Chapter 9 - Chapter 09

THERON

That female was a test to my sanity! According to the nurse, there were no signs of pregnancy in Sienna's body, which shouldn't — didn't even make sense! — but it made me calmer. Me and my wolf.

Now, there we were again, alone, and her scent was driving me crazy! Fenrir didn't feel any different from me, quite the opposite. He fought for control when she collided with both of us, and I couldn't hold him back. I hadn't expected Fenrir to become so... wild!

"Ah… sorry," she said, looking away and taking a step back. Sienna must have thought Fenrir got upset by the contact.

"There's no reason to apologize, Sienna," Fenrir, that bastard, spoke her name with pure malice. I could only watch, as if there were a veil in front of my eyes. "Does my presence bother you?"

"If I say yes, can I leave?" Sienna asked, and I couldn't help but laugh internally. She was bold!

['She's refreshing! And… damn it, Theron, she's ours!'[

Oh no. Ours, no. Fenrir spoke as if... as if Sienna were our fated mate, which was impossible. Okay, not impossible, but she didn't have a wolf! So we wouldn't be able to confirm it anytime soon — maybe never, actually. Besides… I didn't want a fated mate. I've already explained why.

['Behave, Fenrir! And let me take back control!']

He didn't let me, fighting against me. Instead, Fenrir got even closer to Sienna, while she backed away. One step forward from us meant one step back from her. As cliché as it might be, her back hit the wall. Those incredibly blue eyes stared at me, wide, expecting an attack.

['Don't even think about it! Don't you dare, Fenrir!']

['If she's not our fated mate, that would be even better, don't you think? We wouldn't be taking anything from her by force. And... she's delicious! Don't pretend you can't feel it!']

Yes, I could feel it. My whole body reacted to her. I had always maintained control, but Sienna... She was a test from the Moon Goddess!

Fenrir raised his hand and touched a strand of Sienna's hair. She didn't take her eyes off us.

"Your hair is a different color, Sienna. And it suits you a lot. It looks... perfect, actually. Makes you absolutely..."

He didn't finish speaking because I managed to take back control of our body and pushed him to the back of my mind. I shook my head and looked at Sienna, still with her delicate, silky hair between my fingers. My throat was dry.

"It was my wolf. I apologize for that," I said, and Sienna slightly narrowed her eyes but nodded.

"Could you… could you give me some space? And let go of my hair?"

Why was I hesitating? Instead of doing what she asked, I wanted to get even closer. Fenrir was right about the attraction we felt, but it wasn't fair. It wasn't fair for any female to be my mate, chosen or fated. And Sienna seemed to have been through a lot of crap. I wouldn't be the one to put her through more. I'd find a way to have a pup without being tied to the pup's mother.

I stepped back and let Sienna's strands slide over my skin, enjoying the touch. Wherever it passed, it left a different, tingling sensation. What was that female?

'Fated mate' echoed in my head. If she was, I'd send her away. I wouldn't mark her under any circumstance!

"I called you because I want you to get familiar with my routine and with what needs to be done in this office," I said, turning my back. Sienna didn't have a wolf and her sense of smell wasn't that sharp, but she wasn't human. I really hoped her ability to sense when a male was oozing desire wasn't too keen. Hell! I was overflowing with lust!

I walked to my desk and sat down. That distance was good. I felt Sienna relaxing. Damn it, I didn't like that. Was she better off away from me?

'Stop being stupid, Theron!' I told myself. 'Sienna not for you!'

"Sit here!" I ended up speaking more harshly than I meant, and Sienna flinched slightly, but not too much. With all the dignity a rogue could have, she walked up to me and stopped near the chair I had already placed there, almost beside me. "What are you waiting for, Sienna?"

She seemed displeased but sat down. The way she walked, the way she sat... either she grew up around stuck-up humans, or she wasn't just a simple rogue. Not all rogues were wild in every aspect, but they didn't move with Sienna's lightness and fluidity.

"There," she said, a bit too bold. "And now, what do you want me to do?"

"You know that's the kind of question you shouldn't ask a male, don't you?" I saw her face turning red and held myself back from laughing. How could it be so incredibly tempting to make Sienna like that?

['Now imagine her on top of this desk, looking up at us, from below, while we move inside her? She'll turn completely red, no doubt!']

['Shut up!']

Fenrir was proving to be too rebellious, and all because of Sienna!

"Are you going to give me a task or do you just want me to sit here, doing nothing? I'm not complaining, I just don't think we need to waste time. I could be getting my nails done."

I looked at her nails which, definitely, hadn't been cared for in a while. They were trimmed and clean, which, for me, was enough. Honestly, I didn't like overly vain females. Each one does what they want with their body, but I preferred something more... natural. Like Sienna. No exaggeration.

She didn't wear makeup either, something many around here did.

"Sienna, I'm being way too kind to you. Or are you going to tell me you don't know who I am?" I asked, this time using a more serious tone. She seemed to swallow her words.

"And what do you want? For me to behave like a little lamb?"

"Respect would be a good start, for one. I'm the Alpha of this pack and I'm offering you help. Not even a little gratitude?"

"I am grateful! But you're keeping me captive!" Sienna stood up, glaring at me. "I wonder what others'd say if they found out Alpha Theron Valken keeps poor rogues locked up in his territory. Even rogues can't be enslaved!"

Enslaved? I slowly got up. Sienna was small compared to me, and my figure cast a shadow over her body.

"What did you say?"
