooh" Jules was astonished.
After confirming how easily the watch worked, he pressed on the red button once again and his school uniform appeared back on him.
He grabbed his school bag and began walking downstairs.
"Charlotte, I'm ready to go!" He spoke loudly the moment he arrived in the living room.
"Hold on, stay behind for breakfast" Charlotte yelled from the kitchen. Jules smiled and nodded "Okay"
A few minutes passed and both Jules and Charlotte sat on the dining table to eat breakfast. In front of them was a plate of pancakes endorsed with honey.
Jules reached out to one pancake, placed it on his plate and began to eat it. He kept eating in a fast pace and stayed oblivious to the stare he was getting from Charlotte.
"Jules" Charlotte suddenly called out.
Jules flinched and turned to look at her. "Yes sis"
"You've been acting strange lately" Charlotte spoke, her eyes peering at him even more suspiciously.
Jules paused and tried to hide how anxious he felt at that moment. "W...what do you mean?"
"Well...." Charlotte sighed and leaned back on the chair. "First of all, you've always hated going to school but now you seem...." She squinted her eyes at him.
Jules stared at her in curiosity. "Seem what?"
"Hmm...I can't quite...wait yes, that's it! , less depressed!" Charlotte flicked her fingers the moment she said that.
Jules froze "Less depressed?"
"Ha" Charlotte smiled. "Could it be because you've made a best friend? Or perhaps you've made others besides Chris? Maybe....a crush?" Charlotte leaned forward with an eager smile on her face.
Jules turned red and he didn't know how to react, he immediately stood up in embarrassment. "I-I'll be taking my leave now" he grabbed his back pack and turned to leave.
Charlotte was taken aback "Huh? So suddenly? You haven't answered any of my questions" it was no use as Jules was already out of the house at the time.
"Hmm" Charlotte pouted. "I didn't even get to ask him why he's always in a hurry to hang out with Chris all the time.."
"He sure is acting weird" She stared at the empty spot Jules had walked past to get out of the house.
"Well, what can I say?" She shrugged. "Teenagers are weird"
Jules let out a huge sigh of relief as he made his way to school. "Whew that close...." He stared up in relief but then he suddenly paused.
'Wait, why am I getting worked up over such a trivial question?' He stared down for a moment. 'I mean...it's not like she suspected I was a member of some secret organization with people who possess abnormal abilities'
"Ha" He let out a long sigh. "You've got to learn when you think Jules" he began walking once again and made his way to school.
Jules soon arrived at the Giylberd high school gate. In front of him stood a huge and wide three story building with multiple classrooms. He usually had to walk past the wide entrance and the school field to get to the stairs leading towards the way to his classroom.
"If it isn't the tall kid, you know what, I should probably call you that from now on!" A familiar voice spoke from a distance as Jules had just walked past the school gate. He turned behind to meet a pair of shining blue eyes staring blankly at him and a taller figure standing and waving at him. It was Marcus and Elise.
Marcus had his arms wrapped around Elise's shoulder and she had a somewhat irritated expression on her face.
"Hey Jules, how's it going?" Marcus waved towards Jules with a smile on his face.
Jules stared at them for a while. 'They really are a good looking sibling duo'
"I-I'm good" he replied. "What brings you here?" He laid out the question.
Marcus chuckled. "Oh just came to drop off my adorable little sis at school before attending to some adult business"
Elise yanked his arm off her shoulders in irritation. "Ugh, get a job" she abruptly began walking inside the school building without turning back, avoiding the two like a plague.
"Uh..." Jules stared at her as she stormed off.
Marcus grinned widely. "Go on, go get your girl"
Jules turned to him in surprise. "Huh?"
Marcus grinned even wider. "Oh, it's nothing"
He turned to leave afterwards. "You should go meet up with the others, remember to never take your watches off alright?" He smiled. "See ya" he waved and walked away.
Jules stared at Marcus as he drifted farther away from the school. "Oh...yeah alright" he nodded despite the fact that Marcus definitely couldn't hear him.
