Chapter 67 - Chapter 67: Preparation

"How troublesome," Kael couldn't help but sigh, then pulled out mercenary summoning books from his backpack and used them all without hesitation. As summoned lifeforms, summoned mercenaries had fixed ability templates and were certainly weaker than players and NPCs of the same level. However, that didn't mean they were entirely useless. If their numbers were sufficient, it wasn't impossible to encircle and kill players and NPCs. The only unfortunate thing was that they couldn't receive the effects of resurrection magic or resurrection items, and would disappear completely once they died.

Kael was now using high-tier mercenary summoning books above level 85. He had originally intended to save them for future use, to help his followers quickly increase their abilities and train subordinates capable of fighting the guardians of the Great Underground Tomb of Nazarick. But now the situation had changed, and he might have to fight Ainz and the others, so he had no choice but to use the items.

"If I can't get one or two World Items, I'll suffer a huge loss," Kael murmured to himself, a cold pragmatism emanating in his voice.

As the last summoning book was expended, a white-bearded Elder Priest wearing white Priest robes appeared before him. The War Priest LV88 possessed powerful skills like [Battlefield Blockade], [Mass Teleportation], and [Group Buff]. After explaining a few things about wartime sacrifices, Kael activated [Advanced Teleportation] magic and returned to the E-Rantel battlefield.

On the battlefield, with the support of the legendary knight Karon and his followers, the city's official forces had launched a counterattack, and the battle line had advanced more than ten meters from the wall. Not only that, the Black Scripture of The Slane Theocracy seemed to have joined the battle after Enri and the others appeared, demonstrating their combat prowess to be no less than that of Adamantite-class adventurers.

As Kael appeared above the battlefield, he looked at the dense Undead army below and felt a pang of pity. According to his original plan, this battle could have lasted for a long time, allowing his followers to gain several levels.

"We can only talk about it next time," Kael muttered calmly. With a clear mind, Kael raised his hand and launched repeated Tenth Tier sacred attribute magic. Three small suns glowing with holy light appeared in the sky, making the entire cemetery look like daylight in an instant.

The human coalition forces fighting fiercely below had not yet reacted to what was happening when large groups of Skeletons and Zombies rapidly disintegrated under the illumination of the holy light and disappeared without a trace, as if they had never existed.

Fortunately, they were all Undead. If they were replaced by races like Demons, the visual impact would not have been so great.

After his "map cannon" eliminated all the small fry, Kael ignored the shouts of the human coalition below, but immediately flew towards the ancestral hall deep within the cemetery, his goal clear.

At the entrance of the ancestral hall, Khajiit and Clementine were pressed in front of Ainz by a group of masked battle maids, and they had no strength to resist at all. Clementine, with a bitter grin, tried to struggle but was helpless.

"Ainz-sama, what should we do with these two pests? Should we kill them?" Narberal threw Clementine to the ground and struck her back with the staff in her hand, forcing her to crawl on the ground with obvious pain.

Ainz glanced at the two people on the ground and said, "Take this woman back to Nazarick and hand her over to Neuronist Painkill (the torturer). And this... Necromancer, are you the one who summoned the Undead army outside?"

When Khajiit heard Ainz's question, his eyes suddenly lit up with a glimmer of hope for life, and he immediately replied with a fawning smile, trying to save himself. "Yes, my Lord! I can continue summoning Undead to seize this city, and then present it to you. I beg you to spare my life!"

"Alright, this suggestion isn't bad," Ainz nodded, a faint smile etched on his skull. Just as Khajiit thought he had been saved, he heard Ainz continue, "It's a pity your usefulness has already been decided. I still need you to promote the name of Ainz Ooal Gown."

"What... what does this mean!?" Khajiit's face froze, turning ashen. Although he didn't know what Ainz was going to do, he instinctively felt that something was wrong, a bad premonition gripping him.

At this moment, Ainz received a magical message from Demiurge, and left Khajiit and the other man aside.

"Hey, Demiurge, what happened?"

"Lord Ainz, the human named Kael has returned and is heading your way!"

"What?" Ainz was slightly surprised to hear this, but he had plans for dealing with this kind of situation, so he immediately ordered the battle maids, Sebas Tian, and the others, "You should leave first, a guest is coming."

"Yes!" Sebas Tian and the others immediately obeyed the command, then quickly hid in the ancestral hall carrying the incapacitated Clementine, disappearing into the shadows.

In the blink of an eye, only Ainz, Albedo, Shalltear, and the captive Khajiit remained at the scene, awaiting the unexpected "guest."

Golden light appeared in their field of vision, and its speed began to slow as it approached, finally descending slowly in front of the few people. Ainz took the initiative to step forward and greet him, his voice calm. "It's good to see you again, Mr. Kael."

"I feel nothing that would make me happy," Kael's tone was very flat, his gaze sweeping back and forth among the four individuals, and no emotion was visible on his face, only a cold tranquility.

Ainz was not angered by this, and asked tentatively, "I didn't expect you to defeat your opponent so quickly. Could it be that you deliberately held back your strength when we fought last time?"

"It's not over yet," Kael replied casually, then asked Ainz and the two others in a questioning tone, his eyes slightly narrowed. "What is your purpose in coming here? Do you want to help that person seize this city?"

"No, Mr. Kael misunderstands. Our purpose in coming here is the same as yours, to prevent this city's disaster," Ainz shook his head and explained to Kael, trying to sound convincing. However, he didn't know that the man in front of him was the mastermind behind all this chaos, and his explanation was merely a waste of words.

Just then, several people using [Fly] magic to follow Kael arrived at the scene. Seeing Ainz and his three companions confronting Kael, they almost instinctively fell to Kael's side, staring at the terrifying Overlord of Death before them with wary gazes. The people who arrived were Enri, Evileye from Blue Roses, and the Magic Caster followers from Carne Village.

Ainz saw the others arrive, so he winked at Albedo beside him. Albedo gripped Khajiit's leg and threw him between the two groups, like a worthless object.

"Gentlemen, this is our first meeting. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ainz Ooal Gown, and I have come here to quell this Undead menace," Ainz spoke in a deliberately friendly voice. "The man before us is the magic caster who caused this Undead disaster. We have captured him now. I'll leave him to you to deal with later."

Hearing this, Enri and the others exchanged glances, unsure how to respond. Confusion was clearly visible on their faces.

At this moment, Evileye stepped forward, narrowing her skeptical eyes, and asked, "According to information, this person should only be a minor follower. How can we believe that what you say is the truth, and not that you are actually his master, but you saw that things were impossible, so you deliberately cast him out as a scapegoat?"

"You rude wretch! What did you say!?" Albedo, standing beside him, was furious upon hearing Evileye's slander against Ainz, her face hardening. She swung her war axe and shouted, her anger overflowing. "How could Ainz-sama deceive a swarm of ants like you? How dare you disrespect the Almighty God? You deserve to die!"
