Chapter 1
Simple life
In a small home on the outskirts of the city lives a tough but handsome looking young man,
His appearance is earned after working hard on a rough job at the construction sites, he lives with his sisters without a parents presence.
The siblings never tasted easy things in their lives, it's all hardships and challenges, for them it's tough but manageable.
"I'm homeeee…"
Sighing, a young man falling to his mattress inside his room, oh maybe i should call it the living room and it is also used as a parlor to receive their guests, if any will come..
'Ahhhhh tomorrow is Sunday, it's good that I'll be able to take a break after so long…
'Hmmm what should I use my time for, ohh right! I haven't follow the updates for my novels and comics, and maybe I can finally do the quest for my games besides doing a daily quest everyday..'
'But before that i should go take some quick shower first, and then eat something'
This young man name is Lucius, he just arrived at his home after finishing his work for this week, it's a long day so he's only able to reach home at 6 PM
While taking shower he's thinking of pampering himself by buying some chicken
It's almost time to get his paycheck and he just remembers that his older sister will come home late and his younger sister still has some extra classes to take until 7 PM
So it's decided that he will buy 3 portions of chicken with some rice on the side for them to eat.
'I should text my sisters, what kind of chicken they want'
After exiting the bathroom, he's getting his set of clean clothes from his sister's bedroom and bringing it back to the bathroom
Why is his clothes inside his sister's room? Well it's because he's doesn't have personal cupboard to store his own clothes
He couldn't let them in a mess on top of his mattress, so his sister let him use the vacant section of their cupboard
Of course the cupboard has 3 different sections with 3 different cupboard doors, and he used the bottom ones.
Getting out of the bathroom fully clothed, Lucius ready to buy the chicken.
'damn i almost forgot to text my sisters, if Eve know that i just buy a chicken without asking her she will be upset for sure'
Taking out his old smartphone from the top of the mattress, he texts his sisters in his family group chat.
*Lucius : Guys I'll buy some chicken for us to eat for dinner, where do you want to buy it from?*
3 minutes later.
*Evelyn : Chicken! Brother Luci please get it from xxx's store, I want the crispy ones, of course the breast cut!, i want more meat anyway, thanks a lot brother! Loves you -3-*
*Lucius : Alright! Do you want something on the side? I have some more money I can use, so don't hold back! It's Saturday night and I want us to have a good quality night!*
*Evelyn : For real brother Luci!? Then please get their signature sauce and 1 set of wings for us to eat! Is.. Is your money enough? I can add some from my leftovers allowance for this week.. *
'As always eve, even though she's still so young but she always mindful of our spending'
'I hope she can help herself some treats when we have more stable money and doesn't always hold back like this… '
*Lucius : Don't worry, I got you covered, btw sister Sophia are you there? *
'She usually dont left us this long without reading the message, did she really busy around this hour?'
'Shouldn't she be preparing to get home? It's almost 7 PM already'
Exactly 7 PM sophia opened the messenger apps and begin typing
'oh there she is'
*Sophia : Luci, are you sure to use your own money for buying chicken? We can use the food expense for that*
Lucius sighing then smiling
'as expected of sister Sophia, she can't have anyone but herself taking the burden, she should let me take care of them'
'I'm already an adult am I not? Even though i don't have a good job that give good paycheck but i don't mind using this money for our happiness'
'I don't need anything to buy anyway besides for paying electricity and home WiFi'
*Lucius : Don't worry sister it's almost time for me to get my next paycheck so just prepare to get home and I'll pick up Eve for you, and at the same time buying the chicken on the way back home*
*Sophia : Thanks Luci, i really appreciate it, then I'll come home in around 50 minutes, my work just finished now, then see you later*
*Lucius : Please be safe on the way home sister*
*Lucius : Eve I'll pick you up, please wait for me, we also will buy the chicken on our way back*
Around 3 minutes later
*Evelyn : Okay brother Luci~ see you soon! *
Lucius immediately get outside, lock the door and start his motorcycle, this motorcycle is an old legacy left by his father and the only ones of their inheritance that are left after his death
More specifically their parents' deaths, it means a lot for him because this very motorcycle is used to pick him up everyday from school and their memories riding it around the town.
Fast forward Lucius arrives at the tutoring center and picks Eve up and buys some chicken on the way back home.
"Okay we're home, please open the door for me Eve here's the key, and also go bring in the fried chicken, i have to park this motorcycle"
While smiling she takes the key from Lucius hand
"Sure brother Luci, there's nothing i can't do for you~"
'That response.. Haha Eve is always able brighten my mood'
Done parked his motorcycle he come inside and go to bathroom to wash his hand and feet
"Eve don't forget to wash your hands, you just come from outside"
"Alright~ brother Luci"
Peeking from the bedroom door she answered.
