Chapter 109 - Chapter 109: Scepter and Limited Gem

Now John's underground laboratory has three things from outside this world.

Destroyer, Casket of Ancient Winters, Mind Scepter.

However, when it comes to the special nature of the items, the Mind Scepter ranks first.

The Mind Stone within it is one of the Infinity Stones, possessing the ability to easily brainwash S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

As agents, a special group of people, they inherently require sufficient willpower and intelligence.

Barton, as a top performer among them, his abilities are beyond doubt.

In the Magic World, there is also the ability to brainwash and control others.

Imperius Curse.

This is an evil ability known as one of the three Unforgivable Curses.

For a period in the Magic World, there was chaos caused by the followers of a noseless evil wizard named Voldemort.

After Voldemort's downfall, his followers used the excuse of being controlled by the Imperius Curse to escape the punishment of being sent to Azkaban and clear their names.

Both are forms of control, but the Imperius Curse is not as powerful as the Mind Stone.

Some people with strong willpower can break free from or even be immune to the Imperius Curse.

A certain Mr. Potter, who wishes to remain anonymous and is now a legendary Auror in the magic world, successfully broke free from the Imperius Curse through willpower while studying at Hogwarts.

And that was a group of students.

Dealing with S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, who are all at the upper level of ordinary humans, controlling them is even more incredibly difficult.

John opened the express box and took out the Mind Scepter, which was Loki's biggest reliance upon coming to this world.

It was also the Mind Scepter that allowed Loki to brainwash Selvig and others for his use, building the machine to activate the Cosmic Cube.

Now holding it in his hand, John could once again feel the powerful, irrational energy residing within the scepter's container.

"Magic power has increased."

He looked for an experimental subject and swung the Mind Scepter in his left hand.

A basketball-sized ball of light landed on the metal target, turning it into molten iron.

"Tsk, too bad, quite a few people are eyeing this thing."

Actually, John really wanted to keep the Mind Scepter.

But unfortunately, whether it was because of the correct path of the future or because this scepter was originally given to Loki by Thanos.

He couldn't keep it.

The involvement was too great, and Nick Fury, that bald head, had long suspected if he had stolen the Mind Scepter.

Although Fury racked his brain, he couldn't figure out that this thing was actually personally given to John by his dear Avengers.

But how does that saying go? The process is wrong, but the result is right.

Rounding it up, saying it was stolen by John isn't wrong.

John didn't want to hand it over to Fury so quickly. He connected various instruments combining modern and magic technology to the Mind Scepter.

Like the Cosmic Cube, the power within the Mind Scepter is numerous.

When this power is applied to the human body, it can enhance mental power, resulting in a qualitative leap.

John used the old wand to tap on the glowing Mind Scepter, and a thread of yellow, crystal-clear energy was dragged out by him.

He placed this thread of energy in his palm and crushed it.

His mental power was amplified.

He could clearly perceive the slight shaking of water cups inside vehicles driving outside this house.

He could also see Tony embracing Pepper in the damaged Stark Tower, planning the renovation of the new Stark Tower.

Just a thread of energy was enough for John to cover all of Manhattan with his mental power.

The energy lasted for five minutes, and John withdrew from that miraculous state.

He looked at the Mind Scepter. If he could absorb all the energy...

Unfortunately, for the sake of the plot, John couldn't do that.

He shook his head with some regret.

His right hand was covered in Silver Hand, and he stared at a Super Magic Crystal on the back of his hand.

But then again...

And nobody said he couldn't absorb some of the energy from inside, right?

Looking at his glove, a single color is plain and boring, adding fancy colors makes it look exquisite.

He stroked his chin, his eyes narrowed like a cunning fox.

Essentially, besides providing energy, magic crystals can also be used for storage.

Since he couldn't keep the Mind Scepter, he might as well extract half the energy just for the sake of it.

No sooner said than done, John took out a cauldron, one of the top ten most popular items among wizards.

Compared to essentials like wands and flying brooms, cauldrons can be said to be the most indispensable item for wizards in the fields of potions and alchemy.

One cauldron refines everything; this is the most basic understanding of every Potions Master.

