Chapter 3 - The Tempter

"It's me, Jimmy. I have a message from Mr. Pedro to deliver to Honorable Maxwell," Jimmy said.

"Okay, wait a few minutes," replied Bright.

"Okay," Jimmy responded.

Inside the executive meeting room, Efi was restless. I hope it's not one of those girls again, she thought. She excused herself and stepped out of the meeting hall, only to discover that it was Jimmy standing outside.

"Ah! It's you. I suspected it," Efi said.

"I'm not here because of you," Jimmy replied. "I just came to see Maxwell."

What can I do to block this girl? Efi thought. Then an idea struck her. She returned to the meeting room and said, "Let's allow the lady to come in and explain her assignment to Maxwell."

"You're right," the others agreed—just to prevent Jimmy from having a private conversation with Maxwell.

Bright went out and invited her in. However, Jimmy refused. "It's a private message meant for Maxwell alone," she insisted. "Besides, we are all co-workers here. I have the right to a private conversation with him."

"Okay," Bright said.

Back in the meeting, Bright reported, "It's Jimmy. She refused to come in, insisting that her message is for Maxwell alone."

"Alright. Let her wait outside," Maxwell replied.

Efi sat uneasily. This girl is serious. If I relax, she might get through to him. I can't let that happen.

After the meeting, Efi quickly approached Maxwell.

"Maxwell, I want to speak with you," she said.

"For what?" Maxwell asked.

"Let's go into your office," she suggested.

"Not now. You know Jimmy is outside waiting to see me. That can wait."

"Okay, but wait—Maxwell, I want you by my side. That's why I've been hovering around your office. I'm hurting inside. I'm dying for you. If I can't have you, I feel like I'll die completely. Please, look at me… say something."

Maxwell sighed. "Hmm... Efi, is that why you joined the executives—to seduce me?"

"No," she replied, flustered. "I… I…"

"It's okay. See you next time," Maxwell said.

Efi screamed, "Ahhhhh!" which drew attention.

Sofia rushed to her. "Friend, what happened?"

"I hit my leg on the doorstep," Efi lied.

"Take care, dear," Sofia said.

A few minutes later, Maxwell sent for Jimmy through Sofia.

"Jimmy, Maxwell is calling you," Sofia said.

"Okay, I'm coming," Jimmy replied, holding a bottle of water as she walked to Maxwell's office. Sofia accompanied her.

When they entered, Jimmy greeted and sat down. Sofia was about to leave when Maxwell said, "Wait. There's nothing private my P.A. can't hear."

"Okay," Jimmy replied. She brought out the letter and handed it to Maxwell, who sat opposite her. As Maxwell read the letter, Jimmy used her foot to subtly touch his.

Maxwell coughed.

"Is anything the matter?" Sofia asked.

"No, I'm fine," Maxwell replied.

Then, Jimmy intentionally knocked the water bottle over.

"Oh no," she exclaimed.

"Don't worry, I'll get a mop to clean it," Sofia said.

"Thanks," Jimmy replied.

Once Sofia left, Jimmy opened her shirt slightly, walked toward Maxwell, and grabbed his hand.

"What do you want from me?" Maxwell asked, trying to remain calm.

"I told you I love you," Jimmy said, "but you've been ignoring me for other women."

"Okay, just let go of me first," Maxwell responded.

Jimmy hugged Maxwell and began unbuttoning his shirt. Maxwell was confused and didn't know what to do.

Just then, Sofia opened the door and saw them. She tried to close it again, but Maxwell called her back.

Jimmy quickly composed herself, buttoned up, and sat down quietly.

Sofia thought to herself: What's going on here? Is Maxwell pretending? Is Jimmy not ashamed? Or maybe she's just desperate. After all, many women would love to be with the manager.

Jimmy stood up angrily and left the office. "I'll be back," she said.

Sofia turned to Maxwell. "Sir, this is your time to enjoy life, but maybe you should do it at your house or a lodge."

Maxwell replied calmly, "What do you mean by that suggestion?"

"Nothing, sir," Sofia said.

"I don't believe you. If you didn't see anything, you wouldn't be talking," Maxwell replied. "Ah, you mean what happened with Jimmy?"

"Yes," Sofia said.

"Thank God you came in. If not, she would've implicated me. I had to cover her mouth to stop her from screaming," Maxwell explained.

"Really?" asked Sofia.

"Yes. That was just the first phase of the drama."

Sofia added, "Maybe she really loves you but doesn't know how to say it the right way."

"Love? No. That was pure lust. And such a person is dangerous to marry," Maxwell said.

Sofia replied. "Just be careful in your position. Many people think they should be in your place, not you."

"You're right," Maxwell agreed. "And to think Mr. Pedro sent her… If she weren't related to him, I'd have suspended her already."

"No need for that," Sofia advised. "She'll keep trying. And besides, you're not a eunuch."

"I just need to be cautious. Mr. Pedro is clearly plotting something."

"Yes," Sofia nodded. "He wants to bring a suitor through the back door."

"Thank you, Sofia. Your advice always gives me a way out from ladies"

"Ladies?" Sofia teased.

"Yes," Maxwell smiled.

"Which means there are many after me." "Interesting," Sofia replied.

"One day, it will all end." answered Maxwell.

"Exactly. But how? Will you give in to them—or marry one of them?" Sofia asked playfully.

"Don't worry. You'll find out soon," Maxwell said.

They concluded their discussion. Not long after, Bright arrived.

Questions: could it be true that Maxwell is a pretendee or gay.
