Chapter 17 - angry

In a large conference hall, with many cameras, journalists, and media people to cover an important event in recent times – the accusation of a famous author of stealing his latest novel using artificial intelligence. All parties have now arrived. The foreign delegation entered with a translator, and Mokhtar entered with his translator, his eyes full of anger.

They all sat. The delegation faced Mokhtar, and the discussion began.

---

A foreign speaker from the audience:

"I accuse your company of stealing my story using the AI ChatGPT."

One of the attendees:

"Your words are crazy. It doesn't even save the conversations."

The speaker:

"Not convincing. You control it. I want my right from you. You stole all my effort."

Another attendee:

"Your words show your ignorance. We won't cooperate even to clarify things."

A call came to the speaker.

The speaker:

"I'll go out for a minute."

Speaker (on phone):

"What?"

Caller:

"Congratulations, it's done."

Speaker:

"Complete our deal and release him."

Caller:

"I'll think about it, despite the trouble he caused."

He hung up and returned to the meeting.

The speaker:

"Okay, I will tell you the story from the beginning so we can reach a solution."

After explaining everything that happened with Mokhtar,

The foreigner opened his laptop and displayed its contents on a big screen:

> "This is a model of how ChatGPT works:

ChatGPT uses artificial intelligence. It was trained on millions of texts available on the internet to learn how to understand language and respond like a human. It has no awareness or intention, and it doesn't copy content from people. It only predicts the appropriate words based on context. It doesn't steal ideas, but some of the information it gives might be inspired by general human content. The user is always responsible for how it's used.

This means it might have learned from you, but it never steals. And if you accuse us, the program runs automatically without showing the information to us. So it's impossible we stole from you."

Mokhtar:

"That's not convincing. What about the delivery man who said foreigners gave him the novel?"

Foreigner:

"We truly know nothing about him."

Mokhtar:

"I'm going insane! All I want is to know who stole my novel. Nothing else. I've had enough!"

He got angry and shouted,

"You are the thieves! No one else!"

Foreigner:

"Clearly, we won't reach an agreement. Let's set a date to go to an international court and present the evidence. You have none. A screenshot from the program is not solid proof. Prepare better evidence and let's go to court next week."

Mokhtar looked at him with great anger. He grabbed a glass of water in front of him and threw it at him.

Mokhtar:

"To hell with you! You're just a bunch of criminals hiding behind a silly program!"

He tried to hit them, but the police intervened and held Mokhtar with force.

---

Someone:

"Calm down, Mokhtar. You ruined our image in front of everyone."

Mokhtar, full of sadness:

"It was the most important thing to me, and it was taken. I feel unsafe... I don't know why."

---

A call came to Mokhtar.

Mokhtar:

"Release him, Khaled."

Khaled:

"You were amazing in front of the cameras, like a raging bull, man. But okay, he'll be released. I'll send you the address to meet him."

---

Mokhtar:

"I'm sorry, my son, for what I did."