He turned back to the direction of the school building and made his way to his classroom.
"What's up buddy!" Chris moved over to Jules' seat the moment he arrived in the classroom.
Jules being a little bit startled at first let out a faint smile afterwards. "I-I'm good"
"Chris, your humongous butt is taking up too much space there, you can clearly see Jules is uncomfortable" Anne snickered from her seat.
Jules turned to her. "Oh..it's not.."
"So what, you don't see either Jules or Elise complaining" Chris snapped at Anne.
Anne scoffed and leaned against her table. "As if Jules would have the courage to complain and Elise couldn't care less as long as it doesn't affect her" she said.
"Oh yeah, so keep your mouth shut" Chris glowered at her.
"Tch" Anne looked away
'These two won't stop huh?' Jules thought with a nervous sweat.
Chris then turned to Jules with an excited smile "Oh yeah buddy, I was staring at the ceiling yesterday and this crazy idea popped up in this genius head of mine"
Jules raised his brows in curiosity. "What was it?"
Chris grinned and leaned back on the chair with a smug smile. "You see, now that we're officially best buds both as ordinary people and as saviours, I figured it would be pretty dope to give ourselves a cool name"
"And I came up with one. The unstoppable heroic duo!" He snapped his fingers and stared at Jules as if waiting for his opinion after he said that.
"Pfft, hahaha" Anne burst out laughing.
"Huh? What's so funny?" Chris turned to her irritatedly.
"Uh..." Jules scratched his head awkwardly.
"Dumb" Elise who had been quiet ever since suddenly spoke.
"So stupid, hahaha" Anne laughed even harder.
"Hey!!" Chris suddenly yelled thereby drawing the attention of everyone in the class.
"Oh uh.."
"Everyone to your seats" the voice of Mr Harry the homeroom teacher echoed at that moment. He looked up at the class and caught sight of Chris sitting next to Jules.
"Chris, stop messing around. Get back to your seat!" He sternly said.
"Oh of course sir" Chris got up and went back to sit next to Anne. His eyes glared at her from the side and he gritted his teeth due to the embarrassment.
"Ooh" Anne grinned
12:30 PM, LUNCH BREAK....
The entirety of the class stood up and made their way to the school cafeteria.
At the far back of the classroom, Chris stood up abruptly and stood before Jules.
"We the unstoppable heroic duo shall now make our way to the cafeteria!"
Jules froze at his words. 'How do I tell him that I absolutely despise this so called cool name'
Anne suddenly appeared beside Chris "Hey I don't know how Jules is able to deal with someone as annoying and dumb as you as his best friend but you've got to quit bugging him" she suddenly grabbed him by the wrist and began dragging him out of the class.
"Hey, what's that supposed to mean? and quit dragging me!" Chris suddenly released his hand from her grasp.
Anne stared up at him and sighed. "Oh come on, give the dude some space and besides, he has better things to do right now, isn't that right Jules?" She turned to Jules and winked at him.
Jules turned red at the realization.
Chris turned from one to the other. "Huh..." Before he could say more, Anne grabbed his wrist once again and dragged him out of the classroom.
Jules stared at the empty entrance and trembled slightly. The class was as good as empty with only him and Elise on their seat, oh! and some black haired dude sleeping at the farthest seat from them.
Jules fidgeted for a while and turned to Elise. She had her elbow rested on the desk and her head on her hands with a bored expression on her face.
Jules then inhaled and exhaled deeply before speaking. "Uh...Elise, do you wanna..."
"No, not interested" Elise bluntly cut him short before he could say another word.
Jules froze in despair. 'Oh, she hates me today'
"But I guess it'd do us no good to just sit around and skip lunch" Elise suddenly stood up and turned down to him. "Even though I despise going to the cafeteria"
Jules looked up at her in surprise and then smiled at her not so obvious invitation. "O-of course"
Elise stared at him for a while and then walked out with a sigh. Jules stood up and followed after her with a slight blush on his face.
