Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: Return to the Village, Garlic-Nosed Boy!

At dawn.

Border of the Land of Fire.

Mirai Uchiha swiftly flew from an incredible distance, gliding atop swirling specks of gold dust.

Arriving above Konoha's main headquarters, Mirai scattered the gold dust beneath her feet and began descending from the sky.

[Flying Thunder God Technique]!

A low shout.

Mirai's figure vanished into thin air and reappeared inside a room.

She waved her hand, dispelling the Shadow Clone Jutsu. Finding nothing unusual in the clone's memories, Mirai finally deactivated the protective barrier she had set up around the room.

"The current amount of gold dust is more than sufficient. The task of collecting gold dust can temporarily come to an end."

Mirai placed the scroll containing sealed gold dust into her robe, a satisfied expression on her face.

Most areas within the Land of Wind were deserts, rich in abundant deposits of gold dust.

In just two short months, Mirai had already gathered a considerable amount of gold dust—enough to handle tailed beasts with ease.

Additionally…her Magnet Release Kekkei Genkai was indeed very convenient.

Besides providing tremendous defensive capabilities and wide-ranging offensive techniques, it also granted Mirai the ability to fly at high altitudes for extended periods.

In the ninja world, flight abilities were extremely rare; most ninja lacked effective means of countering airborne opponents.

In the original storyline, Deidara managed to defeat Gaara alone within Sunagakure precisely because he possessed flight capability, leaving other Sand ninja helpless during battle.

Her repeated evasion of Sunagakure's attacks was also due to this aerial advantage—each night, she could spot enemy ambushes from above, skillfully maneuvering around their main forces in battle.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

A knocking sound came from outside the door. Mirai tidied up her clothes and opened it to reveal Kurenai Yuhi's chubby little face.

"Red, what's got you so happy?" Mirai asked curiously.

"Mirai, we received news from the village. We're heading back today," Kurenai said excitedly.

"Back?"

"Yes, according to Shikaku Nara, frontline ninja are permitted to return home for rest every two months."

Here, every day meant killing and death.

Without enough time to rest, people eventually go mad.

"I see."

"Then let's go."

Although each day brought rewards through defeating enemies, after such a long time, mentally she really did feel exhausted.

Going back to relax and get a change of pace might be just what I need.

They reached the tent where Minato Namikaze, Shizuka Yuhi, Obito Uchiha, Asuma Sarutobi, and others were already gathered.

Seeing the two walk in, Shikaku Nara smiled and said, "Everyone has worked hard lately. I'll report your performance at the frontline to the Hokage accurately."

"Especially Mirai Uchiha..." Shikaku's gaze settled on Mirai Uchiha.

"You've definitely contributed greatly."

Even if not for the many Sand ninja Mirai had killed, his effort in luring hundreds of enemy forces into Konoha's ambush by using himself as bait alone counted as a major achievement.

Hearing Shikaku's words, Asuma Sarutobi, Obito Uchiha, Kurenai Yuhi, and others felt somewhat surreal.

Someone who had graduated from the ninja academy at the same time as them had now become a skilled ninja capable of completing missions independently.

As for themselves...

Better left unsaid.

...

Hidden Leaf Village.

Gazing at the bustling buildings and busy streets, Mirai Uchiha's group all wore relaxed smiles.

Compared to the frontline, this place was practically paradise.

The tension they had carried finally eased completely.

"Mirai, you guys go ahead first. We'll have dinner together tonight," Shizuka Yuhi said.

As their team leader, he still needed to report the mission details to the Third Hokage.

"I'm heading back first. See you tonight, Mirai!" Kurenai Yuhi waved at Mirai Uchiha.

After spending so long at the frontline, she finally had the chance to take good care of herself.

Asuma Sarutobi nodded briefly at Mirai Uchiha before walking off quickly.

Once everyone had left, Mirai Uchiha walked alone through Konoha's streets, feeling somewhat bored.

Although Konoha was considered the most prosperous among ninja villages, to him—as someone from another world—it was nothing more than a slightly larger town.

Arriving at a dessert shop, Mirai Uchiha ordered several sticks of Three Coloured Pills.

Just as he sat down, he noticed a boy entering wearing Uchiha clan attire.

The boy had a snub nose and large eyes—not the usual handsome features seen among Uchiha—but his appearance gave off a kind, straightforward vibe.

"Two sticks of Three Coloured Pills, please."

"Thank you!"

He politely accepted the two sticks of sweets from the shopkeeper and looked around. Spotting a table with someone already seated, he approached to join.

But no sooner had he sat down than the villager eating there immediately got up and left with his food.

The boy continued looking for another seat. The same thing happened three times in a row.

Sighing helplessly, he chose an empty spot and sat down alone.

He had long since stopped counting how many times this had happened. No matter how friendly he was, villagers always kept their distance.

Plop!

Looking at the plate placed before him, the boy lifted his head in surprise. But when he noticed the other person wore the same standard shinobi uniform, his eyes dimmed with mild disappointment.

"What's your name?"

Mirai Uchiha asked the boy who seemed vaguely familiar.

The boy answered hesitantly, "Shisui Uchiha."

Hearing this, Mirai showed slight astonishment.

He never expected to meet Shisui Uchiha here.

This was the bearer of the Mangekyo Sharingan—the wielder of Kotoamatsukami, the most powerful genjutsum known.

Even when measured against Itachi Uchiha, Shisui's talent was equally formidable.

Unfortunately… he was ambushed by Danzo Shimura and ultimately chose to leap from a cliff to protect his eye.

"Who are you?"

Noticing the teenager staring intently at him, Mirai spoke in confusion, detecting no hostile intent.

"Mirai Uchiha."

"Eh? You're Senior Mirai?"

Shisui opened his eyes wide in surprise.

As a member of the Uchiha Clan, Shisui was well aware of what Senior Mirai had accomplished at the frontline over the past two months.

Unlike others who were captivated solely by Mirai's strength and talent, Shisui deeply admired how he selflessly risked his life to shield his comrades during life-or-death moments.

Such selfless dedication embodied the very essence of the Will of Fire.

"Senior Mirai, please guide me!" Shisui stood up respectfully and bowed.

Looking at Shisui, a thought crossed Mirai's mind.

At this young age, Shisui hadn't yet formed his own worldview.

If properly influenced, he might become a reliable assistant.

A faint smile formed on Mirai's lips. "It's an honor. I hope we can work together."
