Two days after receiving the letter from the Null Unit.
Jin was polishing his sword and looking at the fifty soldiers he had called upon to fight the assassin from the Null Unit which he knew was Louisa, as she had been spotted in the Manstoul city for several days now.
Normally, he wouldn't have gathered so many soldiers to fight someone. There were two reasons for gathering so many soldiers, first the assassin was from the Null Unit and second was that he still remembered that worst and the best day of his life when he faced a walking graveyard, a man who slaughtered people like insects, the Demise, Jordan Deathwalker.
He knew how fearsome a member of the Null Unit can be. As for there being more than one assassins, he wasn't worried about that fact as he knew that the assassin would come alone. The reason was that he knew that he wasn't so strong that the Null Unit would send two assassins to deal with him.
Jin was afraid to face the assassin, but he also saw this as an opportunity to grow higher in ranks. If he captured or killed an assassin from the Null Unit, the king would definitely reward him.
He had a feeling of fear and excitement in his heart at the same time.
He finished polishing his sword and put it on the the table. He saw a soldier approach him. The soldier bowed to Jin and said," Sir, we have recieved information that a Morphian spider had been seen recently in the Pickvoid region.
Morphian spider was an enormous giant spider. He was as big as a human being and had an habit of staying at a place for a very long time. He was a man eating beast and was impossible to deal with by any ordinary human. But for an awakened dominator like Jin, dealing with such beast was not that hard.
Just as Jin heard the name of Morphian spider, his eyes started shining. He saw this as an opportunity to earn a lot of money.
"We still have three hours untill it is seven and Pickvoid is just thity minutes away from Bendict harbour if we travel by a horse. I will go and deal with that spider. If we don't deal with it now, we might loose some lives in the future." Jin said, trying to show no emotions on his face.
"Should I come with you?" The soldier asked.
"No, there is no need for you to come. I can handle such insects alone. Just tell everyone that I have ordered them to take their positions in the Bendict harbour without me. I will be there before the clock hits seven."
"As you wish, sir. I will have your horse prepared in no time." Jin signaled the soldier to leave and continued preparing for the fight. He took a belt bag, put something inside and wore it.
...
Dark clouds covered the entire sky like a blanket, presenting an errie picture of the sky. Amidst such darkness, was a horse tearing the wind and running through a forest. And a man riding it. That man was none other than Jin Scottman.
Jin slowed down his horse a little as he was about to reach Pickvoid. Pickvoid was a region near the periphery of the only forest of Manstoul city. It was a place surrounded by trees in it's circular periphery but had no trees inside it, making it a bit unique.
Jin entered Pickvoid region and got off the horse. He observed the area around him and tried to find traces of the Morphian spider. But to his disappointment, he didn't find any. He looked all around that area but could not find the Morphian spider.
Could it be that the spider was here for a long time and finally left? Jin was confused as he could not find any traces of the Morphian spider.
Jin was about to go into the jungle to look for the spider when he turned around and found a dagger coming his way. He quickly dodged the dagger and looked at the direction where it came from.
He found a figure behind the woods, a figure wearing a black coloured cloak. The figure started moving towards Jin. As the figure came closer, it's face became clearer. It was a beautiful girl with blonde hair. That figure was Louisa.
"Louisa....! What are you doing here? Didn't you tell me to come to the Bendict harbour in the letter?" Jin asked in confusion.
"Yes, I did. But I didn't feel like fighting those damn soldiers of yours."
Jin was out of words. He didn't utter a single word for sometime. After a few seconds, he finally spoke up," Who told you that I was here? Wait... perhaps it was a trap all along?"
"Who knows, it doesn't even matter anymore. The only thing that matters is that you are going to die here today." Just as Louisa finished her sentence, she held another dagger in her right hand and attacked Jin. She tried to slash Jin's throat.
Jin dodged her attack and jumped backwards." You can't beat me Louisa. I know your route is not good for fighting. It only lets you observe. You can't beat me with that!"
Louisa's route was the Observer route. This route had its own domain and as the name suggested it allowed her to observe everything around her far better than any human or any kind of organism. But it did not give her any fight related powers.
"Observing is one of the important aspects of a battle." Louisa said. Just as she finished her sentence, something started happening in space, a little above Pickvoid.
The winds started to blow faster and a collosal eyes appeared out of nowhere, tearing the space itself. The vertical eye was purple in colour. It was looking at everything.
"You think you can scare me with such little tricks. This little tricks of yours won't work on me." Jin pulled his sword from his scabbard and ran forward towards Louisa.
He started to swing his sword and tried to cut Louisa. Louisa dodged every attack of his sword as if she knew where he was going to attack.
Jin stopped swinging his sword and stood still for a while. Black mist started coming out from his body and covered the entire battlefield.
