Chapter 6 - Unveiling the Lost One

The kids ignore the voice and go to the hospital wing, where they explain the situation, but leave the parts where they were roaming in the school at midnight. During lunch, they received a letter which asked them to go to the headmistress's office after lunch.

"Now what did we do?" groaned James, "Isn't it enough that I have my NEWETS's coming up?"

"Well, you are not the only one. I have my OWLs, the teachers are killing me." Rose groaned in reply.

"If you lot have finished bickering, let's go find out why we were called," Lily said, fed up with them.

The heavy wooden door to Professor McGonagall's office creaked open, and Lily, Rose, and James stepped inside, their hearts pounding. The silver chain gleamed faintly against Lily's neck, catching the dim light.

McGonagall's sharp eyes immediately caught sight of it.

"May I inquire about the chain you are wearing, Miss Potter?"

"It, um..." Lily didn't know how to reply.

"I believe it's best if I examine this myself. Do be so kind as to hand it over." McGonagall replied before taking the chain from Lily's hands. Lily hesitated, but in the end gave the chain.

As soon as she took the chain, there was a knock on the door, and Professor McGonagall disappeared, asking them to wait. Immediately, Albus, who was in the corner, came near them,

"Do tell me about that chain, will you?" He asked

"We will tell you later, Al, but since we are here, why don't we do some digging first?" James suggested.

"Yes, we should, here, the records should be here," Rose said, bending over to the bottom of a drawer quickly. "The records of every magical child who has yet to attend Hogwarts will be here, I heard Mum informing Dad last year."

They were searching the records and found a file labeled Miverva Poppy Potter.

"Minerva Poppy Potter, born on 6th January 2001....." James started reading.

Before they could examine further, the door burst open. McGonagall stood in the frame, her eyes blazing with authority.

"What do you think you're doing, snooping through restricted records?" she demanded.

"We were just trying to find out about our sister," James said sternly, the file still clutched in his hands.

"Haven't I already made it clear that you are prohibited from looking into anything regarding this topic?" she said angrily, clutching the chain in her hands.

"She is our sister, why do you keep us away from the past?" Rose asked Camliy

"Because this isn't your past to uncover," McGonagall replied with watery eyes, "You are playing with forces that can unravel everything..... including ourselves." She continued trying to get a grip on herself.

Their protest was cut short by a sudden whooshing sound—the unmistakable crackle of the Floo Network. Hermione appeared in a swirl of green flames, her expression as serious as McGonagall's.

"What is going on here? Why have you called me Professor?" Hermione asked, sensing the tension in the room. "What exactly have you gotten yourselves into this time?"

McGonagall explained the whole scene that happened and asked about how they got the locket.

"Last night, I heard a voice calling my name, and I woke up. I thought it was nothing, so I decided to go back to sleep. Then suddenly I heard it again, this time it said James.. you shouldn't have." James said

"I woke up with a start, put my coat on, and went to Hugo to inform him and ask if he could hear the voice, but when I reached his room, he was not there. I checked the other rooms and the common room he was nowhere to be found. Then I went and knocked on the girls' dormitory and asked Dora Robins to call Rose and Lily." He continued

"After we came, we went to look for Hugo, then the voice came again, this time we all heard it. We followed it and we went to a corridor we had never seen before. Suddenly, Hugo came from behind us and said Green eyes, red hair, trapped in time, she's still here. We were going back then, on the wall we saw in silver, on it was written the lost one remembers." Rose whispered.

"We came back to the common room and I found this chain clutched in my hands and a picture of mum, dad, and a girl in their arms, and well... you know the rest," Lily concluded.

"There's more to this than you realize," Hermione said, her voice low but urgent. "We need to talk—now." She turned to McGonagall and stopped. "This chain... It's tied to something far darker than you understand."
