Chapter 53 - Ch.53: Heroes Vs Villains

The morning sun filtered through the tall windows of U.A. High School, casting a warm glow over the desks of Class 1-A. Students sat attentively as their literature teacher discussed the nuances of classical Japanese poetry. Kael Ishiro, seated at the back of the class tapped his pen rhythmically against his notebook, his mind drifting between the lesson and the events of the previous day.

Im front of him, Yumi Hoshino scribbled notes diligently, occasionally glancing back at Kael with a knowing smile.

The morning progressed with subjects ranging from mathematics to modern history, each teacher bringing their unique flair to the classroom.

As the clock struck noon, the atmosphere shifted. Students exchanged curious glances, anticipating the next class on their schedule: Hero Studies.

Suddenly, the classroom door slid open with a dramatic flair.

"I AM… COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!"

The words boomed through the classroom like a cannon blast, immediately followed by a gust of wind that seems to carry justice itself. His brilliant white teeth flash in a dazzling smile, and his entire form is bathed in the golden aura of midday sun pouring in behind him. His cape flutters as well even though there's no wind inside the classroom

The students gasped in unison, their eyes wide with awe.

"It's really him…" Mineta whispered.

"T-This must be a dream! The Number One Hero is our direct instructor?!" Iida said as he stood up then bowed in a very respectful manner.

"He's wayyy taller than I thought he was. His muscles are as big as my torso.." Yumi said with her arms crossed behind her head.

"They're really going all out, aren't they." Kael murmured underneath his breath

All Might stepped forward, his presence commanding attention.

"Welcome, Class 1-A! I will be your teacher for Hero Studies. Today, we'll be conducting battle training."

He gestured to a large monitor displaying various hero costumes. "But first, get changed into your hero outfits and meet me at Training Ground Beta."

All Might exited the class. As the door closed, the students went up in an uproar, excited about All Might presence and the upcoming training exercise.

"Hell yeah! All Might as our teacher?! This school just got even better!"

"Do you think he'll train us one on one? Imagine getting pointers from the Number One Hero in the world!"

"Hey, are you guys ready to see my costume? I've been working on it for the past year!"

All sorts of conversation were held as the students got up and headed towards their lockers. Yumi extended her hand to Kael and he took it, helping himself up as they began walking out

"You're nose is gonna bleed real good when you see my outfit."

"Oh yeah? Guess I'll be the judge of that.."

"Heheh.."

They split up aftet they went to said locker rooms. As Kael entered, he could hear the metal lockers opening in a chorus, the sound bouncing off the tiled walls as the boys of Class 1-A started changing into their hero costumes for the very first time. Voices overlapped—some buzzing with excitement, others laced with nervousness.

"I can't believe we get to do this already," Kaminari grinned, slipping on his yellow gear. "Day two and it's already hero time!"

"This is so manly!" Kirishima declared, tightening the red straps on his forearms. "I've been waiting for this moment my whole life."

Across the room, Kael sat on the bench by his locker, quietly lacing up his boots. He was calm and focused, methodically checking over each piece of his uniform before putting it on. He didn't say much, but the room around him seemed to naturally lower its volume when he moved.

Izuku, changing a few lockers down, was still fumbling with his costume's sleeves. "I-I think my mom went a little overboard," he muttered, clearly overwhelmed by the bright green jumpsuit.

"Yeah, dude, that hood makes it look like you're gonna jump out of a cereal box," Kaminari joked, though without any real malice.

"It's… kind of charming, though," Sero offered, chuckling. "Like a walking All Might plush."

The class laughed, and Izuku's shoulders sank in embarrassment, but Kael gave him a brief glance. "It's a symbol," Kael said, his voice calm. "If it gives you strength, then wear it with pride."

Izuku blinked, surprised, and slowly nodded. "Right… thanks."

Just as the atmosphere began to settle, a door from the adjoining hallway swung open. A voice called from beyond—one of the staff aides. "Girls'll be out in two. Then you're all headed to Ground Beta."

Kael stood up, now fully dressed. He tugged his gloves snugly into place and stretched out his arms once, rolling his shoulders to test the mobility. The class naturally began to quiet as the gravity of what was coming sank in.

Their first taste of real hero work.

The students gathered at the training ground, each donning their personalized hero costumes. Kael's hero outfit is a sleek, tactical combat suit built for precision, agility, and power.

