Chapter 80 - Exploration Part 7

With great swiftness, Jonah retrieved one of his throwing spear and launched it toward one of the goblins who were still shocked by the ambush.

Shuck!

The monster fell to the ground and drenched in its own puddle of dark blood.

The shepherd shifted to his main spear and thrusted it forward to an advancing goblin.

The enemy tried to send its own offensive move toward Jonah, but the man's spear was quicker and more precise.

Before the goblin could swing its machete, Jonah's spear was already lodged deep within the monster's heart.

A goblin attempted to ambush Jonah as his weapon was still pierced on one of the monsters.

But like a wolf snatching its prey unaware, Shanny decapitated the goblin as she dashed by.

Jonah and Shanny then continued charging onto the bridge.

The last monster on this side of the cliff tried to give chase but Trudy caught the monster off guard and struck the creature from behind.

The seven goblins on the bridge were already alerted of the ambush. They were ready with their weapons anticipating my comrades' assault.

The three crossbow goblins hurriedly loaded their weapons and took aim on the advancing Jonah and Shanny.

Ping! Ping! Ping!

Three bolts were swiftly launched straight at them.

Jonah hurried ahead of Shanny and effortlessly parried the projectiles away with his slim spear.

Before the monsters could load another arrow, Darius struck one of them with his own and I killed two with a couple of pebbles.

Kreee!

The four goblins let out a horrible screech and leaped toward the shepherd and the maid.

But four enemies were nothing compared to the endless waves those two had to face on the fifth floor.

Jonah lunged himself forward with his spear ahead of him.

His charge was so quick and powerful that the goblins could not get away nor could they defend.

The shepherd lanced two goblins at once during that one assault.

To his side, Shanny bashed her shield against one of the goblins charging toward her.

As expected, the goblin was the one that faltered and ended up falling off the edge of the bridge, plunging to its death down at the bottom of the deep ravine.

The maid's sword then clashed against the last goblin's machete.

The sound of the two steels brushing hard against each other clanged throughout the bridge.

Shanny shifted the angle of her sword slightly and let the goblin suddenly slid through to her side, turning the creature off balanced.

Slash!

In that instant the swordswoman beheaded the monster in one smooth strike.

The remaining goblins on the other side scrambled around to support their fallen allies.

Their crossbow wielders hurriedly took aim on Jonah and Shanny as the two were regaining their stances to resume their charge,

Ping! Ping! Ping!

Seeing it unfold from the rear, I quickly raised my hand forward and casted a spell.

[Shield]

A translucent barrier formed at the mouth of the bridge, intercepting the bolts.

I disabled the shield and a pair of arrows flew by toward the goblins.

Two of the remaining crossbow goblins felled by Darius's arrows.

Swoosh!

The final one killed by Jonah's throwing spear.

The shepherd and the maid were now advancing to the other side.

Seven goblins remaining. They were all ready to take on my two comrades.

My blond-haired spearman looked back to me for an instant.

"Serafina, can I use my exploding spears?!"

Jonah shouted.

Seeing the rest of the goblins were on the other side of the bridge, away from the wooden construct, I could understand why he asked me that.

"You may!"

I replied back to him.

The shepherd immediately retrieved the crimson-streaked spear hanging on his back and threw it to the midst of the goblins ahead of him.

Boom!

A fiery blast erupted and eradicated three goblins into barely-recognizable pieces of flesh.

The rest four were scattered around on their backs, all marked with fresh charred wounds.

Shanny rushed ahead of the shepherd and claimed with her sword two goblins whom were already on their knees.

Trudy followed behind her and struck a third one that was still sprawled on the ground.

Jonah then came in and thrusted his spear to the final monster in the area.

Unlike on the sixth floor, we were soon engulfed in the bluish-white light as soon as the last enemy was defeated.

[Stage Clear!]

['Serafina (★★★★)', 'Jonah (★)', 'Shanny (★)', 'Darius (★★★)' levelled up!]

[MVP – 'Jonah (★)']

[Reward – 8,000G, Iron Ore (C) x2, Leather (C) x3]

Before I could throw my gaze around the surroundings to catch whatever details I could, the light had completely engulfed me and I soon found myself back in the mirrored chamber.

The number on the farthest left mirror had changed once more.

[Climb the tower and save the world!]

[Main Dungeon]

[Floor conquered - 7 -]

My comrades lowered their guard and put away their weapons.

"So that was it for the seventh floor."

Trudy remarked.

"Another exploration. I suppose we can't access it anymore as well."

Darius said disappointedly, I nodded to him.

"Possibly. We need to take mind of what we discovered in that floor."

"Another buried path and the dam, right?"

Jonah told me.

"And the goblins, of course."

Shanny added.

The region of the seventh floor was bigger than the sixth.

But if there were anything that we needed to pay attention to from that trial, it would be those three things my comrades mentioned.

We all stepped out from the rift and immediately the fairy welcomed us.

[Hold it right there!]

She shouted with her usual exaggerated pose and tone.

The winged-creature then hovered to Jonah and Shanny.

[You two! Take these stones with you! One each!]

She said while handing out two rainbow-colored carved stones.

Trudy quickly raised her eyebrows toward them.

"Aren't those…?!"

I nodded to her.

"The promotion stones."
