Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Hero is Doing Alchemy!

Esebelle and Jeremy are currently standing guard at the Western Gate, awaiting a large shipment coming from the Nation of Alabahardren, more specifically, a Merchant Caravan.

Jeremy: So... Esebelle, it's been a while since I've last seen you. Where have you been?

Esebelle: Jeremy. I hate you, you jinxed it.

Jeremy looked at Esebelle with a confused expression.

Jeremy: Jinxed what?

Esebelle gave him a side eye, not finding him playing dumb funny.

Esebelle: You said that the Emperor wouldn't let me get away from the Creep because following him is a punishment. When I confronted the Emperor, he said exactly that. Accompanying him is a punishment and I can't back out.

Jeremy: It was Todd who jinxed it, not me, but ok.

Esebelle looked at Jeremy with a doubtful look, thought about it, then remembered that he's right.

Esebelle: I accused you of it, so it's your fault anyways.

Jeremy: ok then. Are you gonna tell me what happened? Since the roads are empty right now and we have nothing to do.

Esebelle: nothing much, really. All he did was drag me around the country, clearing every bandit camp we came across. Although he didn't pull the stunt he did in the Necromancer cave, at least.

Jeremy: Really? That's it?

Esebelle: Although it was strange that we managed to avoid places full of Magic users. Sure, some of the Bandit hideouts had a mage or two, but none of them were filled with mages.

Jeremy repeated himself.

Jeremy: that was all?

Esebelle: I mean, we never stopped anywhere and I was stuck staying awake for 2 weeks non stop, and he kept collecting plants and mushrooms and-... He was basically being a hoarder for everything, as well as making me carry everything. The only stops we made were at the nearest cities, villages, towns, etc to sell all the weapons and armor he collected. By the way, I didn't get a single coin of that stuff. Nothing, free Labor, basically.

When Esebelle finished talking, she noticed that Jeremy was looking at her with a strange expression, as if he was looking at a strange creature he has never seen before. Esebelle noticed and tilted her head, wondering what's with the strange look.

Jeremy: What's wrong with you?

Esebelle: What do you mean?

Jeremy: You're not angry like usual. You were talking about all the ways that the guy took advantage of you and there wasn't a hint of anger in your voice.

Esebelle: Yeah? So?

Jeremy took a few steps closer to Esebelle, Even ripping her helmet off to get a look at her face.

The action caused Esebelle to gasp in surprise, her face skin now a tint of red thanks to blush, her shoulder length dirty blonde hair getting in her face a little and her big eyes wide with shock.

Jeremy Kept his helmet on, but he was getting close to Esebelle, as if examining her face, Esebelle couldn't tell what he was doing, so she just stood there, silently waiting for him to finish.

After a good minute, Jeremy backed up and pulled his sword out, which caught Esebelle off guard even more.

Esebelle: Whoa, Whoa! What do you think you're doing?!

Jeremy: You're not the Real Esebelle! Where is the real one!

She put her hands up in surrender.

Esebelle: What are you talking about? I am the real Esebelle!

Jeremy: No! The real Esebelle is-

Keith: Right in front of you.

Keiths sudden appearance and chiming in caught both of them by surprise. Keith was leaning against the wall near where Jeremy was originally standing.

Jeremy: Keith, how can you be so certain?

Keith: *Sigh* Esebelle, you see what happens? You spend most of your life being violent, confrontational and unpredictable, that the second you show any signs of being passive or docile, people are gonna start thinking you're an imposter.

Esebelle looked at Keith with an annoyed Expression, then looked at Jeremy with an expression of violence.

Esebelle: So you all view me as an angry ball of violence who is constantly beating people?

Both Keith and Jeremy immediately responded "Yes" with zero hesitation. Jeremy put his sword back in its sheath.

Keith: Esebelle, I warned you when you were a little girl. You need to be tough, but not too tough. Now everyone views you as a brute.

Jeremy was caught off guard by that statement.

