I wanna be a kid again
When my only responsibilities were to pick up my toys,
Put them away and clean my room
When life wasn't so complicated
School was fun, free time was my time,
And there was no such things as APs
I wanna be a kid again
When my dreams soared freely through the sky
With no fears of gravity, walls, or chains to stop my endless possibilities
When the chains of reality, society, and self-doubts
Did not apply to the little kid with big eyes,
A bigger smile, and a mind brimming with creativity
I wanna be a kid again
When I could sing each verse of every disney song
Without caring how bad my voice sounded
When I only cried due to a scabbed knee
And not because of the atrocities of mankind,
without worrying over my safety in a classroom,
Not thinking that I am going to die or get shot,
I wanna be a kid again
When I never paid attention to the news
Because it was a show for adults and not kids, unlike Looney Tunes
When ignorance was bliss and not a fools mistake
Not knowing something wasn't a bad thing
And no one thought you were dumb for it
I wanna be a kid again
When life was fun, easy, and happy
Now things keep constantly changing
When did life stop being filled with miracles, being more negative than positive
When did Death decide it would be better for my dad to be by him and not me
When was my candle of light and innocence blown out
I wanna be a kid again.
