Mia's voice filled the chamber. "Most races are granted a guardian to shield their people, their lands, and their lineage. For elves, it's the World Tree. We are its protectors, but no one could ever defeat it—so long as the World Tree stands, the elves will endure in Fayralia."
So basically, the World Tree's the elves' power source—they'll never die as long as it's standing.
Jett tilted his head. "Okay, say the elves actually went extinct—how would new ones come about?"
"By the will of the World Tree itself, Master Jett," Mia replied, her pride swelling.
Jett nodded and held up a hand. He wasn't in the mood for more elven lore—he wanted to test the new feature and see his maids' rewards.
"Alright, let's check out your gifts," he said. "Step into the summoning circle, Mia."
"As you command, Master Jett." Mia bowed deeply and moved into the glowing ring.
