Episode 34: "Echoes of a Broken Past"

---

The rain outside whispered secrets against the shattered glass as Kara and Adrian sat in the dim light of the hideout. Every drop was a reminder that time was slipping through their fingers — and with it, the fragile hope they clung to.

Adrian's fingers brushed a stray lock of hair from Kara's face. "Tomorrow, we find Dr. Vane."

Kara swallowed hard, her mind racing. "But where do we even start? He's a ghost. Somewhere in the labyrinth of the Lazarus Project. Somewhere no one else can reach."

Ronan stepped forward, sliding a worn map across the table. "There's a facility—deep underground, beneath the old city ruins. It's been abandoned officially for years, but rumors say Vane's been using it as his base. If anyone knows where the protocols began, it's there."

Tessa flicked on the holographic display, showing a faded blueprint of tunnels and secret labs. "Security's tight, but with the right plan, we can get in."

Adrian nodded. "No mistakes. Kara, this is what you came here for. To uncover the truth — and to break free."

---

That night, Kara lay awake, staring at the ceiling as memories clawed at the edges of her mind — flashes of a life she couldn't fully recall, fragments of a past she was afraid to face.

Her breath hitched as a single thought echoed through her soul.

What if everything I remember is just another lie?

---

Outside the city, in a darkened chamber lined with monitors, a pale hand rested on a cold console. Dr. Elias Vane's voice, calm and icy, filled the room.

"Subject Kara is beginning to stir. The secondary failsafe is primed. The Omega Phase will commence."

A slow, sinister smile crept across his face as the screen flickered, displaying Kara's image once more.

"Let the fire burn."

---

The next morning, the team prepared. Weapons checked, gadgets armed, hearts steeled.

As they loaded into the van, Kara's resolve hardened.

She wasn't just fighting for her life anymore. She was fighting to reclaim it.
