Enneth was lying on the ground and when he suddenly regained consciousness. He struggled to stand up and barely managed.
He immediately realized the airship had crashed into the ground and rushed to exit outside.
Enneth was amazed. All his life, he had lived in the skies and had never seen the outside world from the ground.
Enneth thought to himself, How did I survive this airship crash, falling from thirty-five thousand feet up from the sky?
He also wondered, Why didn't the creature kill me when it had the chance?
Many questions remained unknown to him.
Enneth suddenly realized something and trembled.
He saw the other fallen airships and quickly ran to check on the others. He checked each wreckage, but all he saw were corpses.
He was alone on the ground. No one but him.
Alone…
He thought to himself, How am I supposed to survive this all by myself?
He walked out of the airship and collapsed onto the ground.
For the first time in his life, he felt fear—alone on the ground with demonic beasts, possibly the only human left.
Enneth fell into a depressive state, not knowing what to do.
What's the point of me living? I might as well end it. I'm going to be killed by these merciless beasts anyway, he thought.
He started laughing in agony and curled into a ball.
Enneth then stood up and started walking toward a forest nearby in a mindless state.
He made so much noise that he might have attracted some beasts. But as he wandered deeper into the forest, he saw a blade lying on the ground.
Enneth picked up the blade and instantly froze.
In that moment, he gained all the knowledge needed to wield the weapon.
The blade retained its jagged obsidian structure but was honed for absolute penetration, allowing it to pierce through any material without resistance. The crimson veins remained, pulsing subtly as a visual cue to its power, but their function was purely aesthetic. Worn leather wrapped around the hilt, encasing a brass pressure chamber, which exhaled wisps of steam that curled like phantom smoke. The steam system played a pivotal role, acting as a propulsion mechanism. The moment it made contact with a foe, pressurized bursts of steam ejected from the chamber, accelerating the blade's thrust and ensuring each strike landed with devastating speed.
Energy surged through Enneth—he felt awakened, stronger, faster, and more agile.
Enneth slit his right eyelid shut since he was eyeless on that side.
Now, with this newfound power, he felt obligated to destroy all the beasts in the entire earth.
"I'm going to fucking retake this world and slaughter all you bastards—for the people in the airship and for my family!" he shouted in rage.
His aura attracted all the beasts on the ground, and soon, he would be in great danger.
