Chapter 22 - Ceaseless Circle (10)

"I will fight you to the death, mongrel. I will be taking you with me to the grave."

As Dorian uttered those words, he seemed to have abandoned all caution and reason. He rushed towards me like a Madman, mimicking the way I fought earlier, albeit in a more crude manner and more aggressively.

I smirked, thrilled and amused by this sudden change.

"Finally getting brave, huh? We will see who's gonna be put inside a grave."

Then, I rushed forward as well, meeting his feral attacks with my own. Exchanging blows. I have gotten pretty used to fighting with one hand now, but it was still difficult.

But of course, im not an idiot that fights fairly. I still had innate spirit to spare. Alot of it, actually. So, during the clash, I had [Probability Pryer] active, allowing me to dodge more lethal attacks and atleast block attacks that I wasn't able to dodge.

Unfortunately though, we have spent too long fighting and Dorian has started to adapt to it. He has long realized that I had some sort of ability to predict the future, even being unpredictable was of no use, so he just abandoned trying to counter it and relied on nothing but dumb luck.

And it was working, somewhat.

He was attacking me without any concern for his own safety. Someone like that is dangerous for a very obvious reason. They lack self-preservation and when someone lacks it, it's easy to be overwhelmed by their sheer will and killing intent. Also fear is one of the emotions that decides fights, perhaps the most important emotion. When someone fights without it, without fear and nothing but malicious killing intent. They become a walking calamity.

Still, I didn't care.

Once again, I activated [The Zone]. This time, I plan on staying in this state for the rest of the fight. Even I can fight without fear too. I can fight like a feral animal too. I can be a walking calamity too. Even better than you, Dorian. You are just a cheap copy.

A kick to the side of his skull, but Dorian blocked it using his arm. But it was fruitless. My physical strength was at an absurd level. After all, all this fighting counted as training and it's being enhanced by 15 levels while in [The Zone] So my kick managed to crush his arm with ease, hitting the side of his head brutally.

He stumbled to the side, a pained moan escaping his lips, his eyes widening in an unhinged manner.

"Die....just die...."

I raised an eyebrow.

'Is his curse acting up?'

Well, that made sense. He can be overwhelmed emotions, that includes hatred. The hatred he feels for me seems to be stronger than his own will to live. Honestly, it's admirable. Even while in [The Zone] I wouldn't be that dedicated to holding a grudge. Dorian is next level when it comes to seeking vengeance.

Once again, he was running forward. I saw what was gonna happen. A punch to my side, for sure. So, I raised my remaining arm to block it, planning to capture it. Indeed, it happend as I saw it. I blocked it and attempted to grasp onto the wrist, but something happend as I did so.

Dorian, with his other hand, grabbed the collar of my torn tunic and pulled me close. This whole time, he hasn't fully really taken advantage of the fact that I only had one arm. But now, while in a frenzy, he has done it.

"A headbutt, 100%...."

'Fuck!'

There was no dodging or blocking this. I'll just have to headbutt him, while he headbutts me. Roughly pulling my body towards him, his head leaned forward, our foreheads touched in a brutal crash. I felt something inside my head crack, the force leaving me momentarily dizzy.

Dorian had already recovered. He seemed to have experience with it. Before I could return back to my senses, he punched me square in the face. My nose broke, profusely bleeding. But he didn't stop there. Another punch, this time to my gut. Then, he grabbed my head, placing his palms behind it, then kneed me in the face.

It was so painful.

But it felt so good.

"That's it...."

My smile widened, showing my bloodied mouth and the broken teeth. It was a terrifying and disgusting sight that made Dorian freeze for a moment, but then his composure returned just as quickly as it had vanished.

"You are weird."

He said simply, before upper-cutting my jaw, blood escaping from my lips. I stumbled back, but he didn't even give me time to relax. He was already upon me, pinning me down to the ground, straddling my hips.

Punch after punch hit my face, breaking almost every bone left in my face. Anyone else would of passed out by now, but me? I was filled with resolve to see this through and kill Dorian. Such killing intent, mixed with pure Madness from my blessing kept me conscious.