Jeremy: Wait? You gave her advice when she was a little girl? How old are you?

Esebelle: Yeah, you are no different now than you were when I was a little girl, I've always wondered how old you are.

Keith laughed at the question.

Keith: I'm not answering that.

Jeremy: Fine, but why are you here anyways?

Keith: I'm here to rob the Caravan you're waiting for. I'm also here to tell you that the Hero spent a lot of time in front of an Alchemy set and he might be planning something soon.

Esebelle and Jeremy were completely unphased by Keith's admittance to planning a crime, but they were intrigued by his claim that the Hero was doing Alchemy.

Jeremy: Alchemy? Esebelle, Didn't you say he was collecting Plants and mushrooms the entire time you were traveling with him?

Esebelle: Yeah. He made me carry all the stuff he was hoarding and the plants, he specifically took all of that away from me when we parted ways.

Jeremy: Keith, do you have any idea what kind of stuff he was making with the Alchemy ingredients?

Keith: Nope. No clue. I am actually pretty terrible at Alchemy. I only know the most basic recipe and even that is something I manage to screw up.

Jeremy: Speaking of... Isn't that him over there?

Jeremy pointed in the distance, in an empty field next to the road leading to the city, and in that field was the Hero.

The Hero upgraded from crappy chainmail and a broken sword to crappy iron armor and a less broken but still broken sword.

Jeremy: Esebelle, didn't you say he was being a hoarder with weapons and armor?

He asked while looking at the Heros new gear.

Esebelle: Yeah, why?

Jeremy: Surely all of the stuff he looted was better than what he's wearing now, or at least in better condition, right?

Esebelle: Yeah, everything he hoarded was in better condition, but he sold everything except for what he was already using. So I'm honestly not even sure where he got the stuff he has now. He was still wearing the Chainmail last I saw him.

Jeremy: I see...

The three of them watched the Hero. Soon, he pulled out two potions, one was dark red and in a really tall bottle, one could mistake it for wine thanks to the bottle it's in. The Hero took a sip of it, drinking about 4% of the bottle and putting it away.

He then opened the other bottle, a light green liquid that nobody recognizes. He drank that entire bottle and his aura changed slightly.

After a few seconds, the Hero Jumped. And by "Jumped", he vanished. Disappeared. Went into space. He jumped up to the clouds Jeremy, Esebelle, and Keith could only look in confusion at the spot the Hero was originally standing.

From their perspective, however. The Hero Teleported, not jumped. They didn't see him go into the sky, all they saw was him vanishing.

Jeremy: Where did he go?

Esebelle: It looked like he teleported...

Jeremy: But... He drank two potions. He took a sip out of the big one and drank the entire other one.

Esebelle: I heard that Green Potions are usually physical based. Red heals, blue is Mana, and Green is usually a type of physical enhancement

Keith: No. The poisons I use are green. How is drinking poison a physical enhancement?

Esebelle: Poisons are green as well... Then what was that green potion he drank?

As they were talking, the Hero came falling from the sky like a meteor, crashing into the ground with a painful sounding crunch.

Jeremy, Esebelle and Keith all thought that the Hero was dead. Even if he was a hero, how is he gonna survive that fall? So he must be dead.

But slowly, Slowly the Heros body started glowing faintly and repairing itself. If you are quiet enough, you can even hear the bones fuse themselves back into their original places.

The 3 of them watched in horror as the Heros body repaired itself and he slowly got off the ground, standing again.

Keith: I wasn't lying when I said I don't know Alchemy, but I think I have a guess on what those potions were.

Jeremy: Uh-huh...

Jeremy's eyes never left the Hero, absolutely stunned that he was able to not die.

But before he could get over that stun, something even more unexpected happened.

A Wyvern suddenly landed in the field, more like Cradhed into the field, but a Wyvern was clumsily getting up and staring the Hero down with hatred in its eyes.

Wyvern: You stupid humans love to test your luck, don't you?

