The so-called fixed-installation Soul Tool isn't all that different from standard Soul Tools. Although it sounds like an innovative idea, it's essentially the same as a modern gun and bullet setup. The Soul Tool acts as the launcher, and the bullet is the payload. Only when the two are used together can they unleash their full power. On their own, they're useless—not even as good as a stick for stoking a fire.
The Soul Tool handgun is merely a triggering mechanism. What actually killed the Soul King was the bullet.
Each bullet in Xu Yang's gun is a level-three Soul Tool Explosive Flame Bullet, engraved with both Piercing and Explosive soul power circuits. When combined with his Sun-attribute Soul Power, just one bullet is enough to bring down a Soul King.
Meanwhile, Dugu Yan's dual pistols are loaded with poison bullets. Anyone hit will be afflicted by Jade Phosphor Serpent venom, which is just as deadly as Xu Yang's explosive rounds.
"Uncle Ning, you take care of the Soul Masters above the Soul Emperor level. Yanzi and I can handle the Soul Kings!"
"Alright!"
Ning Haiyan nodded seriously. He'd seen the power of the Soul Tool handgun firsthand and knew that with it, Xu Yang had no problem dealing with Soul Kings. He swung his Blazing Flame Blade, leaving streaks in the air. His first six Soul Skills began flashing one after another, weaving together. In an instant, the air filled with blade aura, forming massive Blazing Flame Blades that surged toward the distant Soul Emperors and Soul Saints.
At the same time, Xu Yang and Dugu Yan took flight, wings flapping as they rose high into the sky. From their aerial vantage point, they looked down at the groups of Soul Elders and Soul Kings below.
At that moment, the advantage of being able to fly was clear. Most Soul Elders and Soul Kings couldn't fly at all, and their ranged attacks couldn't reach the two in the air. Before any attacks even got close, Xu Yang and Dugu Yan had already dodged them with ease.
As for the few Soul Elders and Soul Kings who could fly, they were shot down before they could get close.
Most flying Soul Masters belong to the Agility Attack System, with a few from the Power Attack and Control Systems. Defense-type Soul Masters were extremely rare, so when faced with gunfire—
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Dugu Yan fired continuously, green bullets raining down like a storm. Though each shot didn't guarantee a kill, they forced enemies to retreat in chaos. A single hit from a poison bullet meant certain death.
Xu Yang's Explosive Flame Bullets were even deadlier—one hit meant instant death.
Because of that, the Spirit Hall Soul Masters approached with extreme caution. They'd seen their allies fall one after another, and even the bravest couldn't help but feel fear.
"Five, six, seven, eight, nine... now's the time."
An Eagle-type Soul King from Spirit Hall silently counted the number of shots Xu Yang had fired. When Xu Yang fired the twelfth bullet, the Soul King sprang forward. His first, third, fourth, and fifth Soul Rings lit up, and he shot through the air like a bolt of light. As his wings beat rapidly, countless feathers turned into a rain of arrows, blotting out the sky as they flew toward Xu Yang.
At the same time, his hands transformed into deadly eagle claws, gleaming with cold light. As a Soul Master of the Agility Attack System, his speed was incredibly fast, trailing right behind the feather storm.
"I figured it out long ago! That Soul Tool of yours needs a parts change after every twelve shots—and this is the perfect moment!"
The Eagle Soul King's face was full of confidence, hoping to see panic on Xu Yang's face.
But instead of panic, Xu Yang smirked. With a flick of his left hand, he stored the Soul Tool handgun back into his Storage Ring. His right hand gripped the Sun Sacred Blade tightly, and golden flames ignited across his armor. He looked at the incoming enemy with a sneer.
"Did you really think this armor and blade are just for show?"
The Eagle Soul King's expression changed in surprise, but he didn't believe Xu Yang could actually win. After all, Xu Yang was only a quasi–Soul Ancestor (Sect). Even with a Ten-Thousand-Year third Soul Ring, there was no way he could cross over ten levels of Soul Power to defeat a Soul King.
Instead of slowing down, the Eagle Soul King poured more Soul Power into his attack, sending shadow-like claw strikes straight for Xu Yang's neck.
Facing the storm of feathered arrows, Xu Yang narrowed his eyes. The aura around him suddenly changed—like a long-dormant volcano erupting. Wild and overbearing Soul Power surged outward, carrying a presence that felt like it could burn everything to ash.
"Break!"
Xu Yang let out a low roar, sweeping his Sun Sacred Blade in a wide arc across the sky. A terrifying wave of blade aura exploded outward, slicing clean through the arrow storm like a line cutting sea and sky. Feathers that got close burned to ash before they even reached him.
"Die!"
The Eagle Soul King roared. Xu Yang's last move had left him wide open—it was hard to change form mid-move. This was his perfect chance. He instantly closed the gap, and the sharp eagle claws reached for Xu Yang's throat in a flash.
"It's done! The credit this time is all mine!"
But the triumphant grin on the Soul King's face disappeared just as quickly.
Suddenly, small vents on Xu Yang's armor blasted out golden flames, propelling his body a full meter sideways—just enough to dodge the deadly claw strike. At the same time, the Sun Sacred Blade in his hand slashed out. The red-gold edge shimmered through the air with a faint hum, slicing directly at the Eagle Soul King's neck.
The Soul King tried to retreat, but his previous lunge had too much momentum. Compared to Xu Yang, his movement had been even more aggressive, and now the inertia made it impossible to dodge. He could only twist his neck instinctively, trying to evade the fatal strike.
Slash!
A bloody head flew high into the sky. Thick blood rained down from above, leaving the Soul Masters of Spirit Hall stunned in place like statues.
From what seemed like certain victory to a sudden reversal and decapitation, it had happened in the blink of an eye. Their excitement hadn't even had time to fade before fear froze them in place.
"I told you, my armor and blade aren't just for decoration,"
Xu Yang floated steadily in the air. He calmly pulled his Soul Tool handgun back out from his Storage Ring and began swapping out the magazine—right in front of the stunned Spirit Hall Soul Masters.
Xu Yang's armor wasn't just for defense. It also boosted his physical strength and used flame propulsion to enhance movement—changing direction mid-air, sudden acceleration, and more. With his refined Soul Power, abnormal physical strength, and mental fortitude, killing a Soul King in a flash was more than possible.
The scene may have looked risky, but everything had been calculated by Xu Yang. After surviving multiple assassination attempts and life-or-death battles, he was no longer the rookie he once was.
"Kill him! There's no way he can take out all of our Soul Elders and Soul Kings!"
In an instant, every flying Soul Elder and Soul King charged toward Xu Yang. Meanwhile, the ground forces launched continuous harassment attacks using their own Soul Master abilities.
"Yan, there are too many of them—we can't take them all. Save your bullets. Wait until they get close, then strike. We just need to stall for as long as we can!"
Xu Yang dodged a Soul Master's strike with a quick sidestep and shouted to Dugu Yan, who was also weaving through the incoming attacks.
