The moment Kael's blade hovered by Elsa's neck, the arena was dead silent.
And then.
BOOMING CHEERS.
"THAT'S THREE IN A ROW!"
"Did he really just beat Elsa Sylvenmire?!"
"He's fought three top-rankers and won every time!"
"That sword technique… what even was that?!"
Students in the stands were on their feet, clapping, shouting, and yelling his name like he'd just claimed a national title. Some students looked shocked, others looked envious but all of them noticed.
Kael Vernier was no longer just the "new guy."
Meanwhile, in a sleek dormitory on the highest floor of the academy's eastern wing, a girl watched the match replay from a large crystalline screen. She had sharp crimson eyes and long, jet-black hair tied back in a loose braid.
Her expression remained unreadable until she leaned forward slightly and whispered,
"Interesting…"
From the far end of the room, a figure stepped forward, arms crossed. He had the same piercing red eyes, a taller frame, and short, untamed black hair.
"He's strong enough to match you… maybe even Jin," he said with a calm but firm tone.
The girl didn't turn to him, but her lips curled into the faintest smile.
"Finally. This academy just got more interesting."
The names displayed on the dorm door glowed faintly.
Elira Morvayne — First Year
Vael Morvayne — Second Year
Back in the arena.
Kael lowered his sword, letting the shadow aura fade. He turned without saying much, walking slowly toward the exit tunnel, breaths measured, sweat clinging to his brow. The crowd was still loud, but his mind was already calming.
"Wait."
He turned his head slightly.
Elsa was standing a few feet behind him, her bow strapped to her back, posture proud despite the loss. She wasn't angry. Just… energized.
"That was a great fight," she said, smiling. "But don't think I'm done. I'll be back for more."
Kael paused. Then smirked just a little, just enough for her to notice.
"I'll be waiting," he said coolly, sheathing his sword.
With that, he turned and left through the tunnel, disappearing behind the shadows of the arena walls.
