AVA'S POV
I was halfway through reading the revised community outreach proposal when I realized my coffee had gone cold.
Again.
The office was unusually quiet today. Melanie had stepped out for a logistics meeting with the events team, and the rest of the foundation staff were engrossed in their respective tasks.
I appreciated the silence, it gave me a moment to focus, but the stillness made time feel slower than usual.
I leaned back in my chair and rubbed the back of my neck, my eyes scanning the long to-do list on the tablet beside me.
There were calls to return, budgets to review, reports to finalize before next week's board meeting. My head ached just thinking about it.
I reached for my phone to text Ethan, just a short "I miss you", but stopped midway.
He was probably in the middle of another meeting in Paris. The time difference meant he was likely busy, and I didn't want to disturb him.
