"No one's trying to take it from you, you don't have to eat so fast."
Jiang Chen wiped Ralts's mouth. Ralts's mouth was completely covered in cream.
"Young Master, Madam isn't coming back today. These are things Madam sent back: move scrolls. She asked me to give them to you."
Ning Ya brought out a large pile of move scrolls, including Psychic-type, Steel-type, Normal-type, and Water-type move scrolls.
"So many."
Jiang Chen looked at the box filled with move scrolls. If these were to be sold, their value would be at least around a billion Alliance Coins.
That's right, move scrolls were that expensive. After all, with a move scroll, teaching a Pokémon a new move was simple.
He picked through them and finally chose a Water Pulse move scroll, then called Squirtle over.
He had Squirtle use it. After use, Squirtle entered a dazed state.
Jiang Chen could sense the faint mental energy emanating from the move scroll.
Move scrolls worked by using hypnotic suggestion to transmit the techniques of performing a move into a Pokémon's mind. Through practice, they could quickly master the move.
After one use, the mental energy on the disc storing the move scroll would be depleted, rendering it ineffective. It was a one-time use item.
However, the disc could be recycled and then re-engraved by a powerful Psychic-type Pokémon, allowing for reuse.
To create a move scroll, at least a Champion-level Psychic-type Pokémon was required. Thus, move scrolls were very expensive, unaffordable for ordinary people.
While move scrolls were good, they couldn't compare to the TMs (Technical Machines) in the system. Move scrolls engraved the techniques into a Pokémon's mind, but still required practice to master, at most reducing learning time.
TMs, however, allowed a Pokémon to instantly master a move and could be repeatedly used on other Pokémon.
TMs weren't cheap in the shop. They even had TMs for legendary Pokémon's exclusive moves, but these weren't useful to buy as ordinary Pokémon probably couldn't learn them.
TMs were temporarily unaffordable. Fortunately, completing the mission of ranking first in the campus tournament and the mission of gathering six Pokémon would grant him the Psychic-type Teleport TM and the Water-type Hydro Pump TM.
Before long, Squirtle finally came to its senses, recovering from its dazed state. No need to worry, move scrolls had no side effects.
He took Squirtle to the courtyard.
"Squirtle, try using Water Pulse."
Squirtle tried, but awkwardly found it couldn't unleash the move.
Brain: "I got it!"
Hand: "No, you don't."
"Take your time to research and practice. Don't rush." Jiang Chen comforted Squirtle, who was sweating profusely from anxiety.
Even a Pokémon with Champion-level talent couldn't unleash a move just by reading a move scroll. So it was normal for Squirtle not to learn it immediately.
"You've trained all day today. Let's rest first and train again tomorrow."
Jiang Chen prepared nutrient solutions for all his Pokémon. These were made from some precious berries and could quickly restore stamina. They were effective for both humans and Pokémon. Long-term consumption could slowly improve one's constitution.
One bottle of this stuff was worth 100,000 Alliance Coins, but Jiang Chen's family specialized in these, so he naturally wasn't short on them.
Jiang Chen's family corporation mainly dealt in: Poké Balls, Pokémon food, Pokéblocks, and nutrient solutions.
If Alakazam's strength broke through to Champion-level, he might even add move scrolls to their sales.
Returning to his room, Jiang Chen took out his notebook and recorded the training plan he had made for his Pokémon.
After finishing the training plan, Jiang Chen checked the time. It was already 10 PM.
Jiang Chen, who now had the habit of early bedtime and early rising, took a bath and then rested.
The next morning, Jiang Chen felt something pressing on his stomach. He opened his eyes and moved the pink-haired Ralts off his stomach.
Ralts woke up too, rubbing its eyes.
"Ralts."
Ralts tilted its head.
Looking at its cute appearance, he didn't mind it sleeping on his stomach for a night. Fortunately, Ralts wasn't heavy.
"System, sign in."
[Ding, sign-in successful. Congratulations, Host, you have received: Mochi Charm x5, Points +100!]
[Mochi Charm: A candy filled with energy that can increase a Pokémon's stamina!]
Jiang Chen looked at the five candies he now had. Perfect, he currently had five Pokémon, one for each.
He directly distributed the Mochi Charms. Their strength didn't change, and whether their stamina increased wasn't visibly apparent on the surface.
He'd know how much it increased after training.
"If I get a Rare Candy, can it directly boost strength?"
In the games, Rare Candies could raise a Pokémon's level by one. In reality, could a Rare Candy raise a Pokémon's strength by one stage?
He'd probably have to try it to know.
He looked forward to signing in and getting a Rare Candy someday.
After breakfast, Jiang Chen once again had Alakazam take him to a forest, but this time it wasn't the same forest as yesterday.
This forest was further from Tianhai City and larger.
"Shedinja, I didn't expect to see this Pokémon with a BUG ability as soon as I arrived."
He never expected to see this Pokémon with an incredibly abnormal ability as soon as he arrived in this forest.
Shedinja, also known as the "ghost cicada," is a product of Nincada's evolution.
It is not an evolution of Nincada itself, but rather the discarded cicada husk left behind when Nincada evolves into Ninjask.
Its base stats weren't high, and its HP was minimal, practically dying from a single touch. But its ability was very tricky.
The Wonder Guard ability meant that only super-effective moves could deal damage.
Shedinja is a Bug/Ghost-type Pokémon. Only Flying-type, Rock-type, Fire-type, Ghost-type, and Dark-type moves, which are super effective against Shedinja, could deal damage to it.
Other moves would be nullified, directly immune to damage.
"If you happen to encounter a Pokémon that doesn't have any super-effective types, Shedinja is invincible and can be used to annoy people."
If this ability were given to a sufficiently strong Pokémon with few weaknesses, it would absolutely sweep everything.
Although he liked Shedinja's ability, Jiang Chen wouldn't catch Shedinja.
Because Shedinja had very little training value. Anyway, he had never heard of anyone training a powerful Shedinja.