Hero: *Mouth Breathing*

The Wyvern looked at the Hero, it doesn't have the proper face muscles, but from what it does have, you can tell its looking at the Hero with confusion.

Wyvern: Looks like you took that hit worst than me.

The Wyvern said, unaware that the Heros current actions are normal for him.

Esebelle suddenly took a few steps closer, she's always been one of the braver ones, so it's not strange that she's willing to approach a Wild Wyvern with no fear. Jeremy is still caught off guard by it, but it's technically not strange.

The Wyverns beady little eyes landed on Esebelle, she didn't get so close as to cause wariness, in fact, she was still on the road while the Wyvern was in the middle of a field, but her approaching still caught its attention.

Esebelle: Uhm. May I ask what happened between you two?.

The Wyvern was surprised. It's used to Mortals and humans being terrified of it, running away in fear, yet this woman approached it and the strange guy was showing no fear either. It decided to entertain the human woman's question anyways.

Wyvern: I was up in the sky, flying, minding my own business, then that man over there suddenly came flying upwards and hit me in the jaw. If I was a human like you, half of my teeth would be gone from that hit... Half of my teeth were gone, but regeneration brought them back. So I'm here to settle things with the human. Are you planning to get in my way?

Esebelle: No. As long as you don't damage the city, it's walls or any other people, then we won't care.

Jeremy looked at her in shock, shocked that she was gonna let the Hero die and not do anything.

Wyvern: Very well...

While the Wyverns attention was on Esebelle, the Hero suddenly pulled out 3 more potions. Two green ones and one that was an ominous purple. Everyone except the Wyvern noticed, but the Wyvern soon noticed when it saw everyone looking at the Hero.

It seemed to know what the purple potion was, and even Keith had an idea on what it was. Only Jeremy and Esebelle were clueless.

Jeremy: Keith, any idea on what the ominous Purple potion is?...

Keith: Yeah. I got an idea... Pretty sure it's an evil potion.

Jeremy looked at Keith with a side eye, not finding the answer funny.

Jeremy: That's obvious, but do you know what it does?

Keith: In Brokeback Mountain City, there are a decent amount of mages and magic users. Necromancers, Witches, Illusion mages, and so on, the Necromancers and Witches are the ones who'd usually have a potion similar to what he has. I've never seen them use it, but they all have one and I've seen them with one.

While they were talking, The Wyvern narrowed its eyes, the Hero drank the ominous purple potion first.

At first, he didn't seem any different, he wasn't mouth breathing anymore, but he didn't seem different.

But then, a surge of Mana suddenly erupted from his body, pushing Esebelle back several steps, despite the over 30 meter distance between them. The Wyvern was much closer, about 15 meters away, but it didn't even flinch under the explosion, not even closing its eyes.

The Hero was now levitating slightly off the ground, his eyes glowing light purple and waves of purple energy flowing off of him.

He slowly pointed his hand in the sky, creating a light ball of purple energy from his finger, which softly exploded, coating the entire ground within a 50 meter radius in purple energy.

Jeremy, Esebelle and Keith were all clueless on what happened. The assumed the potion was a power increase within magic, the Wyvern seemed just as clueless as well.

After a moment, the ground started to shake and rumble, but suddenly, several skeletons erupted from underneath the ground. Skeletons of all sorts, Humans, Elves, Beast races, Animals, even a Dragon skeleton erupted from the ground.

The Wyverns eyes narrowed again as several Skeletons of many different types surrounded it.

Wyvern: I see... You drank a potion that would raise the corpses of every being that died here since the land became inhabitable for you mortals...

The Hero didn't respond, Simply pointing its finger at the Wyvern, all of the Skeletons immediately bolted towards the Wyvern. Slashing it with swords and axes that are so old, they shatter in one hit. The Wyvern didn't seem concerned at all, simply rotating its body to do a tail swipe on all of them. It seemed more concerned with the Dragon Skeleton that was raised as well.

