Chapter 10 - New

Mina and Lysa dragged their feet through the streets, their steps slow and heavy. They had gone from one shop to another, knocking on doors, asking for jobs—each time, turned away like trash. The sun had dipped hours ago. Now, the streets were washed in dull neon lights and patches of shadow.

"Fuck it, Mina," Lysa grumbled, kicking at a loose stone on the pavement. "I can't believe how rude they were. Like they've never seen poor people before. It's like we're some kind of disease."

Mina's lips pressed into a thin line. Her stomach growled, and her head throbbed from the ache of hunger and stress. They passed a small pastry shop, its warm lights spilling onto the sidewalk. The smell of fresh bread made her stomach twist.

She let out a shaky breath.

"How much do we have left, Mina?" Lysa asked, her voice tight.

Mina stuck her hand into her pocket, fingers searching. Panic clawed at her chest. She turned out the lining, checked again. "No... no, no, no," she muttered, her voice rising. "I can't find it. Dammit. Where did I lose it?"

Lysa's eyes widened. "What? The money?"

Mina nodded, her breath hitching. "I—I don't know where it went."

She crouched on the curb, her head dropping into her hands. Tears stung her eyes, hot and sharp. "I'm so fucking stupid," she choked out.

"Mina, don't cry. We'll figure it out," Lysa whispered, kneeling beside her.

But before either could say another word, something—something fast—zipped past them.

Mina's head snapped up. "What was that?"

They both turned, scanning the street. But the lights were too dim, the shadows too thick.

A strange chill prickled down Mina's spine.

Then—

WHAM!

A force, like a gust of wind but stronger, knocked them both flat to the ground.

They fell to the floor, vision spinning. And eye shut close.

.

.

.

Mina's eyes fluttered open slowly, the world spinning around her. Blurred shapes sharpened into worried faces, a small crowd gathered, murmuring.

"Who are you two? Where are you from?" a voice asked, laced with concern.

But Mina didn't even bother answering. Her head throbbed, her body ached, and none of their words mattered. Her only focus was Lysa.

"Lysa?" she whispered, shaking her sister lightly.

Lysa groaned, her eyelids flickering open. Slowly, they both sat up, brushing off the dirt and ignoring the strangers around them. Without a word, Mina grabbed Lysa's arm, and they stumbled away from the crowd, heading back towards their shabby shelter.

"What was that?" Mina muttered under her breath, still shaken.

Lysa, holding her head, could only shake her head slightly, thoughts racing just as much.

The rogue dragon bolted through the dark alley, his breath ragged, feet pounding against the concrete. Behind him, Saira chased relentlessly, her speed almost blurring as her magic flared with every step.

He skidded to a stop, spinning around. His grin was sharp, mocking.

"You ain't gonna give up, are you?" he sneered. "Fine. Let's end this right here."

With a swift motion, he lunged, slamming his foot into her chest. Saira stumbled but rolled back up, spitting blood and fury.

"You're gonna regret that," she hissed.

He charged again, but this time, Saira chanted quickly, words like fire on her tongue. Just as her magic sparked, he struck first, landing a hard blow to her ribs.

"Poor little sorceress," he taunted. "You really think you can stop me? After I'm done with you, I'll march and find the queen of Drakhalia and rip that queen's throat out myself!" His laugh was cruel. "You think you're strong? You're nothing but a glorified messenger with a few party tricks."

He conjured fire in his hands, the flames licking his palms, crackling with deadly intent.

"Say goodbye, bitch," he growled.

But before he could strike, the fire in his hands turned on him.

In an instant, his body was engulfed in searing white flames. His screams split the air, echoing off the walls. He writhed in agony, the fire consuming him.

Saira stood there, eyes wide in shock. Then, slowly, she looked up.

Descending from above, wings wide, white scales shimmering in the night, was Xiraya in her dragon form. Her ember eyes glowed, burning through the darkness. With a thunderous sound, she landed, shifting back into her human form with grace and power.

"One rogue was too much for you, Saira?" Xiraya said coolly, brushing nonexistent dust from her shoulder. "You've been at it since morning."

"I was handling it just fine, Xiraya," Saira snapped, though she winced slightly from her bruises. "And don't shift into your dragon form! You'll expose us!"

Xiraya smirked. "Relax. It's night. No one saw."

"You're an arrogant asshole," Saira grumbled.

"Watch your words, Saira. I'm still your queen," Xiraya said with a sly grin.

They stood there, the burning remains of the rogue smoldering behind them.

"Humans are disgusting," Xiraya added, eyeing a pile of trash nearby with distaste. "Look at this mess."

She turned, walking gracefully to her parked car.

