Chapter 7: The Trials Begin
"I bet we'll find cool dungeons and fight magic beasts!" Aaron exclaimed excitedly, practically bouncing with energy.
Lily laughed. "You always want a fight."
Right after she said that, the battleship began to descend. "We're here," said the pilot.
Without hesitation, Aaron and Lily leapt off the ship and landed on the misty island. They started walking through the trees—until the ground suddenly gave way beneath them.
THUD!
"Ugh, my head…" groaned Aaron.
"Oh no!" Lily said, brushing dirt off her shoulders. They looked around. They were in a deep, dark underground dungeon carved from stone and glowing moss.
Then they noticed it—ancient Amphibian writing etched into the wall.
"Conquer the Trials."
"Huh… what's that mean?" Lily asked, tilting her head.
Aaron pulled out his new journal. "It means we're meant to conquer the trials," he said, reading the translation.
"That's… weird," Lily muttered, stepping forward.
Neither of them noticed their eyes beginning to glow—Aaron's glowing black, Lily glowing red.
Drawn by something deep inside the dungeon, they walked forward together.