Wyverns and Dragons have a complicated history. Dragons came first, then Wyverns. Dragons were considered Good while Wyverns considered bad, Although it's kinda true, in history, Demons would always copy the gods and "Ruin" what the created.

The Gods created Dragons to be benevolent, Prideful creatures who would step down and protect the Light Elves, the only Humanoid race at the time. While the Demons copied them and created Dark Elves and Wyverns.

Dragons May have been benevolent to Light Elves and even the other humanoids races that came afterwards, but they were always condescending and arrogant when interacting with Wyverns. This Dragon skeleton in particular doesn't remind the Wyvern of any that he personally knew, but he never liked Dragons even when dead.

While the Wyvern was eyeing the skeleton of the Dragon, paying little attention to the other skeletons, the Hero drank the other two potions that he pulled out.

His body didnt seem any different after drinking those two potions, and the Wyvern didn't notice either. The Hero didn't do anything until the Wyvern looked at him again, then, after a few seconds. The Hero was gone again.

The Wyvern blinked, the Hero was still gone, but the second time it blinked, the Hero was right in front of him, swinging his left fist at the side of the Wyverns head.

The Heros arm managed to go through the Wyverns head, killing it in one hit, shattering it's skull and brain matter everywhere, its body Jolted to the right and went limp. A Wyvern dead in a single hit.

Keep in mind that Wyverns tend to be defense oriented. Drqgons are offensive with very powerful breath attacks and magic while Wyverns have incredibly tough bones and Scales. The walls surrounding the City of Bordercross are about 10 meters thick and 100% Stone and magic. The amount of power needed to punch straight through those walls and to the other side is no more difficult than shattering the bones of a Wyvern.

The fact that the Hero was able to punch through a Wyverns skull and shatter it is only evidence that his Alchemy skills are second to none.

Keith: if i didnt literally watch him make those potions, then id assume he bought them from Boldric.

What the Hero did next was just as shocking. He raised his hand again, created a dark purple ball of Mana in his hand, and that ball suddenly turned into a vacuum. Sucking in all of the skeletons around him. The humanoids had almost no resistance and were sucked in immediately, the Dragon Skeleton didn't budge at first, but once the Wyvern corpse started to get sucked in and the Vacuum got stronger, the Dragon Skeleton started to lose its resistance.

In the span of 2 minutes, every single skeleton in the area was sucked into the Vacuum. Once the area was clear, the Purple Vacuum ball solidified, becoming no different than a regular ball.

The Hero then pulled out the big potion he took a sip out of at the beginning and drank half of it in one go. He then ate the Purple ball of energy he just used. His Mana running even more rampant and his muscles tensing violently, veins bulging out everywhere and glowing purple.

Suddenly, the Heros body turned into a dark red cloud, a *Poof* Sound preceding the cloud.

Jeremy had his jaw dropped and eyes wide ever since the Wyvern was killed, but his helmet hid that perfectly. His face didnt change at all even after this, just wide eyes and Jaw dropped.

Esebelle had the same expression, but she had no helmet to hide it as she never put it back on.

Keith seemed a bit more composed, but his hood was up and mask was up, so even if he was shocked, you can't tell.

The Heros red cloud suddenly started to solidify and slowly rebuild his body and before long, the Hero was standing again. His visible Muscles seemed bigger and more defined, but aside from that, he seemed no different than what the guards are familiar with.

After a few moments, the Hero pulled out more potions and started using them like nothing happened.

Jeremy, Esebelle and Keith were even more shocked at this action. He summoned ancient skeletons from the ground, killed a Wyvern in 1 punch, absorbed all the Skeletons and the Wyvern to seemingly make himself stronger, thrn exploded into a blood cloud and he was gonna move on like nothing happened. Esebelle wanted to say something, but decided against it, abandoning her post of guarding the gate and going into the city.

...

Coffee/Tea break for the Readers!