"By the way," she said, pausing, "I think I passed two humans earlier. Those same girls."

"Did they see you?" Saira asked sharply. "I hope you didn't do anything stupid."

Xiraya raised a brow. "What do you take me for? I flew past. They lost consciousness. They didn't see a thing."

Saira sighed, relieved but still irritated. She moved to follow Xiraya into the car, but Xiraya shut the door in her face.

"Take your own car," Xiraya said through the window, her tone dismissive.

"It's parked too far," Saira grumbled.

"Then shift into your dragon. You're not getting in my car," Xiraya said, and with a sharp rev of the engine, she sped off into the night.

Saira groaned, glaring after her before turning to walk—muttering under her breath about annoying queens and their impossible egos.

Mina lay curled beside Lysa, tangled in the thin blanket. Sleep crept over her like a slow wave, pulling her deeper and deeper. But in her dreams…

On a soft bed, warm, delicate hands slid around her waist, soft but possessive. The touch was teasing, almost playful. A voice, low and sultry, whispered close to her ear—its breath tickling her skin.

"Do I turn you on…?"

Mina's lips parted in a shaky breath. The voice—definitely a woman's—wrapped around her like silk, smooth and intoxicating. Lips grazed her neck, slow and sensual, sending tingles through her veins.

She shivered, pressing her back into the warmth behind her. The hands didn't hesitate—they roamed higher, unfastening her shirt with practiced ease. Fingers slid under the thin fabric, brushing the side of her breast, fingertips barely grazing her skin in a maddening tease.

Mina bit her lower lip, a quiet whimper escaping her. The sensation was slow and deliberate, the pressure of lips behind her ear driving her wild. The woman's hand cupped her breast lightly, thumb brushing her hardened nipple in a slow, feather-light circle.

"Ahh…" Mina gasped softly, hips shifting. Her skin burned everywhere the woman touched, the ache between her legs intensifying with every second.

The woman's lips trailed lower, nipping gently at her collarbone, her voice a sultry murmur.

"Say it, doll… tell me you want me."

Mina couldn't speak. She was lost in the sensation—the teasing strokes, the softness of lips, the breath against her skin. Her back arched, her hands gripping the sheets.

The soft , deep and feminine voice, purred in her ear. "That's it… feel it."

Mina's moan was muffled as she turned her face into the pillow, her body trembling under the ghostly touch. Her skin was flushed, heart racing, every nerve ending lit up with pleasure.

"Hmmmm…" she moaned softly in her sleep, her hands clutching at Lysa's body, desperate for something to hold.

The dream felt so vivid, so real. The warmth, the scent of perfume, the softness of lips trailing down her neck—

Mina, a whisper in her ear.

Hmmm

Mina

Hmmmm

"Mina!"

Her name jolted her awake.

Mina gasped, chest heaving, her body hot and tingling as she blinked up at the cracked ceiling. Her hair was damp with sweat, her breathing uneven.

"What the hell…?" she whispered breathlessly.

Lysa leaned closer, her brows furrowed with worry. "Mina? You were moaning. Are you okay? Did anyone hurt you in your sleep?"

Mina opened her mouth, then closed it. She couldn't explain what had just happened—couldn't explain the way her skin still tingled, the heat lingering under her skin, the whisper of a voice still echoing in her mind.

"I just…dreamt about the orphanage," Mina said quickly, her voice tight and brittle. She rubbed at her forehead like she could scrub the memory away. "It was nothing. Just… let's go back to sleep, okay?"

Lysa didn't look convinced, but she nodded. "Okay. Just… if something's wrong, tell me. Don't hide it."

Mina gave her a faint smile, but it didn't reach her eyes. They curled back into the thin blanket, side by side, bodies pressed together for warmth.

Lysa drifted off quickly, her breath slowing into the rhythm of sleep. But Mina lay awake, her heart still racing under her ribs.

The dream lingered—ghostlike and unsettling. She'd never felt something like that before. Not with anyone. And especially not with a girl.

It felt strange. Wrong. But also… intoxicating.

Mina squeezed her eyes shut, willing the images to fade. But her mind betrayed her, replaying the warmth of those hands, the whisper in her ear.

She shifted uncomfortably, her face buried in the crook of her arm.

It's just a stupid dream, she told herself firmly. Dreams don't mean anything.

Still… her heart beat faster.

Eventually, she drifted off—but her sleep was shallow and restless.

Somewhere in the back of her mind, she felt tomorrow wouldn't be any easier.

Sneak peak

"Deliver this to kael Enterprises and don't waste anytime , I have decided to help your life so don't make me regret it"

"I won't, I promise" Mina smiled because hope comes in many forms but this was a miracle .
