"Hisoka and Loki are on the ring, but they don't seem ready to fight," the announcer said. "They're talking."
The announcer saw Loki smile. "Loki's smiling. Are they friends?"
The referee approached. "Begin fighting, or you'll both be penalized!"
"No choice. I wanted more information," Hisoka said, stretching, his bones cracking. He stared at Loki. "Let's begin!"
"Okay!"
Loki felt something was wrong. He instinctively used Gō! As Hisoka stretched, his Nen shot towards Loki, using In to make it hard to detect. But Loki's senses were sharp. He saw the hidden Nen.
Loki smiled. Flames erupted from his feet, engulfing him. Hisoka's Nen entered the flames, intensifying them. Hisoka noticed the change.
"Too bad. You saw through it so quickly," Hisoka frowned.
'Instinctive sensing!' Hisoka thought. Loki's strength increase wasn't scary; his quick reaction was. Only experienced Nen users use Gō when something's wrong. Loki's strength and experience had increased too quickly. Strength can be trained, but experience can't. Only one possibility remained.
'He uses talent to compensate for experience. That's enviable!' Hisoka was more surprised by Loki's danger-sensing ability than his strength.
"Cunning magician, that's you, Hisoka," Loki said, emerging from the flames.
The audience was excited.
"Amazing!" the announcer gasped. "Loki controls flames, unharmed by them. The flames are like kittens around him."
The audience was in an uproar. Hisoka sped towards Loki's right, vanishing instantly. Loki turned, his eyes on Hisoka.
Hisoka stopped behind Loki after seeing Loki keep up. Loki turned.
"You easily kept up. Staring at the magician is good, but sometimes you need to watch other things," Hisoka said, raising his right hand and extending his index finger.
Loki used Gō. He saw Nen threads from Hisoka's finger to behind him.
"Bungee Gum! It has the properties of gum and rubber!"
Hisoka pulled the sticky Nen. Bang bang bang! Floorboards flew towards Loki.
Loki snapped his fingers.
"Flame Ring!"
He drew a semicircle; flames appeared, forming a ring around his waist.
"Fire Pillar!"
A pillar of fire erupted from the ring, engulfing Loki. The Nen-imbued rocks shattered against the fire pillar.
"Good technique!!!" Hisoka said, watching his Nen on the rocks. It burned away instantly; the rocks shattered.
'He can even ignite aura!' Flames that ignite Nen are hard to deal with. Hisoka's Bungee Gum often requires sticking Nen to the opponent. Loki's flames could ignite Nen, preventing direct contact.
"Fire Gun!!!"
Tatatatata! The fire pillar dissipated; rocks fell. Loki aimed at Hisoka like a gun, firing small flames.
Hisoka's eyes narrowed.
'He developed not only abilities, but also Nen techniques! This requires more than just talent.'
Hisoka dodged quickly. The ground shattered from Loki's flames. Hisoka's dodging speed increased.
Loki used Gō. Hisoka moved using Nen in his hands and feet; when he moved, Nen shot out, sticking to the ground. He used rubber's elasticity to increase speed. This made him look like a giant spider.
Loki noticed something odd. Hisoka was creating a web on the ring, using Bungee Gum's rubber and gum properties. He'd created Nen threads on the ground, walls, and ceiling. Loki was in a spiderweb.
Loki stopped attacking. "My flames burn Nen. You know that," he said.
"Of course!"
"Is this useful?"
Loki released flames, burning the Nen. Bang bang! Rocks flew at Loki. He dodged. They collided and stuck together.
"Once touched, they contract, pulling things together!" Hisoka said, producing a card. "It won't be effective, but it creates opportunities."
Bang bang! A huge lamp fell from the ceiling.
Loki threw a flame; it engulfed the lamp, burning it to ash.
Loki shook his head. "Good, but useless!"
Flames erupted from his arms, rotating. He shot them out. "Burning Net!"
Whoosh whoosh whoosh! Two flames spread along the ring's edges, forming huge fire walls, surrounding the ring. The heat hit Hisoka's face. Sweat dripped. The ring's temperature rose.
Hisoka's prepared attack began. Nen-imbued rocks fell from the ceiling and walls. But the fire walls blocked them. Before they hit the ring, flames erupted. A fireball exploded, burning everything.
"Amazing! Rocks fell from the walls, but Loki's flames blocked them! The ring is enveloped in flames; we can't see inside!" the announcer said. "The referee jumped off. This fight is amazing!"
Loki smiled. "Your Nen seems countered by mine."