Some background on God's and Demons. At the very beginning of time, there was just the Dieties. All floating around in pitch black nothingness. Doing nothing. There was 1 Group of these Dieties who were perfectly fine and happy floating around in eternal darkness and nothingness for eternity. The Second Group was bored and wanted to do things. Not just float around forever.

The Second Group complained and Complained and Complained about boredom to the first group, the first Group responded to their complaining with "You're not doing it right. You wouldn't be complaining if you were doing it correctly."

The second group couldn't comprehend what the first group said "Do what right?!" They cried out, but with no answer.

To try and deal with their boredom, the Second Group created a game they called "Hot Potato". They would create massive balls of fire and throw them at each other, catching the balls and throwing them back. These balls were absolutely massive, spanning several million Kilometers in diameter and were hot enough to suffocate the surrounding area. Not that the Dieties needed oxygen, but that doesn't mean they didn't notice it.

After a few decades, the second Group got bored of playing among themselves and tried to invite the first group to play with them.

"Can't you see, I'm busy here!" One of the first group Dieties shouted, "Busy doing what?" The Second Group shouted in response. The Diety they were around was one named "Esphaun", they were one of the bigger Dieties among both groups, bigger than even the massive balls of fire that the second group played with.

The Second Group only saw Esphaun floating there. Doing absolutely nothing, so they decided to throw one of the massive balls of fire at him, make him get involved so he can see how fun it is. But Esphaun didn't catch it, he didn't dodge it, he didn't destroy it, it hit him directly in the spot you'd call a face.

Esphaun screamed in agony as his face was ingulfed in flames. Each breath he took sucked in more and more flames which hurt him even more and made him cry out even more. Tears flowed out of his eyes and he used his Mana to make his tears cling to his body, hoping to put out the fire, but instead creating Oceans all over himself that did nothing about the flames searing his body and making his skin stone like and hard.

Esphaun eventually lost consciousness due to the pain. Floating around, basically dead, despite not being dead. No different than before. Except for his body becoming a new home for Elves and Man and Beast races and everything in-between.

If you'd like me to write a 3rd book that contains all of the lore I created for the universe that this book and Mistake Simulator take place in, then go ahead and comment that you'd like that. If I do that, then I'd finish the story above there.

I might do it anyways, I don't know.

Coffee/Tea break is over!

...

Todd was currently patrolling the streets in the Bordercross' market district. Making sure no fights break out if thievery happens.

During his walk, he passed by a stand that is selling jewelry. He spotted a beautiful ring with a rectangular emerald gem on it. He could tell that the ring had an enchantment on it. He couldn't tell what kind of enchantment, but he could tell that there was one.

The person running the stand was a really old woman with a Cane, she was currently sitting down and talking to another customer., so Todd stood patiently for her to finish with her other customers, (While still keeping an eye out for amy potential thieves) so he can ask about the ring.

The old Woman noticed Todd immediately, but didn't say anything until she was done with the other customers.

Old Woman: Young Man, did you need something?

Todd picked the ring holder up and brought it closer to the Old Woman so she could see it.

Todd: What can you tell me about this Ring Miss?

Old Woman: My husband made that ring a few weeks ago. We managed to get someone to enchant the ring with a spell that passively regenerates your stamina and keeps you refreshed and in peak condition.

The Old Woman took the ring from Todd as she spoke.

Todd: What a strange enchantment for such a beautiful ring.

Old Woman: We figured Newlyweds might enjoy the ring when we made it. It's 40 Silver coins.

The Old Woman couldnt see it thanks to the Helmet, but Todd whinced at the number, even though she couldn't see, she could still tell.

Old Woman: The ring had been sitting there for a week and nobody has so much as looked at it. If the price is too high now, it will most likely still be here when you got the money.

Todd: I'll be sure to come back here...

The Old Woman stood up and put the ring back where it was originally, and Todd walked away, back on his patrol. Or he would have if he wasn't Jumpscared by the Hero standing behind him.

