Examining her body, she touched the cloak made from Ryu Takeno's shed skin. She understood.
Takeno-kun, even dead, you're still protecting me…

The shed skin possessed incredible durability and fire resistance, being from a Gunerush with the Shokuryu Dragon Bloodline.
"Then you should die!"
Rend became even more hateful in Kumoko's eyes.
Rend: ???
What did I do? I did nothing! Is this necessary?
Rend slowly got up; Abyssal Magic had depleted its HP and SP, but its vitality remained. With over a hundred HP, killing Kumoko would allow it to recover fully.
This is bad!
Kumoko had used all her energy on the spell; only 10 MP remained, enough for one Poison Attack. But Rend's defense was too high; her fangs couldn't pierce it.
"Roar—!!"
Rend lunged at Kumoko.
It would crush and swallow the damned thing.

Rend was stunned.

According to her research, using magic required several steps.
First, understanding mana. This is mana comprehension.
Without understanding mana, magic using mana as fuel couldn't be used. This is a prerequisite for magic.
