Chapter 33 - Chapter 32-Echoes of Silence

In the conference room, the air was thick with the intensity of their kiss. Jimin sat on the table, his legs spread apart as he held Jungkook by the waist, pulling him closer. Jungkook's hands were on Jimin's face, deepening the kiss as his body pressed against Jimin's.

But just as things were heating up, a phone's ringtone shattered the moment. It was Jungkook's phone. They paused for a split second but weren't ready to break the kiss. Jimin, now out of breath, gently tapped Jungkook's chest. With a soft sigh, Jungkook pulled away, but their lips were still connected by a thin strand of saliva. It was messy, but neither of them cared.

Jungkook gazed at Jimin, his heart racing, and whispered against his lips, "I love you."

Jimin didn't have the energy to respond. Instead, he wrapped his arms around Jungkook's neck and buried his face in the crook of his shoulder, letting his emotions speak through the embrace. Jungkook smiled softly at Jimin's reaction, feeling his heart swell even more.

But then, once again, Jungkook's phone rang, this time louder. He groaned in frustration, pulling his phone from his pocket as he glared at the screen. Whoever it was, they were about to get an earful for interrupting such a perfect moment.

It turned out to be his secretary. Jungkook sighed heavily, ready to scold the poor soul on the other end. But before he could, the secretary spoke in urgency.

"Sir Mr. Kim Seokjin is here to meet you. He's been waiting for about 20 minutes."

Jungkook's irritation faltered when he heard Jin's name. He stopped himself from snapping, his mind racing. Why was Mr.Jin here so suddenly in the morning? There wasn't any immediate reason for him to show up unannounced.

Just as his thoughts spiraled, Jimin shifted in his arms, lifting his gaze to Jungkook with a questioning look.

Jungkook didn't have time to respond, as the secretary's voice rang through the phone again.

"Sir, if you're not in the office, should I tell Mr. Kim to—"

Jungkook cut him off with a sharp tone, "No need. I'm already here. Tell Mr. Kim to wait for just a couple of minutes." He ended the call before the secretary could say another word.

He turned back to Jimin, who was looking at him, waiting for an explanation.

Jungkook could sense Jimin's unease at hearing Jin's name. His grip tightened on Jimin's hand, his voice soft and gentle. "Hey, are you okay?"

Jimin nodded, but Jungkook could see the flicker of something else in his eyes. He wasn't entirely convinced. Jungkook pulled him closer, his thumb gently brushing over Jimin's knuckles. "Jimin… are you still uncomfortable with Mr. Jin?" His voice was filled with concern. "I know you two never really talked things through, but maybe you should.... ."

Jimin remained silent, but it wasn't anger that he felt toward Jin—not really. It wasn't that. It was just that… they had never talked before. Not once. The only time they'd met had been years ago, on his graduation day, when his father had shown up with his mistress and her son. That son turned out to be Jin. Since then, they'd never seen each other , means they never exchanging a word. And after many years when they faced to eachother second time they never talked. How could they? Not when someone acted like a courteous asshole.

He remembered when they met after all those years. Jimin had expected something—an apology, a greeting, some kind of acknowledgment. But instead, Jin acted as if he didn't even know him. The egocentric, self-absorbed bastard.

Jungkook's broke his thoughts with his soft but insistent voice, "Jimin, .....Can you join me in meeting???, ....means...if you want".

But again Jimin didn't said anything,he just squeezed him tighter, feeling comforted by Jungkook's warmth. For the first time in a long while, he felt like maybe, just maybe, he could face whatever was to come.

In the office, Jin sat in his usual confident stance, radiating power with every inch of his being. His eyes briefly glanced at Jungkook's office, but before he could settle into his thoughts, the door swung open.

Jungkook walked in first, his strong presence filling the room, followed closely by Jimin, who almost seemed to be hiding behind him. Jimin's smaller frame naturally seemed to disappear against Jungkook's broad shoulders, his expression a little uneasy as if he wasn't entirely comfortable being in the same space as Jin.

Seokjin rose as soon as he saw Jungkook, offering a formal greeting. "Good morning, Mr. Jeon. I hope I'm not disturbing your schedule."

Jungkook gave a polite smile, trying to keep things light. "No, not at all, Mr. Kim. Feel free to come by anytime."

But then Jin's eyes shifted, almost hesitantly, to Jimin. He had intended to greet him as well, but the uncertainty lingered. He like all the time -wasn't sure how Jimin felt about him—whether he was welcome or not. But before he could let the thought settle, a soft voice cut through the tension.

"Good morning, Mr. Kim."

Jin froze for a moment, his mind racing. He couldn't believe his ears—Jimin, who had never talked to him , had greeted him first. His throat tightened, and he cleared it before responding, his voice carefully controlled.

"Good morning, Mr. Park."

Jimin merely nodded, his gaze not quite meeting Jin's as he stood a little further away, clearly not ready to engage in any real conversation with him. Jungkook, ever the calming presence, gently guided the situation forward.

"Please, take a seat," Jungkook offered, gesturing to the sofa.

Jin and Jungkook settled comfortably, each at ease in their usual seats, but Jimin seemed to distance himself by walking toward Jungkook's desk, pretending to focus on the files laid out in front of him as if that was his purpose for being there.

Jungkook, always the polite host, offered Jin some coffee, but he declined with a shake of his head.

After the usual formalities, Jungkook finally addressed the reason for the unexpected visit. "Mr. Kim, is there an issue with the projects? Something we should address?"

Jin seemed to hesitate for a moment, his calm façade momentarily slipping. His voice, usually smooth and confident, now carried an edge of nervousness that Jungkook had never heard before.

"No…no, it's not like that," Jin replied, his voice trailing off as he gathered his thoughts. It was the first time Jungkook had seen him like this—a stark contrast to the cool, clam composed Jin everyone else knew. "Actually, I came to ask you about something… something I mentioned before. You didn't reply, and I thought it would be better to come in person."

Jungkook's eyes widened as the realization hit him. He had forgotten to reply. Panic flickered in his chest as he immediately apologized.

"I'm so sorry, Mr. Kim. I honestly… I completely forgot about that." He genuinely flustered.

Jin, sensing Jungkook's embarrassment, quickly reassured him. "No, no, Mr. Jeon, it's alright. I understand you're busy. " His voice softened, but the weight of the situation still hung in the air.

Just as the tension seemed to settle, a sudden voice broke through the stillness, one that neither of them had expected.

"What did he forget to reply to?"

Both Jin and Jungkook's heads snapped toward the source of the interruption, their eyes widening in shock. They had both completely forgotten about the one person who was quietly in the room—Jimin.

The same person Jin had questions regarding. The same person Jin inquired about.

and for a moment, everything froze. Jimin's gaze was sharp as he stood by Jungkook's desk, his fingers lightly brushing the edge of a file as if he wasn't even concerned with what was being discussed. But the underlying curiosity in his tone told a different story.

Jin and Jungkook exchanged a brief, nervous look. They both felt the weight of his presence in a way they hadn't before.

Jin swallowed, his usually steady hands now betraying a hint of unease. Jungkook cleared his throat, trying to find a way to bridge the gap that had just widened between them all.

But what could he say? That Mr. Kim had called him one day, worried about Jimin, the same person Jimin was constantly trying to ignore?
