"Dammit!" Watching the black-haired man appear in the next surveillance feed, steadily approaching the central control room, Chu Xun's face darkened with unease.
He had a bad feeling—this strange black-haired man was definitely coming for him!
"I need to get out of here!" With that thought, Chu Xun immediately opened the hospital doors through the control console, then dashed out of the central control room, quickly sprinting down another corridor toward the exit.
"Destruction..." Meanwhile, the black-haired man walking down the corridor seemed to sense something. He slightly flared his nostrils, as if sniffing for a specific scent.
In no time, the black-haired man seemed to have located the source of the scent, and a faint red light flickered in his dull eyes as he began to increase his pace, heading toward the direction Chu Xun had taken.
At first, the man's movements were slow and unstable, as if he were learning to walk like a baby, but soon, his steps became firmer, and his speed increased.
Before long, his speed surpassed the limits of an average human and began to approach Chu Xun's pace. And more alarmingly, his speed kept increasing, as though there was no limit to how fast he could go.
"Shit, what kind of monster is that guy?!" Chu Xun cursed under his breath, running at full speed toward the hospital exit.
The doors were already open, and the electric current on them had disappeared. Not far behind him, he could already hear the rapid, powerful footsteps echoing from the corridor.
Hearing those steps closing in, Chu Xun's expression turned even more grim. Cursing again, he pushed himself harder and dashed out of the hospital.
Once outside, Chu Xun took a deep breath, clenched his fists, and slammed one of them into the electronic lock beside the hospital door.
Crack!
The not-so-sturdy electronic lock shattered under his blow, and a light sound followed from the hospital doors. The heavy doors began to close slowly.
Through the gap between the doors as they closed, Chu Xun clearly saw the black-haired man emerging from a distant corridor, rapidly closing the distance between them.
Boom!
Luckily, just as the man was about to reach the doors, the thick, reinforced hospital gates slammed shut with a loud metallic clang.
At the same time, electric sparks flickered across the surface of the doors. After the brute force of destroying the electronic lock, it was clear the door had been fully sealed.
"That was close..." Seeing the door securely locked, Chu Xun let out a breath of relief.
The electric current on the door was dangerous, and with the solid steel construction, it should be enough to hold back that strange guy, he hoped.
But what happened next quickly shattered his relief.
Crackle, crackle!
The sparks from the door intensified, turning into dazzling flashes of light, as though something was struggling against the electricity.
However, the light quickly began to fade, and the electric crackling gradually grew quieter.
But that wasn't the scariest part. The terrifying part was that, as the electric current diminished, the originally iron-gray hospital door began to shimmer with a silvery sheen, as if it had been coated in silver.
"Shit!" Seeing this, Chu Xun was horrified and immediately stopped to avoid staying any longer. He sprinted faster toward the meeting point.
Behind him, the massive steel doors began to melt, turning into liquid silver, and within the liquid, the blurred face of an Asian man could be seen. His dull eyes were fixated on Chu Xun, with a faint red glow visible in them.
...
"Bad luck... This is just bad luck!" Chu Xun wailed inwardly as he ran. He didn't know what kind of disaster he had stumbled into, but every enemy he encountered seemed to be stronger than the last. If it weren't for his own strength and quick reflexes, he would probably be dead by now.
Especially when he arrived at the meeting point and saw that Chu Hang and the others were already waiting for him with two large transport trucks, he couldn't help but feel speechless.
The trucks were filled with various strategic supplies, clearly showing that Chu Hang and the others had successfully located the supply warehouse and retrieved everything.
"You look like you're in trouble—encountered an enemy?" Chu Hang noticed Chu Xun's disheveled state, and his previously relaxed expression immediately shifted to one of seriousness.
After fighting together before, they had a rough understanding of Chu Xun's strength. For an enemy to push Chu Xun into such a state, it was clear that even if they teamed up, they'd have a tough time handling it.