Enduring the brutal punches, I reached up and grabbed Dorian's neck in a chokehold. It surprised him and that momentary surprise was enough for me. I kicked him in the crotch, causing him to yelp in pain and loosen his grip on me. Immediately after, I kicked him again, this time in the face.

"Die!!"

I exclaimed, pouncing on him. It was almost like we were cuddling, but in reality, we were trying to kill each other. His snails scratched against my skin, while I bit his neck, my hard teeth biting out some of his skin, leaving a gaping wound behind. I began tearing away skin after skin of his using nothing but my teeth, eating him away like an animal.

Dorian screamed, but he started doing the same thing, eating away my mangled flesh, using his teeth. Wounds upon wounds appeared on my abused my body. It was at the point where I have grown numb to the pain. All I felt was just an intense desire to kill Dorian. That's all I felt at the moment.

We rolled on the grass, fighting for dominance, while eating each other out. Eventually though, Dorian had enough and pushed me away by retaliating, kicking me in the crotch. I gasped and stumbled back, staring at the standing up Dorian in anger.

He could barely even accomplish such a simple task. Dorian stood up on wobbly legs. He had lost an arm. I tore the flesh connecting it away, severing it completely. His eyes were blood red as well and his face was terribly mangled. Looking at him, nobody would of realized he was a human. He looked more like a monster, a corpse close to a skeleton.

Of course, I looked nothing better. Most of my tunic was pretty much torn. My bleeding stump of an arm had re-opended and was blessing again. If this lasted any longer, I'll bleed out to death. My nose was dislocated, one of my earlobes was missing and there was deep wounds all over my body from that ruthless assault I endured.

Spitting out a broken tooth, I grinned at him.

"Let's see who will bleed out first."

Then, I paused and added."

"Oh and by the way, my name is Morgan."

Dorian stared at me for a few seconds, then laughed.

"Mongrel, you had a name? Who would of thought? But since we are exchanging pleasantries. My name is Dorian."

I chuckled.

"Dorian, huh? I already knew, but hearing it again made me realize just how ridiculously stupid that name sounds. Whoever named you needs to be locked up."

Dorian didn't seem bothered, almost like he was used to the provocations now.

"Still trying to anger me, I see. Ran out of more cunning tricks than that?"

I shrugged.

"Maybe. All that's left is brutally murdering you using my own two hands."

Then, without needing to say anything else, I took a difficult step forward. My body was feeling weaken and my mind was feeling light-headed. Despite this, I kept [The Zone] active. I need to stack up Fury for a final attack that will surely destroy this bastard.

Dorian also took a step forward. Even he seemed to be formulating a plan to deal with me, even though it may appear that he has lost his mind, he was still lucid in there. Albeit, just barely. But that's enough for rational thought. So, I'll have to watch out for any schemes he may pull through.

A moment later, he spoke again. A tinge of reluctant respect in them.

"You have been a very formidable foe, Morgan."

I smiled.

"You have been a formidable foe as well, Dorian."

After that, we were on each other once more. Attacking each other ruthlessly, using our fists, legs and teeth. We looked more like two corpses that has risen from the death fighting. That's how badly we were injured, but I didn't feel anything but a burning desire to be the last one standing. It was so strong that I didn't think of anything else, consequences of this be damned.

After several exchanges of blows, we punched each other in the face, stumbling back. But then a moment later, we were on each other again. Punching, kicking, eating and tearing each other apart. It was a brutal display. Flesh was piling up on the ground, our clothes were being torn and the bleeding was growing more pronounced with each second.

I can feel my body growing weaker, my mind becoming even more light-headed, a growing desire to just stop, fall and take a nap eating away my brain. But the adrenaline and [The Zone]'s effects kept me running. At some point in the fight, I had even turned off [Probability Pryer] as it was taking up too much Innate spirit and I was currently running quite low on it.