Todd: Oh!... Oh. Hero, why are you standing behind me? I can usually hear you from a mile away.

Hero: *Mouth Breathing*

Todd: Righhht... So you can be stealthy when you want to... Anyways, did you need something from me?

The Hero immediately took out a potion. Well, Todd assumes it's a potion, but the bottle is not see through and its unmarked. The Hero shoved it towards Todd, gesturing for Todd to drink it.

Todd: You... You want me to drink it?

The Hero Vigorously nodded. Shoving it towarfs Todd even more aggressively.

Todd: O-... Ok then. I hope this isn't harmful.

Todd then opened the bottle and drank some. But right as Todd started drinking it, the Hero immediately pulled out his own bottle and drank that as well.

Todd stopped drinking and looked at the Hero, the Hero also stopped drinking and looked back.

Todd: If you just wanted to have a drink with me, then all you had to do was ask. I wouldn't mind.

The Hero immediately snatched the drink away and left, leaving Todd dumbfounded.

Todd: I shouldn't have said anything... I should have just enjoyed the bonding. Although that meads tasted terrible.

Todd Sighed and went back to his patrols around the marketplace.

...

A few hours later.

...

It is dark out now and the nighttime Guards are now taking over. Esebelle and a few other guards have already went to sleep. Jeremy is not here and Todd is sitting at the table writing a report. On someone he arrested today.

Keith: Why are you writing a report? I didn't get arrested today!

Keith suddenly talking Jumpscared Todd, who thought he was alone.

Todd: You scared me! You need to stop sneaking around if you plan on revealing yourself... And not every report is about you. There are other people in this city who get arrested.

Keith: Oh? Whst did the person you're writing a report on do?

Todd: She got into a bar fight. She started it and still lost. So she got arrested and the other one was fined. So why are you here?

Keith: You remember the situation earlier with the Hero? The thing he made you drink?

Todd: yeah? And you followed him and found out what the liquid was?

Keith: How did you know?

Todd: I could tell. Why else would you bring that up randomly at night?

Keith paused, realizing that Todd was right, then Shrugged.

Keith: Fair enough. I told a Magic buddy of mine in Brokeback Mountain City about the situation and he said that the Potion he had you drink was most likely a Soul linkage potion.

Todd paused.

Todd: What is that? Surely you're gonna continue, right?

Keith: Keep in mind that all my magic friend knows is that the Hero got into alchemy recently, he made you drink the liquid and he drank an identical liquid at the exact same time. It's not much to go off and my mage friend personally doubts this because the Hero is a Novive from his perspective, but he thinks the potion was a soul linkage potion. As for what that does, you make the potion with a bit of your blood inside of it, your blood makes you the controller, and if you make someone else drink it, your souls will be linked together.

Todd: That's cool and all, but what does Soul Linkage do?

Keith: My friend said that it grants you the ability to summon copies of the person who drank the potion. Or that's the most popular and common use for it.

Todd: Wait... So he can summon me whenever he wants?

Keith: No, he can summon a puppet of sorts that's exactly like you. Anyways, I came here because there is something you might wanna see.

Keith immediately got down from the Rafters and Todd hesitantly followed. Keith lead Todd to the spot that the Hero killed a Wyvern. Todd wasn't there to see it happen, but he doesn't believe a word of the gossip.

When they reached the area, Todd's jaw dropped when he saw the Hero surrounded by several hundred Copies of Todd.

What shocked Todd even more was the Hero summoning a ball of Purple energy in his hand and absorbing all of the Todd Clones. Which Caused the Heros muscles to become more defined and toned.

Todd suddenly felt his own body getting weaker. Not too noticeable, but he suddenly feels a bit heavier than usual, as well as his armor feeling more cumbersome than usual.

Todd: Why do I feel a little weaker?

He asked while looking at his hands, this drew Keith's attention with a sigh.

Keith: So that's why he wanted that...

Todd looked at Keith with a worried expression.

