Chapter 4 - Expected results

Alex didn't will the wheel to spin just yet. Instead, he took a moment to glance at the mess of incomprehensible letters scrawled all over its surface.

Except they weren't incomprehensible anymore.

Hadn't been for almost a decade.

As much as he hated the freaking condom the wheel had spat out a decade ago, it was still an "item" — created or summoned by the Wheel of Fortune. Proof of that came in the form of the golden letters that always appeared whenever he looked at the wretched thing. No other object in the eleven years he'd been alive in this world had ever triggered the same effect.

But it gave him an idea back then. A weird one.

He went to a mirror the next day, stared into his own eyes, and focused. Unexpectedly, it worked.

What he saw back then did not change. The description remained exactly the same ever since:

Name: Eternal 1-Tomoe Sharingan

Class: Physical Trait

Rarity: A

Remains active without the need for chakra or any equivalent energy source.

Grants eidetic memory while active.

Grants the ability to see chakra (or equivalent energy sources).

Allows the user to copy ninjutsu up to a certain complexity.

Enhances kinetic vision, enabling the copying and recognition of taijutsu techniques.

Enables the use of genjutsu through direct eye contact.

May evolve into a 2-Tomoe Sharingan if certain conditions are met.

Note: This boon does not provide chakra to the user.

That alone was reason enough for Alex to give up on trying to find any "hidden energy" inside himself. No point chasing chakra that wasn't there.

So instead, he focused entirely on his own "taijutsu," so to speak.

But that wasn't the important part.

Well—it was. Just not as important as the fact that Alex had started to understand the kind of mental focus needed to summon the golden letters when looking at something Wheel-related.

One thing led to another, and eventually, he tried this new "identify"-like ability on the wheel itself.

This is what he got:

Name: Wheel of Fortune

Rarity: ∞̷̴̵̲̹̘͇͍̻̘͔̫̒ͨ̐ͮͨͮ̍ͤ̽̇̃̾͑ͤ͘̚͘͝

Expected, really.

But when he focused specifically on the eldritch letters etched on it... he found the drop rates.

90% — F

9% — E

0.9% — D

0.09% — C

0.009% — B

0.0009% — A

0.00009% — S

0.000009% — SS

0.0000009% — SSS

0.0000001% — Ḛ̸͚͙̈́̋͋͜͝X̶̛͖̣̗̠͍̆̔̊͂

Didn't sound that bad... until you did the math.

After a hundred years of living and rolling once per year, statistically speaking, the best you were likely to walk away with was a D-grade thing.

The A+ grade drop he'd get after his ten rolls?

That was a one-time miracle. A newbie gift, unfortunately.

And yes, he'd gotten that info from the Wheel too.

He could only hope the rates would improve somehow.

Otherwise, he'd have to look into doing some "quests."

Not that he had any so far.

Maybe they didn't exist.

Maybe he just needed to do stuff and the Wheel would reward him accordingly.

Still, he hoped quests would start popping up once the plot kicked in—maybe in three or four years.

Speaking of canon…

Finding info on Inko Midoriya was easy enough online, and through her, her son—the main character of this world.

Future ninth wielder of One For All.

Izuku was, unsurprisingly, also eleven years old, and likely getting bullied to hell and back around now.

A better person might've felt the urge to interfere.

Alex didn't.

He was firmly in the "don't stir the pot" camp. At least for now.

Sure, he could try tweaking things to his advantage, but he might just as easily tweak them in a way that blew up in his face.

There was virtue in patience.

That might change today, though—

Depending on what the Wheel gave him.

An A-rank something would demand being used somehow, no?

"Either way, I'm rambling. Let's do this."

SPIN ×10

The Wheel began spinning in his mental space.

Darkness twisted into light as it shrieked to a halt—only to lurch into motion again, noiseless and smooth . Again and again it spun, again and again it stopped.

And when it finally froze for good, he opened his eyes in the real world.

Six items lay spread out on the floor in front of him.

Used earplugs (F)

Wooden plank (F)

Chewing gum (F)

Dandelion petal (F)

Plastic bottle (F)

Banana peel (F)

Truly, divine treasures. Proof of the Wheel's omnipotence!

Alex didn't even bother checking their descriptions.

His attention shifted instead to the golden letters now floating before him, far more interesting than the junk heap on his floor.

The following boons have been bestowed:

Iron Claws (E)

Sleep Resistance (E)

Math Apprentice (E)

Planeswalker – RWBY (S)
