Cherreads

Chapter 18 - Their queen, their mother, was dead.

"I will rip that roar from her throat."

The Queen of the Thalindra roared intensely, hissing in a different tone now. But thanks to Samuel's Divine and Godlike ability, he could understand their language, instantly.

She hissed one word, lowly and sharp in its language, "Attack."

The remaining reptiles were, over a hundred, strong, shrieked and charged toward Samuel in a frenzied and berserk state. Samuel gritted his teeth, using all of his strength to leap sideways. As he landed, he quickly extended his right arm, the "Hand of War" glowing a dark red energy.

With a crushing motion, he smashed a wave of the reptiles against the swampy walls. Bones cracked. Their Flesh squished. In a second Dozens were annihilated instantly.

The Queen hissing again, this time more enraged, she began spitting out a green acidic liquid that sprayed the area. It hissed and burned through everything, even killing some of her own reptilian children. Her rage made her reckless.

Lira jumped in front of Samuel, throwing up her divine shield with the last of her strength. The shield absorbed the acid but was quickly overwhelmed, weakening under the weight of it. Samuel didn't hesitate. He moved, placing his body over Lira to protect her, exposing his back.

His back skin melted almost instantly.

The pain was unimaginable. His flesh peeled off. His Muscles and arteries were exposed. His bones sizzled from the acid effect, but he didn't scream. He clenched his jaw and endured it all. But The fumes from the acid had made Lira pass out in his arms.

The Queen and her remaining horde slowly advanced. Samuel, skinless and shaking, regenerating, tried to stand.

Then he remembered.

Arithmos, The God of War, had told him once. "That blade in your hand is not just steel. It's alive. It listens to your every will."

Out of desperation, Samuel stared at Aegirion, which was stuck in the ground beside him.

He whispered, "If you're alive if you can hear me... please protect her. She is my key to the divine realm, my key to revenge, Don't let anything reach her."

But still Nothing.

Silence.

Samuel lowered his head in frustration. The pain of failure and the weight of guilt crawled through him.

he shouted in anger, blood flying from his mouth, "I command you, Aegirion!, As your current welder, Protect Lira! Cut down anything that gets past Me!"

And then, a voice. A broad one.

"Yes. Your wish is my command..."

Samuel's eyes widened. He was dumbfounded, but didn't have time to be amazed or question it.

The horde of reptiles was nearly upon them.

He stood, broken, bleeding, with a smirk.

"Good," he exclaimed, under his breath.

He looked up as the sky darkened and the rain began to fall. Thunder cracked.

He stepped forward to face the remaining horde of over 150 reptiles and the massive Queen.

Samuel's body pulsed with dark green energy. He channeled all his essence into his arms and legs. His muscles swelled and hardened like steel. His skin, where it had healed, glistened under the downpour of the rain.

"You want this flesh?" he muttered. "Come and get it, you damn lizard."

The queen smiled.

He took off.

The speed was unreal. His movements generated friction against the rain, causing sparks of green lightning to ripple around him. Each step was faster than the last. A blur. Velocity. The reptiles couldn't even react.

He ripped through their ranks, reaping, smashing, tearing. Heads flew. Limbs were decapitated. Blood and flesh splattered the muddy soil.

The Queen roared and fired another stream of her acidic liquid. Samuel darted around it, disappearing and reappearing like a ghost.

He landed on her head.

She thrashed, trying to throw him off, but he held tight, grabbing down on her horns. He forced her head downwards, redirecting her acid breath into the ranks of her own reptilian children.

Dozens more died in an instant, burned alive by their mother's acids.

She hissed, stomped, and spun violently, crushing more of her own children beneath her feet.

Meanwhile, Lira began to regain consciousness. Her eyes opened slowly. Her vision was blurry, but she could hear the sound of flesh tearing. When she looked up, her heart nearly stopped.

Aegirion, Samuel's blade, was moving on its own.

Floating. Fighting. Alive.

She gasped in shock. "In the name of the Goddess....?"

The blade slashed through the air, cutting down any reptiles that tried to approach, lira.

Then it spoke to her.

"Stand down, child."

The blade moved with accuracy and speed. It twisted, spun, and dropped downwards, slicing the enemies like they were nothing. Blood poured from every direction as the blade continued its rampage, protecting her.

Back on top of the Queen, Samuel held firmly.

His right arm pulsed with dark red energy. The "Hand of War"

Samuel created a dark red, construct of his hands.

Jamming his glowing arms into her throat, blocking her acidic sac.

She roared and hissed in pain, her own acid, was now leaking back down into her gut. Her body began to shake violently.

Samuel saw it. And opening.

Cracks. The swelling.

He jumped down just as the Queen thrashed her head back.

"Aegirion!" he screamed, his eyes filled with, hope.

The blade answered.

It flew from mid-battle, killing some reptiles, in the act, slamming into Samuel's outstretched hand.

With a final yell, he drove his blade into her swollen stomach.

The Queen screamed.

Her belly split open, her internal organs pouring out onto the swampy soil. Acid leaked from every orifice. She stumbled back, falling to the ground in a pool of her own blood and insides.

Still, her limbs twitched.

Samuel raised his hand, calling on the "Hand of War" once more.

He ripped a massive rock from the swampy floor and crushed her skull beneath it. Multiple times.

Then Silence.

It was only the sound of rainfall.

He stood there, panting, the dark red glow of his arm fading.

The remaining reptiles were scattered, trembling, terrified.

Their queen, their mother, was dead.

Samuel raised his blade.

"Aegirion," he declared coldly, "Kill every single one of these God damn lizards."