After washing their hands and feet, they both come inside to the bedroom and sit on the floor
In front of them there's a small round table, the fried chicken still inside the packaging on top of the table ready with the 3 sets of plates and spoons.
They are still waiting for their oldest sister to arrive, then Lucius starts to ask some questions regarding Eve's school progress.
"Eve.. How's your school? Anything good happens?"
Sat across the table Lucius asks her with a curious watch.
"School? All good, I even got an A grade on everything! Ah, Except for mathematics…
"Ughhh why is it always so hard! I just know that they don't teach calculus back in your day for high school students!..
"Why do they make the curriculum this hard for me, emmm so hard that I can't take it though, I am still able to get at least B- for it, I'm doing good right brother?"
Smiling shyly, she expected some nice feedback.
"A for everything!? Wow! As expected of our Brilliant little cupcake! You never let this brother down even for once!, ah B- for math?..
"Don't mind while math is important, getting B won't affect your whole grade for sure, and even i don't think that i ever get B for math haha,
"You can say that you're better than me at studying, I'm really proud of you!"
Lucius never holds back on his compliment for his sister, he also never forgets to smile brightly and pat his sister's head.
Eve.. Always getting pampered with his brother's affection, always expecting a pat from his brother and she actually loves it,
Even though sometimes she refuses when they're in the crowd or together with friends.
They use their waiting time to have more warm conversations, unaware of the time, they suddenly hear their sister's voice from outside.
"Sister Sophia is here! I'll welcome her, brother, you can unpack the chicken~, ah please give me a good cut!"
Even though Eve is sometimes shy about asking for something, she never lets it get between her and her chicken, she just really loves chicken after all.
Just a minute after that Sophia face appear to be looking to the room Lucius sitting on, finding his brother there she immediately smiling
"I'm home Luci, thanks for picking up Eve for me, you should eat your portion and don't mind waiting for me,
"I'll go wash my hand and feet first, I'll join you later"
Lucius returns the greetings and smiles back warmly.
"Welcome home sister, no problem about picking up Eve, i can pick her up everyday if you want, and don't worry sister i prefer us eating together,
"it's more warm that way"
"Alright"
Having nothing to refuse, Sophia immediately hang her jacket, put down her bag,
After washing she joined them in front of the table.
enjoying a nice dinner and having conversations they forgot the time and it's almost 10 PM already, Lucius gets up and takes the dishes and goes to wash them.
"Luci let me do the dishes, you have done a lot, you can count on me for this one"
Sophia immediately got up and tried to get the dishes from Lucius' hand, but he firmly refused the kindness.
"Sister, you already done a lot already at works, i want to give you good rest,
"So please let me do it, it's nothing for me, and you also haven't take your shower, maybe you can take your shower now"
Having used to his sister unlimited kindness Lucius always trying to do anything for his sister,
she's still young but haven't try to get in relationship with a man, he know that his sister really attractive and beautiful,
Her coworkers will never waste a chance to get close to her, but he also knows why she hasn't try to develop her personal relationship with a man,
It's for her brother and sister, she always put herself behind before their needs, that's why Lucius is always trying hard to alleviate her burdens.
Done with dishes Lucius come inside the bedroom and told Eve to not forget to take a shower and brush her teeth.
With everything done he come to his mattress and lay down waiting her sister Sophia coming out from the bathroom,
His fatigue kicked in and he gave out trying to stay awake even though he knew he hadn't brushed his teeth.
15 minutes later Sophia comes out from the bathroom feeling fresh, her hair still wet, she feel that she's too tired to let them dry before sleeping,
She looks at her brother's room and sees that he's sleeping, feeling too bad to wake him up, she gets close to his mattress.
"Good night Luci, have a nice dream"
While smiling she put the blanket for his brother.
Then she gets up and gets inside the bedroom and tells Eve to take a shower.
Hearing her sister's instruction,
Eve wakes up from the bed, take a set of clothing and her towels,
She immediately takes a shower and finishes it quickly, because she also strangely feels too tired and wants to immediately go to sleep.
In 30 minutes everyone is already asleep, time tells that it's almost 12 AM,
In the quiet night Lucius restlessly moving his limbs around, it looks like that he's having a nightmare, and a bad really bad one.
He grows more and more frantic, from moving his body restlessly, then he begins to move and thrashing around the bed.
Sweat coming out from his body, almost like having a marathon, his clothes, blanket and bed soaked in sweat,
Then he begins to make a groaning sound, his expression shows that he's really in hurt,
His face paled, his expression contorted in a really creepy way, it's like he's dying,
Tears also slowly came out of his eyes, foams coming from his mouth, then he screamed..
Screaming like a person having their limbs severed from their bodies.
That night began the start of his tragedy and the loss of his identity.
