"Enough, Fatima. Since you promised Rachel, you have to follow through! I'm just helping you fulfill your promise," Ralph scolded her, then turned to Rachel with a forced smile. "Rachel, here's your check."
Rachel took the check in her hands and left the store with Josephine.
"Rachel, don't you think something's off?" Josephine asked as soon as they stepped outside. "Ralph just handed you $480,000 without a second thought, and Celeste was right there! Isn't he worried Celeste might misunderstand?"
"It is strange," Rachel agreed.
"Do you think Ralph still likes you?" Josephine speculated.
"No, it's more like he's scared. It's as if he's afraid I'll get mad at Fatima and cause trouble for the Patel Family," Rachel shared her feelings.
Josephine found the idea absurd. "Maybe he's overthinking it."
"Who knows," Rachel shrugged, looking at the check in her hand.
"What are you going to do with the check? Tear it up?" Josephine asked, knowing her friend's character.