It features a black base layered with bold, streamlined wigh navy blue accents that trace along the arms, chest, and legs, creating a dynamic silhouette. The fabric is reinforced but flexible, allowing for full mobility in high-speed combat. Integrated into the forearms are sharp, metallic gauntlet bracers—designed both for close-quarters offense and channeling his Darkbind Quirk.

The chest is protected by a lightweight navy blue armored plate, while a silver harness system overlays the shoulders and back, hinting at a hidden support mechanism or tool housing. A broad utility belt with reinforced pouches wraps around his waist, complemented by tactical thigh holsters for gear storage.

The boots are combat-grade, laced and plated in navy blue, engineered for both impact resistance and silent movement. Despite the armor's strength, the overall design remains smooth and unbroken—streamlined like a second skin. The suit exudes discipline, danger, and efficiency—perfectly reflecting Kael's evolving presence as a formidable, calculated student and future Hero.

Ignoring the glances and murmurs from his classmates, Kaels' eyes locked onto Yumis. "Good lord…," he could feel his heart rising as he checked her out.

Yumi's hero costume is an elegant, full-body suit that embodies the boundless wonder of the cosmos. It's a seamless, obsidian-black bodysuit—sleek and skin-tight—designed for mobility and grace.

Across the suit, intricate constellations shimmer in softly glowing lines of pale gold, violet, and starlight blue. These trails of light flow along her arms, torso, and legs like living star maps, shifting subtly as she moves, giving the illusion that galaxies are coursing beneath her skin.

Her shoulders and upper chest of the suit bloomed into sharp, angular patterns resembling super novas—like solar flares frozen in motion. From her back, translucent accents shaped like stylized wings of light fan outward and downward, tapering like falling stars. They aren't actual wings, but more like energy-infused décor that pulse when she activates her Quirk.

The most prominent feature is a radiant constellation emblazoned across her chest—a symbolic representation of her hero identity. The stars connect in a symmetrical pattern that evokes both power and mystery, like a legendary celestial figure watching over the battlefield.

Her gloves and boots are part of the seamless suit, with pointed heels and reinforced soles that glow faintly at the toes and heels. Her long platinum hair flows freely down her back like a comet's tail, and golden hoop earrings accent her cosmic aesthetic. Her eyes, when her Quirk is active, reflect distant nebulae—enhancing the mystique of her presence.

Yumi's outfit not only screams fire and aggression—it radiates awe, control, and the beauty of the stars themselves.

'I need to make that mines before..'

"You okay there, shadow boy?" Yumi asked with a sly grin, her voice smooth like velvet dipped in mischief.

Kael turned his face slightly, ears tinged with red. "I—yeah. Just wasn't expecting… that."

"Mm," Yumi hummed, stepping closer. She leaned in just enough that the glow from her suit brushed across his chest. "You sure? You've seen tons of beautiful woman before haven't you? Tryna make me feel all special."

"I've never seen any like you.." he muttered under his breath.

She laughed softly, circling behind him like a comet orbiting a planet. "If I knew you'd react like this, I would've worn it around the house." Her tone dropped, just a little. "You're cute when you're flustered, Kael."

He shot her a look—half annoyed, half helpless—before turning his eyes toward the waiting battlefield. "Stop that, Yumi. We need to focus. It's starting.."

"Of course," she said sweetly, brushing a hand through her hair. "But don't trip over your own boots trying not to stare."

Kael exhaled slowly, shaking his head as he moved toward the gate.

He wasn't sure what was more dangerous—Yumi… or the challenge ahead.

All Might addressed the class. "Wow! YOU ALL LOOK GREAT! The future sure is bright!" All Might gave compliments to each of their outfits. He called Minetas outfit fitting, asked Sero how he came up with the mask idea, told Izuku he was being a little too transparent, told Kael his color scheme matched his quirk, asked Yumi if her father helped her design her outfit.

Much to Kaels surprise, All Might was actually pretty chill. He was the strongest man in the world, and Kael guessed because of that, he could act however he wanted and people would still praise and respect him.

'That's the kind of Hero I want to be someday..' All Might clasped his hands together and began speaking.