Todd: what? Finish your thoughts!

Todd was getting visibly angry.

Keith: My mage friend said that most people make that type of potion so they can slowly steal power and strength from the target. The most commonly targeted people are Northmen, because they never refuse a drink and if you offer the potion like a alcoholic beverage, they will immediately drink it with no questions asked.

Todd: So that... Person stole some of my strength to make himself stronger?

Keith: Seems so. Although you don't have a lot of strength to begin with, so maybe he has a different target and used you to see if it works.

Todd stormed off in the direction of the Hero, intending to confront him about it, but before he could reach the Hero, Several Todd Clones appeared out of nowhere and twckled the real Todd to the ground. The Hero immediately bolted in the opposite direction and disappeared in the nearby forest.

Keith was standing on the sidelines, watching Dozens of Todd's wrestle each other, he then pulled out a bottle of wine and started drinking it as he enjoyed the show.

...

Final Coffee/Tea break, then this chapter is over.

The Soul linking potion, let's go into that for a moment. The Soul linking potion was created by a woman named "Maryon Asreay". Shr created that potion for the sole purpose of forcing people into servitude for her.

Miss Maryon took a not from the True demons books for inspiration. True Demons in the Hell realm will "Loan" Power to Mortals in exchange for their soul. The demons who actually loqned the power are usually low ranking demons who borrowed more power from higher ranking demons to keep losing out.

Let's go deeper, for a moment. A Vampire is considered a lowranking demon. The lowest rank available, in fact. The ranks go from lowest to highest...

Lesser Demon, Demon, Greater Demon, Grand Demon, Demon Lord, Demon Prince, Demon King.

When you reach Grand Demon Rank, you have tte option to either Go Demon Lord of Slit Demon. A Demon Lord isn't much different than Lords in the Magic Realm, (The realm Humans and Elves live in). They rule over a Town or even a City, collecting Soul Tax.

Slit Demons go down the path of bloodshed. Killing Demons to go up in Ranks. But we aren't talking about those Ranks.

A Lesser Demon must borrow power from a Demon. The Demon loans a little power to the Lesser Demon and the Lesser Demon has to get to the Magic Realm and Loan that power to the humans in exchange for their souls. When that Human dies, the Demon that power belonged to as well as any more power that human obtained afterwards will go back to the Demon.

Let's start over, The Demon loans power to the Lesser Demon, but the Demon has a limited amount of power, so the Demon will eventually have to borrow power from a Greater Demon. That Greater Demon also has limited power and will have to borrow power from a Grand Demon, the Grand Demon borrows from a Demon Lord and the cycle repeats until you get to the Demon Princes.

The Demon has the option to sell power directly to humans, but they usually choose to rely on lesser demons. To distribute the Power.

As for why? You need power to survive in the Hell realm. The easiest way to get power is absorbing the souls of Mortals and the easiest way to get the Souls of mortals is to loan your power to them, let them get stronger, they will eventually die and the Demon gets the human soul and all the power they accumulated in their life.

Back to the Vampire. Vampires are born as Lesser Demons, and when you're a Lesser Demon, you are very close to being demoted to a Rank lower than Lesser. If a Lesser Demon gets demoted, then they become summons. They lose every ounce of their power until it's just enough to stay alive and they are basically eternally trapped in the Summon Realm. Which is a Realm that human Summoners will call upon to get a Summon to temporarily aid them in battle. Demons have pride and being reduced to a Summon is the ultimate blow on that pride. So they will do whatever it takes to stay out of the Summon Realm.

There is a lot more to tell about this Realm, but I'll get back to the point. Maryon Asreay.

She saw the Demons way of handling power and wondered if she could create a potion and spell that allows her to do similar things. Such as stealing people's souls to strengthen themselves. So that's what she did.

Ok, the Coffee/Tea break is over. But one last message. This is a difficult story to come up with plots for. So I won't be updating it every single day, I do want to update it at least once a week though.