Continuously drawing energy from within the Mind Scepter.

Thanks to the Mind Scepter itself serving a function similar to a weapon.

And a weapon inherently has methods for controlling and outputting Mind Stone energy.

Finding the right method, it could be released continuously without John even needing to do anything.

As he began to extract energy, it also meant he had to go into seclusion.

The Casket of Ancient Winters in the crystal box was emitting cold air, and John also borrowed it.

The Casket of Ancient Winters can freeze everything, even energy.

Loki once used the Casket of Ancient Winters to freeze the operating Rainbow Bridge, which even Thor couldn't break, only stopping it by smashing the Rainbow Bridge.

John wanted to use the Casket of Ancient Winters to freeze the energy extracted from the Mind Scepter, combined with his Super Magic Crystal, to create a weakened version of the Mind Stone.

Although it couldn't compare to the real Mind Stone, the energy it carried was enough to bring this world to a standard of global warmth sharing.

The wand stirred the cauldron, injecting harmonized and refined magic power into it.

The powers converged, forming a beautiful golden color.

"This reminds me of Felix Felicis."

He stared at the golden cauldron; the liquid inside was changing as it conflicted with the energy.

Upon reaching the critical point, the golden liquid inside boiled and churned, and he threw the removed Super Magic Crystal into it.

All the energy surged into the crystal.

The purple Super Magic Crystal disappeared, replaced by a yellow, crystal-clear, oval-shaped gem.

This gem was extremely unstable; one could even feel the vast energy within it, like a volcano about to erupt.

John took out the Casket of Ancient Winters and activated it.

Eternal Ice Seal, with its ability to freeze everything, collided with the yellow gem.

The huge turbulence generated by the two caused the entire laboratory to tremble.

Golden runes rotated on John's right hand, and the Destroyer Armor immediately came before him, ready in a defensive posture.

The competing forces finally determined a winner, and the laboratory turned into a giant freezer.

The gem's energy stabilized. John had the Destroyer walk over and delicately pick up the gem with its thick fingers.

After confirming it was stable, John reached out and took the gem.

It was the same size as a magic crystal, but the gem glowed with yellow light, something even the top-grade yellow sapphires didn't have.

"Let's call you the Limited Stone."

John nodded with satisfaction and placed the gem into the empty gem slot on his right hand.

The moment it was placed in, threads of energy traveled through John's body's meridians, causing John to involuntarily make a sound.

The energy contained in this gem far exceeded what the Super Magic Crystal provided.

It could also continuously increase John's magic power and strengthen his mental power through subtle influence.

He began to regret letting Thor take the Cosmic Cube away so quickly. If he had also extracted the Cosmic Cube's energy, he would have two Limited Stones.

In the future, he would have to find an opportunity to go to Asgard and get his hands on the Cosmic Cube.

The Silver Hand faded and turned into a ring, which John wore on his right hand. He then looked at the Casket of Ancient Winters.

The upper limit of this thing is really high.

Reaching out and touching his chest, John was still thinking about what the Casket of Ancient Winters was missing.

He could feel that this thing was not the complete version.

As for the missing part, John couldn't get it out for the time being.

Because that thing itself was banished by him, to get it out, he would need to go to that place again.

The complete version of the Casket of Ancient Winters must have an upper limit above the Destroyer.

A divine artifact from Jotunheim, John was the only person besides the Frost Giants who could use the Casket of Ancient Winters.

He spent some more time researching the Casket of Ancient Winters in the laboratory.

He wasn't in a hurry to agree to Fury's matter. Anyway, the Mind Scepter was already in his hands, so there was no rush for the time being.

He wasn't in a hurry, but Fury was dumbfounded.

They had agreed to help find the scepter, but John ended up staying at home for half a month.

He had no intention of going out at all.

If it weren't for his fear of John's strength, he would have wanted to go in and drag him out.

Half a month passed, and new things also appeared in New York.

At the time when the superhero era began, a brand new department was also born.

The Damage Control Bureau, jointly created by the government and Stark, appeared in the battlefield ruins and began taking over the Chitauri weapons.
