The four humans and one tiger dove into the food, devouring everything at a visible speed.

"Wow, this is delicious… That one too!"

"And this one… and that!"

"Also that one!"

Shi Hao stuffed food into his mouth nonstop. Ever since he got separated, all he'd been living on was beast milk and gnawing gourd shells. His taste buds had long gone numb.

The White Tiger wasn't faring any better—its appetite was monstrous. It downed heaps of food with each bite.

Yan scrambled to replenish the food, but even he couldn't keep up. The three of them could only watch in stunned silence as their carefully prepared meal got absolutely wiped out.

During the feast, Hu Liena took the chance to cozy up to the child.

"Hey, little guy, what's your name?"

"My dad said since I love drinking beast milk, I should be called Shi Hao!"

He answered while still chewing with gusto.

Hu Liena silently wondered—what kind of naming logic was that? Since he liked beast milk, he had to be named Shi Hao? Was there a connection?

"And don't your family worry about you being out here all alone?"

She gently pressed on.

"I'll tell you a secret—don't tell anyone, okay? I snuck out! Daddy didn't want me to leave."

Shi Hao leaned in and whispered like it was some grand conspiracy.

Hu Liena chuckled again but couldn't help frowning as she warned him.

"You snuck out? That's not good at all. This is the Star Dou Forest—home to the fiercest soul beasts on the whole continent. Even with a ten-thousand-year soul beast by your side, it's still incredibly dangerous."

Shi Hao, however, replied with all seriousness.

"But my mommy was taken away by bad people. I have to rescue her. Daddy's always sad because he misses her so much… I want to make him happy."

"That's why I ran off to save Mommy!"

Hu Liena's heart ached at his words. So his mom was kidnapped… Poor kid. But she couldn't help but ask:

"Then why didn't your dad go rescue her himself?"

"Hmm… We've still got six younger siblings at home. Daddy can't leave them behind."

"…Six?!"

Hu Liena was stunned by this family's fertility rate. Seven kids?! Even if it's one per year, that's seven whole years!

"Well then! Since you're the eldest, I'll call you Big Bro Gourd! Sounds cute, right?"

Shi Hao nodded. His daddy liked calling him that too.

At this moment, Xie Yue's expression turned cold. "The bastards who kidnapped your mom… They must be inhuman. Who the hell would tear a mother away from seven children? Tell us. Who did this?!"

As orphans themselves, Hu Liena and Xie Yue had never known the warmth of a mother's embrace. It wasn't until the Supreme Pontiff Bibi Dong took them in that they learned what family truly meant.

Far away in the Spirit Hall's worship hall, Qian Daoliu sneezed.

Hm? Is someone talking about me?

Yan added furiously, "Yeah! Tell us who they are. We'll help you!"

His sense of justice flared up.

"It was the Spirit Hall. They were the ones who took my mommy away. They made my daddy sad… and now we can't even see her!"

Shi Hao's tone darkened. His aura shifted.

The three of them froze mid-bite. "Clunk, clunk, clunk!" Their utensils dropped in unison.

They exchanged bewildered glances.

Spirit Hall?

That was them.

They were the Golden Generation—Spirit Hall's pride and future. They practically represented Spirit Hall.

And now this little kid just told them Spirit Hall kidnapped his mother?

Their faces grew increasingly awkward.

"Are you… sure it was Spirit Hall?" Hu Liena asked, voice hesitant. "From what I know, Spirit Hall actually has a good reputation. They serve the common people…"

"I don't care if they're good or bad! All I know is they took my mommy and tore my family apart!"

"I'm gonna find Spirit Hall… and crush it!"

Shi Hao growled. The food in his hands turned to powder from his grip.

Noticing what he'd done, he quickly grabbed a random blade of grass nearby to fidget with instead.

"Big Sister Nana, my daddy told me this story a bunch of times. It has to be true!" he added firmly, thumping his chest.

Cough cough cough!

All three of them started coughing at once.

They were the Golden Generation of Spirit Hall, and here they were listening to a kid swear to crush the organization they belonged to. They couldn't even get mad—it was too absurd.

"Big bro, big sis, are you guys sick or something? Why are you coughing so much?" Shi Hao asked with concern.

Hu Liena waved her hand, trying to cover it up. "It's not that… I was just really moved by your story. Spirit Hall is just… so evil!"

"Yeah, really evil!" the other two chimed in immediately, faces full of complicated emotions.

They didn't dare reveal their identities now.

But inside, they were reeling. If what the kid said was true, then… yeah, Spirit Hall was in the wrong. That said, Hu Liena had her doubts. Such a massive organization was bound to have a few bad eggs—it didn't mean the whole Spirit Hall was rotten.

They decided to keep their identities hidden for now.

Seeing them on his side, Shi Hao felt even more at ease.

"By the way… Big Sister Nana, why are you guys here? Are you playing eagle-catches-chick or something?"

The trio blinked.

Where did that come from?

Hu Liena chuckled and explained patiently, "We're here to hunt soul beasts and absorb soul rings. And earlier, we weren't playing eagle-catches-chick—we were fighting that tiger."

Shi Hao scratched his head. "Soul rings? You don't just… have them naturally?"

He looked puzzled but didn't press further.

Yan leaned over curiously. "What's eagle-catches-chick?"

"It's a game! How do you not know? You guys are so dumb!"

Shi Hao laughed. "One person's the mother hen, the others are chicks hiding behind her. Then there's an eagle trying to catch the chicks. Earlier when you lined up like that, it looked just like it!"

"Daddy said, when Mommy comes home, we can all play together."

"All of this… Daddy taught me. My daddy tells the best stories!"

"Oh! There's also hide-and-seek! Big Cat hides, and if we find him, he gets punished. Hehe!"

Shi Hao babbled excitedly.

The Golden Generation sat there, eyes wide, listening in awe.

Games? Stories? Parental warmth?

They'd never had any of that. Their childhood was filled with nothing but training and discipline.

Envy flashed in their eyes.

That kid's dad… must be an incredible father.
