Chapter 15 - A Tap-Dancing Rabbit?

"Anyway, The obstacle course that we are going to be running next should be pretty easy for you to finish right?" Tsukiyo said, totally blowing over how Miku acted just a second ago. "I mean with the flexibility that you possess, as well as your speed, it shouldn't be too hard for you."

"Yeah, it will be pretty easy for me." Miku said as she was slowly regaining energy she sat down with her arms behind her propping her up. "It would appear to be stranger if I were unable to properly complete it"

"That's true." Tsukiyo nodded, "even some of the more foolish people would realize that something is up if you fail to perform well on this, as it is more aligned to your skillset as a practitioner of the Hyuuga's Gentle Fist."

"Even so, this is SOOO boring. I wish these tests could just be over with, so that I can leave already." Miku started to complain, "I mean even you will be able to perform pretty well on the course if you use your chakra strings to propel yourself and then use them for directional control."

Tsukiyo was going to point out the fact that 'Hinata' was speaking differently than usual, but then she realized that she had a point, sure she has used her chakra strings as a way to lower herself from the tree earlier, however she never thought to directly apply that as a for of movement technique.

And while she may not be proficient enough to actually use it in a high intensity situation, this obstacle course will be easy enough to complete while practicing this new technique as it was developed for academy graduates to pass. If it turns out that she ended up getting a pretty low score, she can always try to explain it as her practicing a new technique in a scenario where she would want to push herself. 'Pfft, as if I would actually care about the score. If it's lower that's even better.' Tsukiyo thought to herself.

"That is actually a really good suggestion, I can't believe I hadn't thought of it before now." Tsukiyo acknowledged, "I'm surprised that you managed to think of a use for it that easily. Do you have any more suggestions?"

"Well, it's easy to come up with suggestions like this when you actually pay attention enough." Miku said while waving her hand and then casually made a suggestion, "You could always try to manipulate the properties of your chakra strings."

"Oh. How so?" Tsukiyo raised an eyebrow as she asked.

"Well one way you could do it would be to increase or decrease their density at a moments notice, if an enemy sees you at one point using the strings to attack and it barely inflicts any damage, they are more likely to lower their guard towards the next attack, at which point mid swing you could massively increase the density of the chakra string, or even better, have it vibrate quickly to have it slice through an object easier." Miku said, then casually grabbed a glass of chocolate milk and took a drink.

'Where did that even come from?' Both Hinata and Tsukiyo thought. Hinata knew Miku could create objects, but that is only within their mindscape, and Tsukiyo didn't notice Miku activate any storage seals to pull it out.

Miku looked at Tsukiyo and could read the doubt on her face, mostly because it was the same as Hinata's in her mind, "I always have some Choccy milk on hand, just like you always carry some suckers with you."

'But that doesn't explain where you took it out from!' Tsukiyo thought in frustration, feeling a strange urge to hit 'Hinata' on the back of the head, but ultimately just lowered her slightly raised hand.

'YOU SHOULD HAVE HIT HER!' Hinata practically yelled in frustration, wishing she could have communicated with Tsukiyo for just a moment, however she didn't do it because she didn't want to give any more information than Miku already has, just by being herself.

Miku saw the way their expressions changed to frustration and she chuckled to herself, finding the way they react to such simple things as funny. However she quickly sensed the danger and knew that if she didn't say anything, she would probably be hit again.

So she simply lowered her voice so that anyone that might be paying attention in their direction won't be able to hear and gestured to a ring on her pinky finger, one that Hinata didn't even realize was there. "I simply used this ring that I made, I engraved the inside of the ring with storage seals, as well as intent seals, so that only 'I' could open it, to anyone else trying to open it, it would just appear to be a normal ring."

Tsukiyo was completely shocked at this fact, sure there might have been similar items made in the past, but ever since the people of Uzushiogakure were wiped out, even if the five hidden villages gained some of their Fuinjutsu notebooks, items like these became a rarity, so rare in fact, that most clans would only keep a few of them in their possession, and add to that the fact that 'Hinata' just said that she made it? Well it wouldn't be strange for her to be locked in a room and forced to make these nonstop if found out, whether it be the fact that only certain people could open it, as well as the fact that it appears to be able to keep food fresh. Tsukiyo was just shocked that Miku even shared something this sensitive with her.

