Chapter 38 - Hulk Hates Bugs

Tonight, the streets of New York were no longer bustling with traffic as usual.

Gunfire, explosions, gangs seizing territory, agents clashing, the anxious military arriving, and the NYPD scrambling like ants on a hot pan.

Countless forces had turned the once economic hub into a real-life Call of Duty.

On these desolate yet perilous streets, a battered Jeep Grand Cherokee raced desperately forward, riddled with bullet holes.

Inside, Jessica cursed as she wrenched the steering wheel.

As the car turned, her curses finally spilled out.

"Fuck S.H.I.E.L.D., fuck Nick Fury, fuck that twisted freak! I've had it with this city!!!"

She drove through the hail of bullets, reaching within forty meters of the Triskelion.

Suddenly, six turrets emerged at the entrance, spitting blue flames.

At the sight, Jessica wanted to curse again!

"Watch yourself! We're ditching the car!"

She told Aireda, then smashed the car door with her left hand, sending it flying.

With her right hand, she grabbed Aireda and leaped out, tossing the Skrull aside.

Jessica's sturdy body allowed her to land firmly without rolling.

By then, the turrets at S.H.I.E.L.D.'s entrance had opened fire.

The Jeep exploded instantly, and more gunfire targeted Jessica.

She quickly threw Aireda away and took the brunt of the bullets herself.

Looking at her tattered clothes, she grimaced.

"I really need something to cover these boobs, something that won't get shredded!"

As she spoke, she rushed to Aireda, stripped off the Skrull's jacket, and put it on.

"I'm going in. Follow me and guide the way!"

Zipping up, Jessica sprinted, leaping to a turret in two steps.

She tore the turret from its base and hurled it at another.

Repeating this, she disabled all turrets, then charged into S.H.I.E.L.D.'s command center with Aireda.

At the command center's entrance, over forty agents were attacking the room.

Their assault meant the fake Nick Fury inside was still alive.

Aireda's face lit up with hope.

"Are you sure your Skrull is in there?"

Jessica asked. Aireda nodded eagerly.

Her answer annoyed Jessica, who grimaced.

Too many people outside—a real hassle. Should she go on a killing spree?

Killing spree…

She'd already done that!

Whoosh!

She stepped forward, though without Heisenberg's aura.

But as a super-weakened version of Supergirl with over eighty tons of bench press strength, Jessica had her own intimidating presence.

With one charge, she slammed four agents into the corridor walls.

If only Jessica knew martial arts, she might've left them hanging like paintings.

Weaving through, like a tiger among sheep, a superhuman's rampage was sheer terror to mortals.

Over forty trained agents barely scratched her clothes.

She stripped a knocked-out agent's clothes and put them on, then knocked on the slightly cracked but intact sealed door.

Testing it, Jessica shook her head. Her strength was far from the Hulk's; she couldn't tear open S.H.I.E.L.D.'s custom security door.

"I'm here for Aireda. Is that Skrull alien inside?"

The door opened. A wounded, tattered Nick Fury emerged.

"Aireda!!!"

He ignored Jessica, calling Aireda's name and running to her.

They embraced amidst the bloodshed, a romantic scene that made Jessica want to vomit.

After all, a black egg hugging a green egg…

"Ugh~ Sorry, I think I drank too much. Ugh!!!"

Maybe from too much alcohol, Jessica actually leaned against the wall and threw up.

The Skrulls glanced at her, then resumed their embrace, unfazed.

Just as humans found them ugly, they found humans equally unattractive.

No wrinkles, no green—how could that compare to their mysterious, wrinkled faces?

As they embraced, Aireda told Nick Fury about her deal with Heisenberg.

"You must die as Nick Fury, in public. The real Nick Fury and Hill must be handed over to Heisenberg afterward."

Nick Fury nodded decisively.

"Don't worry, I haven't revealed my identity. I'll find a good spot to die. Oh, Aireda, who's that human woman?"

"Heisenberg's subordinate, very strong, possibly stronger than a regular Super-Skrull!"

"Earth is full of surprises. Let's go. I'll die quickly, and we'll go home."

"Yeah, home."

The Skrulls quickly agreed, leading Jessica toward the S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy.

If there was one place in S.H.I.E.L.D. with the most personnel, it was the New York S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy.

Over three thousand excellent reserve agents, 99% uncorrupted by Hydra.

Thus, it became Hydra's primary target.

"Simmons, where are you? Simmons!!!"

Leo Fitz, a S.H.I.E.L.D. Level 3 agent, S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy graduate with two PhDs, desperately called his friend's name.

The war came too suddenly, and orders were only given to one side.

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s righteous agents couldn't organize an effective resistance.

In less than ten minutes, the Academy's student-led defense was overwhelmed.

Hydra stormed in, seizing top talents.

Fitz survived because Hydra valued and needed talent.

He searched, holding his degrees, weaving through battle zones.

He thought of nothing but finding his dream—ensuring she was alive.

But he never expected…

Boom!

As he reached Classroom 3, the ground shook violently!

The tremor was intense, and the ground rapidly rose into a mound 1.3 meters high, 25 meters wide.

"Damn, what's that?!"

Fitz fled, knowing something was about to burst out.

But what monster could cause such force?

The Academy's underground had trembled like this before!

What was hidden down there?

Even in this crisis, Fitz couldn't help but wonder—curiosity, a scientist's curse.

Fortunately, he fled while thinking. After eighty meters, the ground shook again.

A six-meter-tall green monster leaped from the mound, soaring eighty meters high!

With one jump, Fitz concluded: this green giant could lift over ten thousand tons.

Maybe more!

...

Meanwhile, Nick Fury reached the Academy plaza, firing and shouting at resisting students.

"I'm Nick Fury! Everyone…"

"Bang!!!"

As both Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D. students were drawn to his name, the unthinkable happened.

A fatal shot hit Nick Fury's chest, spraying blood.

In the next instant, a hole appeared in his chest, and he collapsed.

Ignoring the students' grief and Hydra's elation, the Hulk, mid-jump, saw Nick Fury fall.

The Hulk was enraged!

"Hulk… hates liars! Roar!!!"

He roared, charging madly toward Nick Fury's body, intent on turning it into mincemeat.

Jessica, thinking her job was done, was horrified, nearly vomiting blood!

"What the hell is that monster? Fuck! I'm going all out!!!"

She dashed toward Nick Fury. As the Hulk's foot was about to crush the body, Jessica's slender foot kicked his waist.

Boom!!!

The Hulk was sent flying twenty meters but quickly got up.

Jessica's strength barely harmed him—it only made him angrier!

"Hulk very angry!!!"

"Me too, damn it! Heisenberg, I've earned your favor!!!"

Jessica charged the Hulk, narrowly dodging his punch, then rolled twice to his side.

She got up and punched his calves twice.

Not because she liked low blows, but she couldn't reach higher without jumping.

Jump in front of the Hulk?

She dared not.

One mistake, and few could escape his grasp unharmed!

See: Thor and Loki…

After two punches, Jessica dodged over a dozen attacks, then found another chance to strike.

She delayed the Hulk for over three minutes until he slammed her into the Academy library!

One blow left her weakened. She struggled to get up, but by then, the Hulk blocked her path!

"Hulk hates bugs!"

His roar accompanied his green fist, growing larger in Jessica's vision, as did her pupils.

She thought she'd die, but then a flippant voice sounded.

"Isn't this Superman's bed buddy? Why handle him yourself? Dumped by that Heisenberg bastard?"

The voice came from above. As Tony mocked, he unleashed two-thirds of his shoulder-mounted missiles at the Hulk's head.
