Chapter 59 - Chapter 30: A Change in Attitude

"Can Fugaku still keep the Uchiha in check? Maybe I should have Itachi talk to them…"

Puff… puff…

Sarutobi Hiruzen sucked on his pipe, his thoughts drifting far away.

Might Guy, standing at attention, delivered his report:

"Yesterday, Hikari of the Sun-Chasers tested her chakra nature at the Ninja Tools Mastery Hall. She possesses all five basic chakra affinities innately."

"Hmm…"

If the Uchiha rebel, the Root faction also has all five chakra natures…

Wait—five? Five what?!

Hiruzen's train of thought derailed. After a pause, he snapped back to reality.

"Who has all five chakra natures?!"

"Hikari," Guy answered matter-of-factly.

As a pure taijutsu specialist, Guy didn't grasp the weight of this revelation. To him, it was just rare—something only the Third Hokage and Kakashi shared.

But Hiruzen?

He knew.

In combat, elemental advantage was everything. Countless battles had been won by weaker shinobi exploiting this very weakness.

Five affinities meant no elemental disadvantage—ever.

Kakashi, though unremarkable in raw power, leveraged this to fight above his weight class.

Hiruzen himself had taken it further—combining elements into devastating composite ninjutsu.

Even without a Kekkei Genkai, this made him one of the strongest Kage.

And now, Hikari had this trait—plus her sealless Water Release?

That was practically a pseudo-Kekkei Genkai!

What if she could do sealless for the other four elements too?!

The thought sent a chill down his spine.

With enough chakra, she'd be a one-woman artillery unit.

Hiruzen's posture straightened, his earlier lethargy gone.

"Continue," he ordered, voice sharp.

Guy, sensing his payday nearing, obliged:

"This morning, she mastered the Konoha Strong Fist. Her taijutsu is extremely powerful."

"Hold on."

Hiruzen raised a hand.

"Define 'extremely powerful.'"

Guy pondered.

"Stronger than me. Faster? Not sure. But her durability is insane. Without the Eight Gates, I might not even scratch her."

His voice grew heavy as he recalled that kick—his full-power Konoha Senpū, blocked by her forearm. The recoil had left him numb, while she barely flinched.

Her tiny frame was deceptively dense—like steel wrapped in stone.

"Her physicality is that strong?!"

Hiruzen set aside the Uchiha dossier, now fully engrossed.

A sealless, five-element ninjutsu specialist…

Who was even stronger in taijutsu?

And blind, yet unimpaired?

A true all-rounder?!

His interest ignited.

"Go on!" he urged, voice rising.

Guy, eager to collect his payment, sped up:

"I taught her the Eight Gates this morning.

Without any prior training, she opened up to the Fourth Gate—Shōmon.

According to Kakashi, she fully controlled the life-force overflow. At her peak, her chakra levels neared elite jōnin.

But… I think she was holding back."

Silence.

The office froze.

Guy's report—each sentence a bomb—left Hiruzen stunned.

Too much.

Too fast.

Puff…

Hiruzen exhaled smoke, the nicotine jolting him back.

"Guy… Just give me the written report."

"Oh. Right."

Guy handed it over.

Beyond Hikari's monstrous talents, the document contained her backstory—shared over breakfast.

According to her:

- She hailed from a minor shinobi clan in Kirigakure.

- Their "treasure" drew the Mizukage's attention.

- Result? Massacre. She was the sole survivor.

- Now, she sought strength in Konoha—for revenge.

The tale—dramatic, heart-wrenching—had moved Guy to tears.

Kakashi, ever the skeptic, remained wary but softened slightly.

Hiruzen skimmed the details.

The broad strokes held up, but holes existed—omissions.

Yet, he didn't care.

Not with this level of talent.

At her age, even Hashirama paled in comparison.

If she truly embraced Konoha? Her value could eclipse the troublesome Uchiha.

The cleaner her background, the better.

So what if parts were fabricated?

As long as she wasn't a threat, he'd play along.

No memory probes.

Too risky.

What if the Yamanaka messed up her genius brain?

"We'd end up with another Guy. And who'd fix that?"

A person's worth dictated their treatment. Hikari earned his caution.

"If only she'd been born in Konoha…"

Hiruzen sighed.

That would've been perfect—a pure heir to the Will of Fire.

At his age, he might've even taken her as his final student.

His disciples?

- Tsunade—absorbed in Senju heritage.

- Jiraiya—lost to toad sage nonsense.

- Orochimaru—the closest, yet only half-learned his arts.

None had inherited his Enma-enhanced staff combat.

Hikari?

Five elements. Peerless taijutsu.

A perfect match.

The longing twisted his gut.

But—

No.

Until her past was confirmed, he couldn't risk it.

His students were future Hokage candidates.

If she was a plant…

"I'd never face Hashirama-sama and Tobirama-sama in the Pure Land again."

He wouldn't gamble Konoha's future.

---

Meanwhile…

Guy fidgeted, his patience thinning.

"Is the village this broke?!

Just pay me already!"

Hiruzen's face contorted—locked in some existential crisis.

Guy's hope for early missions dwindled.

"Damn it… All the good jobs will be gone!"
