"You're trying to say I'm not Davina again, aren't you?"
I tilted my head slightly, watching Jasper. Did he really see through me? How?
Jasper withdrew his gaze, choosing not to answer my question. He continued walking forward, his demeanor composed, like someone who had seen through all the dust of the mortal world.
It reminded me of an old monk I once met during a mission in my world, hidden away in a mountain temple. He had looked at me with the same clarity in his eyes and told me I didn't belong there.
But I was born and raised in that world. If I didn't belong there, then where else?
We walked in silence until we turned into another corridor. Jasper's voice echoed in a deep, solemn tone, like it was descending from the heavens.
"Davina is a pitiful soul, led astray by demons and darkness."
A pitiful soul? Would he still say that if he saw her reduce this holy sanctuary to ashes?
"So you're implying I'm the demon?"
"You are not a demon."