'Today's exercise is simple: Heroes vs. Villains. You'll be split into teams of two to simulate a battle scenario. Two Heroes vs Two Villains. And now, because you'll never know who you might have to team up with on the battlefield, you're teammates will be randomized."

After much deliberation, the teams were decided. Kael wasn't particularly fond of the other matchups, but he was determined to win his own. As he gazed at Yumi, he couldn't help but feel a sense of foreboding. "Yumi, did you plan this or something?" he sighed, a hint of concern in his voice.

She laughed, walking over to his side. "Nerp! Looks like fate has plans for us to always be together..!" Yumi and Kael were teammates, playing the Villains. There opponents, Mina and Aoyama, the Heroes.

After everyone got acquainted with their teammates, All Might announced the first match:

Team A (Heroes): Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka

Team B (Villains): Katsuki Bakugo and Tenya Iida

As the teams prepared, Kael observed Izuku closely. He noted the tension in Izuku's posture, the determination in his eyes. Seeing him so nervous irked Kael.

"Hey, come here." He motioned Izuku over. He nodded, telling Uraraka he would be right back.

"W-What's up? Oh I saw that you got Yumi as your teammate. Try not to go overboard okay?"

"Yeah, Yeah sure. Listen man. This is your moment to prove yourself. You got All Might watching, your lady friend, me, Yumi, all of us watching you, okay?"

"Ee!" He jumped a little.

"All im saying is don't let Katsuki get in your head before the match even starts. Show him you're not afraid. Show him your strong. Do not hold back."

Izuku hesitated, wanting to say something back, but instead he just nodded and clenched his fist. "Im going to show you, even All Might, that I have what it takes to be a Hero. Don't you worry."

Izuku patted Kaels shoulder, waved, and walked back over to his teammate. Yumi stood next to Kael, nodding her head approvingly.

"You're such a big brother, you know that? It's cute."

"Just don't wanna see himself be humiliated and bullied. You know he told me about how much pain and suffering he went through growing up? Bullying, being shunned. Even little ol spraklers over there told him to just commit suicide because apparently that's better than being Quirkless.."

"R-Really? Bakugo, he said that..? That's just..." Yumi couldn't believe what she was hearing. Telling someone to commit suicide was just too much for her.

"That little piece of shit..!" Kael could feel the air around them getting hotter as she began starring intensely at Bakugo.

"Yeah, I know. It angered me too. Almost took the bastards Quirk during the entrance ceremony. I was this close Yumi. This close.."

"You should have made an exception, just this once. You should have shown that punk what it's like to be Quirkless."

"You're absolutely right, Yumi..." Kael's voice was low, edged with heat. "People like that… thinking power makes you more human than someone else—it pisses me off. Like not having a Quirk makes you completely worthless."

Yumi turned slightly to look at him, her expression softening, shadowed with understanding. "Kael…"

But before he could say anything more, pain struck—fast, violent.

A spike lanced through Kael's skull like an invisible dagger. He grunted, stumbling, swaying—

—right into Yumi.

He barely registered her gasp as his body leaned against her, his weight pressed into her chest. Her arms instinctively wrapped around him, holding him steady.

"Kael!" she whispered, alarmed. "What happened? Hey—Kael, talk to me!"

His eyes widened as the world blurred, and suddenly, it wasn't Yumi's face he was seeing.

A shadowed figure—himself?—loomed over someone crumpled on the ground. A hand reached forward, glowing with unnatural force, gripping their face—

And then a scream, raw and desperate, was cut off.

Power tore away like flesh.

Gone.

Kael blinked hard, his breathing ragged, body trembling slightly in Yumi's arms.

Yumi cupped his cheek, searching his eyes. "You're shaking… What was that?"

Kael slowly straightened, the ghost of the vision still clinging to his senses like smoke. He didn't answer her question—not directly.

"I'm okay," he said quietly, not meeting her eyes. "I-I just.."

"You're not okay," she said softly. "You looked like you were in pain."

He hesitated, then finally looked at her. "I don't know what that was. It felt like… Like I was.."

Yumi didn't press further. Instead, she kept her arms around him a moment longer.

"I've got you," she whispered.

Kael nodded once, barely. Then he stepped back, slowly out of her grasp.

"Thanks, Yumi."

They stood together a few seconds more in silence, the world slowly coming back into focus around them. Whatever had just happened—it wasn't over.

Not by a long shot.
