Lucas remembered: after a Tera Orb is used for Terastallization, all the stored Tera Energy inside is depleted, so a trainer can't Terastallize a second time until it's recharged.
And to recharge Tera Energy, there are two options.
The first is to go to a Pokémon Center in a town or city, where you can use equipment invented by Professors Sada and Turu to recharge the orb.
However, since Tera Orbs hasn't yet been mass-produced, these recharge devices are only found in a few large cities in the Paldea region. The small town of Los Platos wasn't included.
The second option is to find the rare Tera Crystals scattered throughout the vast Paldea region. When your Tera Orb contacts a Tera Crystal, the orb will automatically recharge.
This method is more feasible, but unfortunately, Lucas hadn't seen any Tera Crystals near the farm yet, so he'd have to wait a while before recharging.
Thinking of this, Lucas sighed, having to give up on the idea of discovering the Tera Types of his other Pokémon, apart from his Swampert.
Luxray and Serperior were almost certainly Tera Electric and Tera Grass. The only mysteries were Ceruledge, Mimikyu, and Dragonite.
Arven tugged Lucas' sleeve, asking curiously, "So, does this mean we can plant crops and harvest food now?"
Lucas pondered for a moment. "Well, as long as the land is properly prepared, and the crops do not require a specific season or soil, it should work."
"I'm only half-sure about all this, and I haven't decided what to plant first."
Arven looked speechless. Even though he was just a ten-year-old, he could see how unreliable Lucas was—he seemed to know nothing about farming, almost like a complete outsider.
"Brother Lucas, you…"
Arven hesitated for a long time, not knowing what to say.
Lucas laughed and patted Arven on the shoulder twice, almost making him stumble, and said mysteriously, "I know what you want to say. I'm well aware I'm an amateur—that's why we should go ask a professional!"
Arven rubbed his sore shoulder and tilted his head.
Jones Farm was one of the main sources of crops for Los Platos. The produce from here was distributed to local tables, and even sold in Paldea's big cities.
With such a large operation, of course, it paid a lot of taxes and received special treatment from the town authorities.
Jones Farm was located a little farther west of the land Lucas had bought, still on the outskirts of Los Platos, bordering some wild areas.
But in terms of facilities and expertise, Jones Farm was way ahead of Lucas' empty plot.
At the security booth outside the farm, it was just after lunch. Peering through the glass, Lucas saw an old man napping leisurely on a deck chair.
Lucas looked at his ordinary watch, which cost a few hundred bucks, confirming it was past two o'clock, and knocked lightly on the glass. "Sir, we'd like to register as visitors."
The old man had a straw hat over his face to block the afternoon sun. It was only after Lucas knocked three more times that he slowly woke up, bleary-eyed.
A young man, a child…and a dog?
The odd combination puzzled the old man, but he dutifully stood up, yawned, and pulled out a register. "Name?"
Lucas smiled. "Lucas Blade. I made an appointment to visit earlier, could you check?"
The old man looked up and examined Lucas, flipping through the pages with aged fingers, put on reading glasses, and grinned. "Hey, you're right—appointment for two o'clock this afternoon. Looks like I overslept."
"Sorry about that."
"No worries," Lucas shook his head, indicating he didn't mind. "As agreed before, could you help us contact someone to show us around?"
"No problem, no problem," the old man sighed with relief and picked up the phone. Suddenly he paused, looking at Arven and the Mabosstiff, hesitantly asking, "And these two?"
Lucas glanced at Arven and the Mabosstiff, then explained calmly, "A relative's kid and their Pokémon. They needed me to look after them. Is that okay?"
The old man hesitated but eventually dialed.
Soon, someone arrived.
The newcomer was in his early twenties, with a buzz cut and sharp, bright eyes—a clear, energetic look. He seemed to have just come from the fields, with fresh mud on his pants and a big straw hat on his back, looking a bit like an oversized Bug Catcher from a game.
The young man flashed a big smile and, after taking over from the old man, led Lucas and the others into Jones Farm.
Jones Farm specializes in planting seasonal fruits and vegetables. The farm wasn't huge, about half the size of Lucas' land.
But Lucas had divided his land into zones, so his actual farming area was much smaller than Jones Farm's.
On the way, the young man briefly introduced himself. His name was Peter, and he was in charge of fruits and vegetables at the farm—basically, the professional.
Peter explained that the Joneses were honored a fellow farmer wanted to learn from them, but were currently away on business at the Porto Marinada market, so he was in charge of hosting.
"I heard someone recently bought up the abandoned land nearby—turns out that was you?" Peter looked grateful and shook Lucas' hand. "The boss debated for a long time whether to take over that plot, but you beat us to it!"
Lucas felt a bit awkward. He remembered the mayor had mentioned there were others interested in the land, but hesitating over the price. Lucas, after a year of traveling and saving up, had just bought it outright.
He hadn't expected the Joneses to be among those interested.
"First come, first served, don't mind!" Peter gripped Lucas' hand harder. "Honestly, I'm grateful you bought it—otherwise my workload would have doubled!"
"So, if you have any questions, just ask!"
