The town wasn't very big, they hadn't walked more than two hours when they arrived at the gate of Bailin City. The cold was more bearable inside the city. The market was full of people, there were oil lanterns in all the streets, the people in the surroundings offered all kinds of things, whether it was fabrics, brooches, even fragrances. It was a big city and it wasn't very late at night. The children had never been to the city before and were very excited. Jing Shao was afraid that they would get lost. "We'll look for an inn," he said seriously as he searched the surroundings for an inn. The more they walked, the more people they saw. Mei An looked everywhere and she was smiling. Mei Lin, on the other hand, was very stressed and anxious, she wasn't used to it and frowned.
It seemed like a festival was underway. The food and game stalls on the tall buildings were packed with people. The women from the brothels greeted the people below upon seeing Jing Shao. More than one blushed. "Daoist Lord, do you want to come play?" one said flirtatiously. "We'll be polite, don't be shy," another said, covering her face with an ornate fan. Jing Shao instantly blushed. He turned his head in embarrassment and looked away. His two disciples were staring at him. "Shizun, why are you so red again? Are you feeling unwell?" Mei An said, confused. Mei Lin was also confused, but unlike her brother, she had heard the women in the building talking; she didn't know what "go play" meant, but it was probably up to no good. Seeing his embarrassed expression, she turned her head and said, "Shameless!"
Jing Shao quickly waved his hands and buried his face in them, dying of embarrassment. "It's not what you think," he said with a low groan. Mei An shrugged and said nothing. Mei Lin didn't even look at her cheeky Shizun. They continued walking. Jing Shao let them look at whatever they wanted. Mei Lin walked over to a brooch stall. They looked very pretty. There was an orchid with a blue flower embroidered on it. It wasn't very expensive, but she would never ask Jing Shao for anything. But Jing Shao, who had been watching her, asked, "Do you like it?" Mei Lin was a little surprised by the question, but nodded gently. The saleswoman was an older lady. She had wrinkled skin, but also plenty of energy. When she saw Mei Lin, she was quite impressed. "Aiya, what a pretty young woman and what a handsome gentleman. They're not from around here, are they?" The saleswoman wasn't the only one who thought that. In fact, many people were looking in the direction of Mei Lin and Jing Shao.
Jing Shao said with a charming smile, "We are not from around here. Madam, could you please sell me that orchid?" The lady blushed and covered her face slightly with her sleeve, obviously delighted. Mei Lin's hair was slightly loose. When the lady handed the orchid to Jing Shao, he signaled to Mei Lin to pick up her hair. Mei Lin understood immediately. She left two strands of hair on her forehead and made a small bun, revealing the nape of her neck as white as snow. When Jing Shao put the orchid on her, she looked much more adorable. Jing Shao couldn't help but smile. Mei An was at a game stand so she didn't see her sister. "What a beautiful girl!" said a person in the distance. "Yes, yes, I know" said another. Many whispers appeared around them. Jing Shao thought to himself. "Wow.. Mei Lin can really make a big fuss." This thought made him feel amused so he smiled and Mei Lin noticed the smile and blushed slightly, which made the people make more of a scandal. so he went to look for his brother
Mei An when she saw it she knew there was something different about it she couldn't figure out what it was after a brief observation she realized it was that orchid and said "Oh... Jie Jie you look very pretty" she said with a sincere smile Mei Lin looked at him her gaze softened a little "Mm, you look good too" she said turning around they found an inn nearby and asked for two rooms Jing Shao asked for a small one he didn't need a big one and let the children take the one with more space "Come in and wait for me to call you for dinner" The children nodded and went to their rooms