Don't forget, Chu Xun still had an alien creature helping him fight!
"Shit, we've encountered a monster!" Chu Xun didn't have time to explain further, so he leapt onto one of the trucks and shouted, his face grim. "Start the engine!"
"Goddammit, is there some unknown monster in this control base?" Vincent, though puzzled, knew there was no time for questions. He immediately started the truck and accelerated to leave.
Screech, screech!
The massive transport truck's 16 wheels screeched against the ground as it shot forward at full speed. The seven-meter-long vehicle, resembling a steel beast, sped away toward the designated exit, leaving deep tire marks on the ground.
"What exactly did you run into?" Vincent asked, his face filled with concern as he drove.
In the post-apocalyptic world, unexpected dangers were a constant, so when he heard Chu Xun had encountered a strong enemy, he didn't hesitate to drive away. Still, he was curious to know what kind of terrifying foe could make Chu Xun abandon any thought of fighting and just focus on escaping.
"Shit, I don't even know what kind of monster it is..." Chu Xun responded helplessly. Honestly, he hadn't fought the black-haired man, so he had no idea of the man's true strength.
But from the moment he laid eyes on the man, his intuition screamed that if he fought him, he would die—no doubt about it.
Ever since fusing with the alien genes, Chu Xun's instincts had become much sharper. His instincts had saved him many times before, so this time, without hesitation, he trusted them and ran.
And as it turned out, his choice was absolutely the right one.
Boom!
Just as Chu Xun was talking with Vincent, a sudden, violent explosion echoed from behind them. A black-haired man, completely naked, shot out from a street and collided with an abandoned military vehicle, sending it flying in an instant. He then quickly charged toward them.
Seeing the military vehicle being sent flying and smashed into pieces, the expressions of Vincent and the others immediately turned grim.
That vehicle weighed at least a ton, yet it was sent flying like a twig, unable to stop the black-haired man for even half a second. This demonstrated the terrifying strength of the man.
And with that terrifying strength, came an equally terrifying body. Vincent and the others had excellent vision, and they clearly saw that when the man collided with the vehicle, the skin on his body didn't even show any signs of deformation—he seemed untouched by the force.
The black-haired man's strength had to be monstrous. The impact didn't cause a single dent or deformation on his skin, which meant his body had been strengthened to an unimaginable level.
"Shit, shit, shit, where the hell did this monster come from?!" Chu Hang couldn't help but shout, watching the black-haired man—a human tank—barrel through everything in his path and accelerate toward them. "Yang Ling, speed up!"
"We're already at full speed, any faster and we'll flip!" Yang Ling frowned. The truck was loaded with over ten tons of supplies. With such a heavy load, if they went any faster, they'd risk flipping the vehicle due to inertia.
But Chu Hang was right—the black-haired man was getting faster, and at this rate, it wouldn't be long before he caught up.
"Chu Hang, you drive! I'm getting that thing out!" Yang Ling's eyes flashed with determination. "I don't believe that even that thing can't stop him!"
"Shit, you really plan to use it?" Chu Hang was shocked. "Wasn't that thing supposed to be saved for the Tyrant Elite? What do we do if we use it now?"
"If that guy catches up with us, we won't need to worry about later!" Yang Ling shook his head, taking a deep breath. "I analyzed it just now—his strength and defense are way beyond what the Tyrant Elite can handle, not to mention his terrifying speed. If we don't use it now, we're dead!"
With that, Yang Ling let go of the steering wheel, flipped himself out of the seat, and began climbing toward the rear storage compartment.
"Shit!" Seeing Yang Ling acting so decisively, Chu Hang could only curse under his breath and took the wheel, continuing to drive.
"Why does this feeling seem so... familiar?" Meanwhile, Chu Xun's face darkened as he watched the black-haired man drawing closer, his left hand pressing heavily against his chest.
It felt as though some force within him was resonating with the black-haired man, causing his heartbeat to quicken!
