Emmiel
There was no way those test result were going to come out clean. My pregnancy was already proof that I wasn't what I'd thought myself to be.
The fact that I'd been lied to my entire life began to dawn on me.
"Lopen was right" I muttered, alone in my room. "I should have known that there was a reason behind me never getting chosen every bonding ceremony"
All I could think of was; Why me? Why did it have to be me of all the omegas in the facility?
Moreover, Lopen had been gone for a while now. What could possibly be the result of my blood test?
"I'm scared" I muttered, wrapping my arms around my body. My phone ringing tone takes me offguard.
Reaching out towards it, it was an unknown number. I contemplated picking up but for all I know it could be alpha Asai. "Hello?"
"Emmiel is that you?"
I quirked my brow, confused. This voice belonged to Kent, the head of the omega facility. "Kent? How are you cal—"
"Look, Emmiel. I know you probably have a lot of questions right now but you aren't safe in the Lopen's mansion" Kent says. "You need to come back to the facility"
I sneered. "If it were that easy, I wouldn't still be here"
"I'll help you"
A short laugh escaped through my throat. "What makes you think I'll trust you ever again, Kent? You lied to me all my life!"
"It was to protect you!"
"Bullshit, Kent!"
"You've been stuck in the faculty for 17 years, Emmiel" Kent clarifies. "No one wanted you because you were a dominant omega. When Lopen came along, I thought a little lie wouldn't hurt. I did this for you"
Kent's reason might be justified to him but because of what he'd done, I'd met Lopen and lived the worst few weeks of my entire life.
"I don't know if I should thank you, Kent"
"Then, don't. Let me just help protect you. Come back to the omega facility, Emmiel. What do you say?"
"But Lopen—"
"Don't think about Lopen. Think about what you want"
In soft whispers, I admit. "I want to leave this place, Kent"
"Alright. I'll come up with an escape plan within the week and get back to you" Kent concludes. "Until then, stay safe in there and make sure Lopen doesn't catche on that we talked, okay?"
"Whatever"
As soon as the line goes dead, I delete the unknown number as I throw my phone across the bed, hugging my legs.
The door to my bedroom is thrown wide open with a loud bang. Lopen approaches me on the bed, throwing a piece of paper against my face.
"We get married tomorrow" Lopen says through gritted teeth.
I stilled, "T-Tommorrow, but—"
"But nothing. Now that you are pregnant we'd better tie the knot faster, don't you think?" Lopen refrains from me. "Nothing would change in our relationship"
"You have to be smarter when defending yourself against the enemy" He continued. "Unless you are ready to loose your child, that is"
The thought of loosing my baby scared me. "I don't want that"
"Good. Then get up to your feet and let's go train"
I do so without any hesitation. What had happened to Lopen during the few hours he was gone? How had he gone from promising to make my life hell to helping me practice?
Don't get me wrong, training was way better than any form of mistreatment I'd expected to be meted out to me.
Trudging silently behind Lopen, he leads me to a basement underground that I never knew we had. The basement housed varieties of numerous weapons: Guns of differnt shapes and sizes, knives, blades, swords, bombs etc.
It was as if Lopen had spent years trying to gather this whole storage room of weapons.
So this is what it means to be the most ruthless and vile alpha. I thought with fear crawling down my spine.
The more I got to know about the person Lopen was, the more I didn't want to get closer to him but I had no choice.
Especially now that I was with his child.
"Pick up a gun from the rack and assemble it" Lopen orders. I moved, doing as he'd ordered but I couldn't get the parts right.
Annoyed, Lopen whisks the gun away from my hands as he teaches me how to assemble a gun and shoot but I missed all the targets..
"You're hopeless" Lopen spewed out. "You need to stop being afraid of the gun. You aren't learning how to shoot to protect yourself but our baby inside you so pull the trigger like you meant it, Emmiel"
Lopen's words resonated with me. This was for my baby —not for me— I needed to be able to hit the target by all means.
Concentrating on the target board, I tightened my hold on the gun and pulled the trigger. The bullet hit the middle.
A slow smrik splayed across Lopen's lips. "Bullseye. You see, you can do it"
"You might be wondering why I'm doing all these" Lopen draws out. "It's simple; just as I'd told you today, we'll be getting married tomorrow. I announced this news —as well as the coming of my new heir— to the public and fair enough, the responses were not happy"
I froze. What?
He continued. "There's is a one in a hundred chances of you getting attacked tomorrow during our wedding or after. Whichever it is, I'm not going to be there to protect you because I don't give a fuck"
"So I'm teaching you all you need to protect yourself in my absence" He concludes. "Any questions?"
Yes. Alot. You spent millions on me and what? Now, you don't give a fuck about me? Don't make me laugh.
"No questions, Alpha Lopen"
"Good. Now go on and practise your shooting one last time"
Imagining the target board was Alpha Lopen, I focused my attention on the heart and pulled the trigger. Bullseye. It was a perfect hit.
One day, I was going to use this skill against alpha Lopen. I swear it.