The two soon arrived at the cafeteria, it was bustling with loads of students moving around with trays filled with food or empty as they made their way to the line leading towards the people they called lunch ladies.
"I..I'll get us our trays" Jules abruptly said and walked to the spot filled with clean trays to grab two, Elise walked over to the long line of students and stared at him as he did so. 'He's reliable...I guess'
Jules walked over to her with both trays on his hands, he then stretched out one towards her which she accepted afterwards.
"Thanks" she spoke and looked away instantly, her expression barely changing.
Jules stared at her for a while and then moved to stand behind her with a smile. 'I guess that means she doesn't hate me today'
Just then, a group of boys began whispering behind them.
"Yo, that's her right?"
"Yeah, the one people call the ice princess"
"Ice princess? From what I heard, she's called a witch"
"So weird, is she even human?"
"I just hope she doesn't kill us with those eyes or something"
"Look at her though, she's quite the chick"
Jules came to a halt after hearing their words. They may have been whispering but it was obvious they wanted Elise to hear them, one could tell they were obviously talking about her.
He then turned to look behind him. In front of him were three tall dudes, not as tall as him though. They looked messy and somewhat like delinquents, one could tell they were obviously the type to go around gossiping and lashing out at people.
"What? Got something to say?" One of them who had a buzz cut and an ordinary face snapped at Jules.
Jules felt his legs tremble. "Uh...it's nothing" he quickly turned back to the front of the line.
'Why won't they shut up?'
"Tch" a voice sounded from behind him.
Jules then stared down at Elise but she had no reaction at all, almost like she hadn't heard anything they had said. Was she used to this already? He had no idea due to the fact that he had never been to the cafeteria with her before, she would always sit back in the class and the entire class 2A never spoke about her in such ways.
'Come to think of it, it's the first time I've ever seen her have lunch at the cafeteria' he thought and couldn't help but let out a faint smile. She previously mentioned something about not wanting to skip lunch but that was basically all she ever did, perhaps she came over because...
'No don't get ahead of yourself' Jules shook his head instantly.
Soon enough, both he and Elise had received their lunch of rice and seaweed stew, a delicious mix of tomato sauce, seaweed and spices which was a simple yet common meal at Giylberd city.
They both walked side by side as they searched for a seat and Jules couldn't help but notice the number of stares they were receiving.
"Is this why you despise coming to the cafeteria?" He whispered the one question lingering in his mind to her.
"Hmm, I guess so" Elise shrugged.
"Hey you guys!" A familiar voice called out from a distance. It was Anne sitting next to Chris who was completely focused on his tray of food.
Both Jules and Elise turned to them and walked to sit opposite the two.
"Ooh, Elise came over to the cafeteria for lunch. What a rare sight" Anne grinned as she teased Elise.
"Shut up" Elise spoke nonchalantly.
Chris noticed their presence and looked up at them "Is that you buddy and....Elise?!" He was quite surprised at the sight of Elise beside Jules.
"Hmm... suspicious, isn't it?" Anne said with a playful grin. But just then, the playful atmosphere shattered at the sound of yet another round of murmuring behind Jules and Elise.
"Dying her hair? Wearing eye contacts? I can't believe the school allowed her in like this" a female voice spoke this time.
"The school didn't allow it Rosa, I heard those are her natural hair and eye colour" a male voice spoke afterwards. "Be sure not to make eye contact with her or you'll be..."
Unexpectedly, Jules suddenly snapped before the guy could say anything further. "Okay that does it" he abruptly stood up and moved over to grab the robust guy behind them in obvious irritation. But rather than just a simple grab on the collar, his hand lifted the guy up to an abnormal height and a gust of brown air surrounded him, it was his aura!
The entire crowd of students were taken aback by the commotion and then a female voice yelled from beside them, the same girl who had initiated the trash talk from earlier.
"H-he's a monster!"
