Ding!
[REWARD COMPLETE]
The goddess's voice disappeared with a flash, like it was never there.
Allysa heaved a sigh of relief.
'I've gotten the reward... then what?' she thought, more to herself than to anybody.
Ding!

'Wow! New skill gained,' she smirked. 'It's just at level one, but it can go up to level twenty.'
'Hmm... This skill will surely come on handy, those strange creatures the goddess mentioned, I think this is a way for me to recognise them.'
Just then, her phone rang. A quiet, smooth tone.
She picked it up from the bed and checked the caller ID.
"Goat Head," she read inwardly. Her lips curved into a nostalgic smile.
She remembered who was calling. A tear fell from her face. She used her hands to wipe it off.
She missed her so much.
Her best friend from two years ago—they were almost as close as twins. They did everything together. They even worked in the same office.
But...
She remembered what happened.
Another tear streamed down her cheek.
Before she died. Before she fell from the rooftop. Before she got the Dominion System.
She could remember Lisa's face that fateful morning, six months before she received the system.
She could still picture Lisa's smile as terminal breast cancer claimed her life.
She looked at the phone again—it had rung twice while she was reminiscing. Then, she picked up the call.
She placed the phone to her ear, slightly expecting and slightly dreading the sound of Lisa's voice.
"Hey Allysa, where the fuck are you?" the voice thundered. An angry soprano.
That voice, a voice she thought was gone with death, she could finally hear it again.
"Lisa," she stuttered , saying nothing else as tears streamed continuously down her cheeks. Her breath jagged.
"Allysa, why the fuck are you just calling my name like that? Give me a good reason," Lisa snapped.
"Good reason for what exactly?" Allysa wondered aloud. Her voice was slightly croaked from crying.
"Hey, I don't know why, but you're sounding real weird—and I don't care, except for the fact that if you don't get your ass over here right now, you're going to be fired."
"Fired?" Allysa echoed.
Lisa ignored her. "Bye," she said and ended the call.
Allysa smiled, her thoughts drifting back to the reward she just received.
'Well... that was a whole lot of information,' she thought.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the same slow but annoying ringtone.
She picked up the phone. It was Lisa again.
"Don't forget to get us lunch on your way. Bye," she said and abruptly ended the call.
"Wow." Allysa smiled. 'Typical Lisa,' she thought.
Then her mind wandered again—this time, back to Lisa. Replaying every moment of her death.
She clenched her fists. Steeled herself with resolve.
'I won't let death claim Lisa from me this time. I'll keep her alive—no matter what it takes.'
Something flashed through her head.
'Lisa said I'm gonna get fired if I don't come over now. I just got back to life. I need a job to keep me going until I find my feet.'
She rushed to the bathroom, and in a few minutes, she was done.
She stepped out, her divine body glistening in the sunlight.
She quickly went to get dressed. She opened her wardrobe.
A strange feeling hit her. She remembered burning these clothes sometime after she married Bruce.
She ignored the memory and picked a corporate outfit: a white gown with a black jacket.
She put on her jewelry, then walked to the mirror.
She smiled at her reflection—something she never did in her old life.
She was beautiful now—no, she was irresistible to any man. She knew it. And with that came a new sense of self-respect.
'Let them come. I'll make them love me. Then I'll conquer them all,' she thought.
She walked out the door, and with every step she took, she knew: she was ready to dominate.
'System window.' She thought the command, knowing by now that the system responded to her thoughts.
The system interface appeared before her, glowing with text.
It read "Stats" in one corner and "Shop" in another. The part labeled "Shop" was greyed out—meaning it couldn't be accessed yet, just like in the video games she used to play.
'Stats,' she commanded.
The screen dimmed, then lit up again.

"Goddess note? What the fuck! I need to get her influence off me soon. I have to get stronger."
"Well, fuck the goddess," she continued. "I'm already on my path to Dominion, so there's nothing you can do to stop me."
She stepped out and inhaled the cool air.
'It's good to be alive,' she thought.
Soon enough, a cab stopped in front of her.
The glass rolled down.
"Hey, beautiful," the cabman said. "Where are you heading to?"
"Me?" She flung her hair to the side. "I'm going to work. Can you give me a ride?"
"Sure—so long as you've got money," he winked.
"Rodney Corporation, Industrial Avenue," she replied confidently, recalling the address, then got into the car.
"Let's move."
