Seconds later, the door behind them suddenly opened. Some people walked through.
"Old man, they left 40% of the money for us..." One of them came smiling and eloquent, until he saw an image that stunned him.
There was a headless corpse bleeding on the ground, and a head to the side, pointing towards him.
When he saw it, his body shuddered.
Then the other two looked beyond at the woman dressed in a white cloak and a man on his back in a large black suit.
For a brief moment, they shuddered in fear at the aura this guy emitted, but remembering that Chief Fraid was around, they took great courage and took two steps inside.
"Who are you, you bastard? How dare you touch Chief Fraid's possessions?" roared one of them, the one carrying a money bag.
His two companions drew their weapons at that moment. Guns, too, but nothing powerful or magical.
They were ordinary people.
Louis smiled coldly as he saw their reflections in the glass before him.
"I warned you earlier when you were searching me." He said suddenly, taking them by surprise.
"But you didn't listen to me." Louis finally stood up, kicked the desk behind him, and drew his gun on the spot.
They couldn't react in time. Louis pointed it at the middle one's head when they realized what was happening.
That beautiful silver weapon flashed in front of them again.
"You... Sir... Louis." The middle one took a step back. He was the one who had mediated the situation back then, when Louis had pointed it at the man who now lay dead on the ground.
That's why he could recognize him so well.
Louis smiled coldly and looked at Jessy.
He had noticed that when they walked in, her body trembled. "Was it them?" He asked.
She nodded, the hatred in her gaze was clear. But even though she wanted to move, she couldn't. The trauma of taking hundreds of blows prevented her.
But Louis smiled.
"Okay... I'm just going to ask a question for you guys." He stared at them. "Why did you do it?"
The three of them couldn't move. They knew a magic bullet could send them to the other side in seconds. It would be best to answer him.
"...It was..." One of them was quick to try to answer and, despite stuttering, soon completed what he wanted to say, "It was that bastard! He incited and forced us to do it!" He shouted, pointing to the man lying dead on the ground.
His quick reaction seemed to leave no room for doubt, but just then....
BAM*
The sound of a gunshot echoed in the room, and a head was blown to pieces. It belonged to the man on the right.
"I hate being lied to." He said coldly.
The two remaining could only watch the limp body of their companion fall backwards, dead.
They trembled, but quickly spoke.
"Sir, it's not a lie!"
BAM*
A second shot rang out, as Louis had moved his hand to the left, killing the one standing there in the same manner as the previous one.
"Killing them so easily doesn't feel right. But seeing that the fear in those two's eyes was minor, I should assume they were the ones who hurt her the least. So it's not bad either."
Louis lowered his gun and then walked over to the man who had collapsed on the ground and smiled at him.
His hand hit his cheek with a soft *pap* sound.
"I've left you, because you have received the most hatred from her. You looked so nice that day, but it was all a facade, wasn't it? So you're going to answer me everything I tell you." He smiled coldly and put his gun on his left knee.
"And I don't care if you don't want to."
His threatening and dangerous words forced a quick nod from the man. "I'll say anything!" He exclaimed, in great fear...
Then the interrogation began.
-
"Ah..." The man lying on the floor was writhing in pain, having a broken knee and arm. His body was shaking with pain, but Louis had left him alone.
"One last thing." Louis said, getting up. "Scream as loud as you can. Get that Chief Fraid over here."
He looked at him, confused.
Why did he want to bring Chief Fraid here? Wasn't he a-fraid?
With everything he had said, it was evident that one of Fraid's current companions was a powerful awakened one.
Why would he want to look for trouble?
But...
He suddenly saw a chance to get revenge and get out of here alive.
If he let him scream loud enough with the door open to lure Fraid out... then he would be saved.
So he quickly agreed.
When he saw the door open, he immediately yelled out loudly—several times to alert and call for help.
When the voice had crossed the door and reached every corner of this place, Louis smiled.
"Not bad." He spoke.
His gun was pointed at his head. "Your job is done." He smiled.
The man looked at him. "You-!" He tried to scream, but his head exploded with a "BAM" sound.
In the end, his body fell down, dying.
Jessy watched this in shock. "I thought you were going to let him live, sir. You bargained with him."
Louis laughed out loud. "Hahaha. We don't negotiate with terrorists here, Miss Jessy. We just use them. Get that straight."
Louis sat back, this time looking straight ahead.
She could only nod. It made sense.
"How much money did you steal from them?" Louis asked.
Jessy had participated in that guy's torture, too, so she was satisfied.
Now that she was calmer, she could speak better.
"All the money you gave us, sir. Apparently, they're targeting you... How about we get going? Chief Fraid is feared in the underworld. It is said that he has snipers watching where he goes. It's not a good idea to get into a fight with him."
Despite his suggestion, Louis was not afraid. He can fire many shots before filling his belly with potion liquid thanks to the mana potions that restore his passive energy.
Because of that and his current strength, he is completely confident in his actions.
"Don't worry."
He looked at the door and heard a large number of footsteps outside. They were all coming in this direction.
Soft, loud, echoing footsteps.
Also, the sound of metal clanking against metal and swords clashing against the floor.
All this noise gave Jessy goose bumps, but they brought a soft smile to his face.
Things would liven up in a few seconds.