Nothing could be seen there except for the darkness. Only Jin could see through this black mist.
He navigated Louisa and moved towards her slowly, without making any sound. When he was behind her, he held his sword horizontal to his head and swang it towards her with force.
Louisa bent her upper body and turned behind. She dodged this attack of his too.
She started moving towards him holding her dagger, ready to cut Jin into two pieces. It was like she could see through this black mist too.
Can she see through my black mist? Is my power not working on her? Jin looked above him and saw the collosal eye staring right at the battle field. Is this eye allowing her to see in this dark mist? If that is the case then using this mist will only be a waste of my spirit force.
The mist soon started to clear and everything came into view again. Jin looked at Louisa and was disappointed as he could not land a single hit on her. But the same could be said for Louisa.
He lifted his sword and pointed it towards Louisa who was a few metres away from him. Two little dark coloured circular spheres appeared above his shoulders.
"Go!" The two spheres left his shoulders and moved towards Louisa with great velocity. Louisa rolled to her left side on the ground and dodged the spheres with even a greater velocity.
The two spheres hit the ground, swallowed a few portion of the ground and disappeared. They left half spherical marks on the ground as if the ground was never there to begin with.
Sh*t I can't beat her like this. Even though her route doesn't give her any fighting abilities, she is still very skilled. She has trained her body in a way far better than me. Now there is only one thing I can do.
Jin's shadow which was hardly visible due to the dark clouds started to move towards Louisa.
I hope she is unable to see these shadows. Once my shadow touches her's, she won't be able to move. And then I wil do whatever I want with her. Jin was having such thoughts and started smiling before his plan even worked.
Jin's shadow almost reached Louisa's. Just as his shadow was about to touch her's, she started running towards Jin.
"Do you seriously think I am unable to see this. There is nothing here that I cannot see. You cannot hide a single thing from me in this battlefield." Louisa said as she kept moving towards Jin.
When she finally reached Jin, she started attacking him. They exchanged a few blows with eachother. But with each passing second, Louisa was becoming more and more difficult for Jin to deal with.
He could not keep up with her anymore. Louisa finally landed a blow on him and it was a heavy one. She hit his right wrist. Blood was falling from his wrist like water falls from a waterfall.
Soon, his hands were covered in blood. He jumped backwards and got away from her. "I can't waste my time on you anymore. I have to make you know your place."
After finishing his sentence, he held his belt bag and opened it. He put his hand inside the bag and took out a skull from it.
The skull looked like it was made from iron. He held the skull with his left hand and fed the blood coming out from his right wrist to the skull.
The skull's eyes started glowing in red colour. It started to levitate on its own and left his hand. The skull grew bigger and bigger in size. It became bigger than Jin.
Jin started laughing loudly. " Hahaha hahaha haha! Kill her, kill her. Make her regret that she ever crossed paths with me." Jin said to the skull.
"Killing her is asking too much. With your blood. I can only make her lose consciousness." The skull said in a majestic voice.
"Do it! Do it quickly!"
Louisa did not know what was going on. She was wondering what was happening when she suddenly felt a feeling of dizziness. She was feeling sleepy. She lost her consciousness and fell to the ground.
Jin went towards her checked if she was really unconscious or not. When her unconsciousness was confirmed, he started laughing again.
The skull had already gone to its original size and was lying on the ground. He picked up the skull and put it inside his belt bag again.
"I think I need to advance more quickly. Even a Dominator from the observer route was able to beat me. If I didn't have this skull, then I would have died surely." Jin torn a small piece of cloth from Louisa's cloak and stopped his wrist from bleeding by covering it with that small piece of cloth. Then he drew his sword and placed it near Louisa's head.
Jin was ready to kill Louisa any moment now but he suddenly felt something terrifying that sent a chill down his spine.
He looked behind and saw figure hiding in the darkness besides the trees."Wow! You managed to beat her. I thought you were still a coward like before. But I think people do change."
Jin's mind recognised this voice but his heart refused to recognise it. He didn't want to recognise it. "Who are you? Are you here to help me or help her?"
Completely ignoring Jin's questions, the figure surrounded by the darkness said," I left you alive because I wanted you to tell people how dangerous I was, but instead you told everyone that you were the only survivor like you were the one who faced me made me run away. Well, that is a good way to get popular."
With each sentence of this unknown figure, Jin's heart started beating louder and louder. His biggest fear was about to come true.
The dark figure slowly moved it's legs and started walking towards Jin. His appearance gradually came into view.
Emerging from the darkness was a man or rather a monster wearing a top hat, a black waist coat and a long coat with black pants.
As his face came into view, Jin knew that this day was going to be his last day as the person in front of him was his biggest nightmare, the Demise, Jordan Deathwalker.
