The White family has been in business for generations. Their main business is heavy construction equipment as well as freighters, but, like many mafia families, they also go underground.
Their business is to bring in illegal drugs using their own freighters. They design and also build special ships to hide a large amount of illegal drugs. They are so famous among drug dealers, all drug dealers use their services and no one can stop them.
The business was going well but came to an abrupt halt when their sixteen-year-old son was killed in a gang fight over drug distribution territory.
The death of their young son was a blow to the White family, Amari was only five years old at the time. Their entire underground business was halted and they didn't deal drugs again until Amari was older.
His parents always held a dinner on the anniversary of his brother's death and Amari always had to attend the dinner. Like tonight, though he was still so shocked by what he found in the company lobby.
His car entered the main gate, stopping in the parking lot not far from the main house. Amari walked in, he looked around the house. Several guards had been added by his parents after he got a lot of threats.
"Young master, you have arrived." A maid greeted him and let him into the house, Amari walked a short distance through the hallway until he finally stopped in a room.
His parents were there, smiling broadly to greet him.
"You came a little late, something happened?" His Omega father, Jesse smiled from where he was sitting.
Amari shifted his seat and now sat in front of his mother.
"What's wrong?" His mother, Ashleen, looked at him intently.
The maids brought plates of food, placing them on the table while the small family was talking to each other. They uncovered each plate and left the dining room, only the three people were there along with a few guards in the corner.
"You're getting something again?" Jesse asked with a face full of shock.
"I got a threatening package through the office."
Jesse covered his mouth with both hands, while Ashleen shook her head softly. She held her forehead. They really didn't know what to do, the reporting they had done to the police hadn't found any light.
Ashleen read the letter Amari handed her, it was already very concerning to her.
Amari has been threatening since he returned from Australia. After graduating from university, he went to Australia and lived there, working for a company that was not related to his parents. Two years ago, Amari returned at the request of his parents.
He returned to take over the company. Preparations were made, but only those in the White family knew about it. No one outside the family knew that Amari was already back and about him take over the company.
The terror came first as Amari made preparations.
"The guns that first came to this house and the bullets they found at the party yesterday are all the same. They were manufactured by the Campbell family." Ashleen glanced at Amari who was now slumped in place.
"Amari, didn't you meet the youngest son of the Dhurudatta family at the party?" Now Jesse asked, turning to Amari, he grasped his son's hand.
"I know the guns and bullets found were both manufactured by the Campbell family, but the fact that the Dhurudatta family sold the guns and bullets doesn't mean they are threatening me. Dad, mom, anyone can be a suspect. It's just that I think they bought the guns from the Dhurudatta family."
Ashleen turned to Jesse who was still holding Amari's hand. The two stared at each other, seeing how Amari was trying to make them not suspect the Dhurudatta family, as parents they knew what was in Amari's mind.
"Next week, you can ask the Dhurudatta family about it."
Amari turned to Ashleen, "What's the point?"
"You can talk to the youngest son of the family, if you can get access to the names of the buyers of the guns they sell."
"Mom!"
"Amari..." Jesse tightened his grip on Amari, "We're just worried, this is no longer just a threat. What happened at the party, they're really after you. The police can't be relied on, we have to do something."
The conversation just revolved around that. His parents no longer had access to the underground, it had been so long since they stopped and they no longer communicated with the underground mafia. Their business was now purely on freighters and heavy construction equipment.
This made it difficult for them to ask for help directly for Amari's protection. They hired many guards but still, Amari was under threat.
As Amari entered his room, he decided not to go back to his condominium. He would spend the night at his parents' house. It had been so long since he had slept in his own room in this house.
After the death of his older brother, his parents were a little possessive to him. Since childhood, Amari had been surrounded by many guards and because of the threats he got recently his parents added more guards.
He sighed, taking his phone out of his pocket and staring at Joshua's number again.
He should contact Joshua.
The gun that someone sent him when the first threats came had the initials CB. The Campbells and the Dhurudatta family became in-laws when their daughter Sarah Campbell married the Dhurudatta family's eldest son, Cross. The marriage happened because both families wanted to expand their businesses.
"If I'm not mistaken Gruvv's husband is also coming from the Sherburne family as well, they married into influential people both in this country and in other countries. That is why their family gave birth to many dominants in it." Amari muttered and sighed.
Amari startled when his phone rang, he stared at the screen for a long time before finally deciding to take it.
You didn't go back to your home?
The male voice on the other end of the line rang out, the voice that had become so familiar to his ears.
"No, I'm staying at my parents' house. Are you back?"
Yes, I left early today. I was planning to stop by your place, but my secretary said you weren't back home.
Amari sighed, his eyebrows knitted together, "Hey, you don't even cover up that you're stalking me anymore."
I wasn't stalking, I just wanted to know where my fiancé was.
"Damn it, stop saying those things."
The man on the other end of the line laughed loudly,
You should have already accepted this relationship, it's already our second year as fiancées. Our two families will make an official announcement soon after your ceremony.
"...."
Amari... I know you don't have feelings for me, but let's just say you're fulfilling your parents' wishes. After all this marriage is for both our families.
"Jude, why don't you say no?"
The man on the other end of the line didn't answer, only a small chuckle headed when Amari asked that question.
You should know that I do follow my parents' wishes. After all, I've known you for so long, I have no problem marrying you. You should think so too even though I'm not your type.
"Never mind, you can come to my house tomorrow night."
Should I pick you up?
"No, you'll make my parents happy to see you pick me up for work tomorrow."
The call was cut off when Amari heard his 'fiancee' laughter.
Amari didn't want this engagement, but when he returned to his parents' house two years ago and saw his parents in a bad state he couldn't think straight. When his father asked him to take over the company and his mother said he should get engaged to Jude Fothergill, the only son of the Fothergill family, owners of FOTHER PHARMA, he said yes.
Amari knew his parents wouldn't live long, their illness was so chronic that this was all he could do to fulfill their wishes after his brother's death.
However, the more he fulfills their wishes, the more his discomfort grows. After he met Joshua, it made him even more certain that he didn't like Jude. Jude was more like an older brother to him. The fondness he had harbored for so long was rekindled when he saw Joshua last month. The man still hadn't changed since they last met.
Amari closed his eyes.
He did not know that his life would be arranged like this by his parents, he had always hoped for freedom but again his parents locked him in a golden cage that he could not open even from the inside.
"Ah, I'm tired." He murmured.
He covered his eyes with his hands, his chest felt tight, he didn't want to do anything, he didn't want to go to work. He wanted to do something else other than continue his family's business, but he had no other choice.
Amari was still closing his eyes when he heard his phone ring.
"Jude, you call me so much that I get bored." He muttered as he picked up the call, he pressed the answer button before seeing who was calling.
"Aren't you tired of calling me?" He asked.
Huh? I just called you because you didn't call me for a month after asking for my number.
????
Amari jumped out of bed, he quickly sat up and stared intently at his phone screen, he read the name on it 'JOSHUA DHURUDATTA'. Shit.