"Why would you even tell me about this?" Tsukiyo actually grabbed Miku's ear and twisted it, trying to vent her frustration. "Do you even know how much trouble you can get yourself into if I were to leak this. We aren't even close enough yet for you to give me this kind of knowledge. Heck you don't even know my favorite color!"

"Ow ow oww, let me go. It hurts." Miku said with a look of pain on her face, she doesn't know why, but even though she could take a bullet and come out perfectly fine, in situations like these, she would always feel immense pain. '{̷C̷̷̷U̷̷̷R̷̷̷S̷̷̷E̷̷̷ ̷̷̷Y̷̷̷O̷̷̷U̷̷̷ ̷̷̷A̷̷̷U̷̷̷T̷̷̷H̷̷̷O̷̷̷R̷̷̷!̷ ̷I̷ ̷H̷O̷P̷E̷ ̷Y̷O̷U̷ ̷S̷T̷E̷P̷ ̷O̷N̷ ̷A̷ ̷L̷E̷G̷O̷}̷'[1]

Seeing that Miku did seem to feel the pain that she was trying to get across, Tsukiyo did loosen up slightly, "Besides, your favorite color is pink." Miku spat out.

At this point Tsukiyo blushed slightly and twisted Miku's ear again causing her to squirm in pain, "HOW DO YOU EVEN KNOW THAT!?" She yelled softly, mostly in embarrassment. She was sure that she hadn't shown anything throughout their academy time that would show that. She considered it a shame that a Shinobi, a person made for battle, would like such a 'girly' color.

Hearing her question Miku puffed up with pride, and ignoring the pain coming from her ear, and Hinata controlling her right hand to subtly twist the skin on her waist, she said proudly, "It is simple… INSTINCT. I also like the color pink, though not as much as purple, so I can easily see that you like it too."

Tsukiyo reached the point where she wasn't even frustrated anymore, just annoyed, "That doesn't even make any sense at all." She then let go of Miku's ear. At this point, she would have to be a complete idiot to NOT realize that something was different with Hinata, because Hinata would never give her such feelings of frustration and annoyance that she wanted to pull out her hair, but she cares too much about her hair to actually damage it like that.

Deciding to poke back at Miku, Tsukiyo decided to point out her observation, "So what exactly is wrong with you? For you to be acting so differently?"

Miku quickly broke out in a sweat as she realized that she was way out of character, luckily the only one paying attention to her, and thus noticing the weirdness is Tsukiyo. So Miku did the only thing that she could possibly do in that situation, she drank all her chocolate milk, stored the glass bottle back inside her ring and said to Tsukiyo, "HEY LOOK OVER THERE! THERE'S A TAP DANCING RABBIT!"

She ran away.

Tsukiyo, shocked by the absurdity of the statement, looked at where Miku was pointing and actually saw a small rabbit with a top hat and cane doing a tap dance routine, she was completely dumbfounded by the sight.

When she looked back to Hinata, she realized that she was back to how she normally acted, fidgeting slightly in place, not looking for too long in one direction, she even had a blush on her cheeks from what appeared to be second-hand embarrassment, she realized that she had been duped. "But was I really duped? I mean there was a tap dancing rabbit over there, for some reason."

"S-so how d-do you think I'm d-different than usual." Hinata stuttered from wanting to hide in a hole due to Miku's antics, she was mentally yelling at Miku, who was rolling in laughter on the floor after passing off the problem to her.

Tsukiyo saw that she was acting like her usual self again, and decided that she was going to shelf the issue for the moment, but she knew that when the right moment arose, she would get her answers. She noticed how 'Hinata' didn't even answer her question of why she would reveal that kind of information to her.

Sure, she isn't going to tell anyone about it, I mean why would she, everyone is entitled to their own secrets, and she could certainly care less about the benefit it could bring to the village. But that doesn't mean that 'Hinata' should have just up and told her information like that. Now she has to keep that kind of information, and it will start to bother her at some point in the future. Of that she could be certain.

However, even though she was complaining in her mind, Tsukiyo still responded to Hinata, "It's nothing, I probably got it wrong anyhow."