After another round of exchanges, I found the perfect opportunity. I kicked him right on the shin, making him stumble. Then, I jumped on him and pinned him to the ground, straddling him. Without any hesitation, I started punching his face over and over again. He tried resisting, punching me back, even kicking my crotch, but I remained firm. He could destroy my dick, but I didn't care. I'll be the last one standing.

I won't stop until I hear the overseer whisper of the kill.

Eventually, I felt his body growing weaker. He couldn't even punch me back properly anymore, his breathing was becoming labored and difficult. I saw tears in his eyes, but I didn't stop.

"Please...."

A punch to the face.

"Mercy....please...."

Another punch.

"I'm sorry...."

Then, I finally charged up my fist with all the stored Fury from that exchange. It was alot. I wasn't in the right state of mind to check, i just knew it was alot because of the overwhelming power i felt inside my fist.

Without any hesitation, I struck Dorian right in the face with that exact fist. The result that left behind was devastating. A loud Shockwave was heard, sending birds fleeing up into the night sky, making the ground shake ever so slightly. But the best part? I heard the overseer—

[You have eliminated Player 1,007,670.]

I looked down and saw what I had done. All that was left behind was just blood where the face should be. Not even bones where left behind from that final punch. Then, I saw light. My eyes blinded for a few seconds, I covered it, but then a smile appeared on my lips.

"The sun is....rising."

A breath I haven't realized I was holding finally escaped me. Standing up on wobbly legs, I looked around. Then suddenly, I screamed violently. The pain....it has finally caught up to my brain. And it wasn't good. It was awful. Now that I was coming down from my Frenzied high, I had just realized that I had practically doomed myself. There is no way for me to survive, unless a healer is nearby.

I sighed.

'I have to see if Isabella is alright, atleast...'

Thus, I began limping where Isabella had run off to lure the wild animals from my fight with Dorian.

I was sitting on a boulder, hugging my knees. My heart was racing. Waiting in anticipation for who will reach me. Will it be Morgan or Dorian? My fate will be decided by who wins that fight. I have placed my faith in Morgan, but I couldn't help but worry. What if he had failed? What if he was dead?

Just as these thoughts appeared in my mind, I suddenly felt a bright light entering my eyes from the horizon. Instinctively covering my eyes, I turned my head and faced it.

"The sun...."

I smiled. For some reason, seeing the sunrise after suffering endlessly throughout the night inside that endless path, fighting Unbound Creatures controlled by a freak I used to know in the real world, made me realize how much I missed the sun. They had spent a full night dealing with Dorian. Now, it's just a matter of time....

I turned my head towards the direction where one of them would appear from. That's where I heard a loud bang, so I'm pretty sure one of them will appear from that direction.

And eventually some did it.

I saw a figure. It was limping towards me. The figure of a male, undoubtedly. His hair was a mess, his body was mangled, tortured and abused, I could even see some of his bones, almost like some wild animal had torn his skin off. He had one arm, the remaining arm barely hold by a few strings of flesh.

At first, I didn't even recognize him. He looked like a corpse. His face was unrecognizable too. But after he stopped and smiled at me. A disgusting smile. I realized who it was.

"Morgan?"

My eyes widened in shock as I watched in collapse to the ground.

'He actually did it.'

Some part of me believed that Morgan would never be able to win that fight, but he had proven me wrong. Yet again. He truly is remarkable. At the same time, I felt a mixture of profound sense of relief and fear at the state he was in.

I didn't waste anymore time and got up, rushing towards him. I knelt down by his side and inspected his wounds.

"Oh, God's.....just what sort of fight did they have?"

I had to resist the urge to vomit. These were disgusting and terrifying wounds, but I held it together. With one hand gently caressing his face, I whispered.

"You deserve a rest."

From my shoulder, I glanced towards where the lake was. Our destination. Even if it may be easy to leave Morgan behind here to die and go for the lake myself, I won't. That would leave a bitter taste in my mouth. After everything he has went through to protect me, I will return the savor.

And with that, the Ceaseless Circle we have been stuck in, ended.
