The air was thick with moonlight and questions when Kael burst through the door.
Aria sat up quickly, startled by the suddenness of his arrival. Her heartbeat pounded in her ears as she stared at him, his chest rising and falling fast, his green eyes stormy with something dark and dangerous.
"Kael? What…?"
But before she could finish the question, he was on her.
His weight pressed her down into the bed, one hand pinning her wrists above her head. He was not hurting her, but the sheer intensity in his eyes made her breath hitch.
"Enough pretending, Aria," he growled. "You feel it, too. I know you do."
She struggled beneath him, her silver-blue eyes wide. "Kael, stop. This is not you."
But he did not stop.
His control, always so strong, was slipping.
She saw it in the way his body trembled above hers, in the way his jaw clenched, in the way his eyes flashed with a golden tint. His wolf was fighting for dominance. For her.
He lowered his face to her neck, inhaling deeply.
