Chapter 14 - Chapter7:Collision Course

Mia's POV

I shouldn't have been driving.

My head was still reeling from what Ryan said at the hospital. Walk away while you still can. The words rang in my ears like a warning bell I couldn't silence. But I wasn't just shaken—I was furious.

How dare he speak to me like that?

The Saint family was clearly hiding something, and now I was convinced it ran deeper than just medical anomalies. And Eric… sweet, brave Eric didn't deserve to be caught in whatever dark secret they were concealing.

A horn blared.

I blinked and jerked the wheel too late.

CRACK!

My small sedan slammed into the rear of a low, sleek black car—so polished it looked like a mirror on wheels. The emblem on the back glinted under the afternoon sun like a curse:

The Obsidian Seraph.

One-of-a-kind. Limited edition. A beast of a car.

My heart dropped to my stomach.

"Oh no. Oh no no no…"

The driver's door opened with a hiss.

And out stepped Ryan Saint.

Perfect. Of course.

His tailored black coat fluttered in the breeze, and his silver eyes burned into me like laser beams. He looked like a god carved from marble—and he looked absolutely livid.

Ryan's POV

Today was already hell.

Board meetings. A canceled surgery. And Lia's cryptic call telling me Eric had another episode. Now this?

I stalked toward the crumpled mess of my car. The Obsidian Seraph—my prized possession—was scuffed, dented, and kissed by a sedan that had no business being anywhere near it.

And the driver?

Of course it was Mia Walls.

"What the hell were you doing?" I snapped, eyes narrowing. "Checking your makeup in the rearview or planning your next medical conspiracy?"

She looked dazed. Genuinely shaken. "I—I didn't see… I was distracted."

I laughed darkly. "Clearly."

I circled the damage and exhaled harshly. The repairs would cost more than her car's worth. She couldn't afford this—not in this lifetime.

And yet, looking at her—flushed cheeks, wide eyes, hands trembling on the wheel—I didn't feel victorious.

I felt interested.

Dangerously so.

Mia's POV

He didn't yell.

That was the scary part.

He just looked at me with this cold, dangerous calm that made my spine stiffen. And then… he smirked. A slow, cruel kind of smirk.

"You'll be hearing from my office," he said simply. "Or better yet—maybe we should make this easier."

I frowned. "Easier?"

He didn't answer. Just slid back into the luxury beast and pulled away, leaving a trail of smoke and tension in his wake.

I had a sinking feeling this wasn't the end.

No. It was just the beginning.
